  1. Maybe an expensive coffee machine and perhaps a cute cashier. You are paying 40% too much at a dealer.. Only use the dealer for warranty work
  2. I pick up my new (to me) Turbo today at 1 o'clock and say goodbye to my Carrera (tear..) The tech at called me yesterday after he test drove the car after the mods to the chip and exhaust. He said and I quote "that thing is sick now.." Yipee! Can't wait to drive it. :drive: I'll post pictures asap......
  3. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
  4. that is freakin awesome. It woulld be nice to know how to drive like that as well....
  5. I know that it's very popular here in So Cal with our 9.75% sales tax. I have a friend who's attorney set up the whole thing up for $3k. Not a bad expense considering he bought a $200,000 car (would have been around $20k in taxes here.) I think that max reg & title expense for a car in Montana is $350. I would do some research about things like insurance requiremments etc... Hope I helped a little
  6. Thanks for the replies everyone. I figure I'm not getting any younger so I should have things that make me happy lol! I really am going to miss my Carrera. Ulitmately I'd like to add a GT3 to my quiver (and a Panamera for that matter.) That would mean a much bigger home with more garages :clapping: Oh yeah and I need to make a lot more money..... I almost bought a Aston Martin Vantage. Awesome car but nowhere near the Porsche in performance. :drive: Actually would like one of those too..(I'm sick.) Porsches rock and I'm sticking with them... It looks like I'll pick up the car on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll go down to the Rose Bowl and take some pictures. She is a beauty. I'm really excited..
  7. Thanks. I like cars with warranties lol
  8. Thanks Geoff! My Carrera is awesome. It only has 23k miles. Someone will enjoy it.. I wish I could have kept it but I don't have space for 2 P cars. This Turbo is pretty amazing. It's getting an ECU upgrade and some exhaust mods. She'll put out around 530 hp after the mods. The stock mufflers are way to quiet for me.. The Composite brakes are insane. I thought the stard Porsche brakes were good....
  9. I'm trading in my 997 S for a 2007 Turbo. I've only had my Carrera for less than a year. Here are a couple pics and the options list.. It's got 40k miles and in absolutely perfect condition. It's got a CPO warranty until 07/2012. It has every option.. Including the limited slip dif and PCCB's. I love my Carrera but I couldn't resist this car. I got a really good deal on it.... I'll post some nice high res pics when I pick it up next week.
  10. Correct. Get an 06 or later
  11. Thanks RFM
  12. I know this is a hard question to answer but how long (normal driving conditions) can one expect the PCCB pads to last? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
  13. :clapping: Thanks Scott!
  14. I'm interested in a 2007 Turbo in Tampa at a place called "Tampa Bay Auto Exchange". There address is 1205 US Highway 19 Holiday, FL 34691 I'm in California and I can't fly out to see the car. Is anyone close by that would be interested in taking a look for me? I would make it worth your while. It's a Silver Turbo.. The Number there is 1-866-716-1290. The guy I've been dealing with is named Robert. Would like a visual report on scratches, interior flaws etc. Car looks immaculate in the high res pictures I was sent but it's still too hard to tell. PM me if your in that area. Thanks ! Phillipj
  15. For me I don't need to have the fastest or newest Turbo. I will let someone else spend $150k for the 997-2 and have it be worth $75k in three years. I'm a portfolio manager and that is not a good trade no matter how you do the math... I have driven both the 2007 and the 2010 and you can make the 997-1 perform close to the 997-2 with some relatively simple mods. Thats the beauty of a Turbo. Pretty easy to get 650 hp if you want it. But how fast do I need to go anyway? Just my way of accquiring these cars. They (Porsche) already have a bigger, badder , faster one in the works anyway.. I'll never catch up lol!
  16. Just to chime in on this.. I have driven both the 996 Turbo and 997 Turbo and have owned 996 and 997 Carreras. No doubt the Turbo is faster but it's just a totally different experience.. After dring another 997 Turbo the other day (tuned to about 550hp) I got back in my C2S and still loved it. I love the sound and the response from a normally aspirated engine (no lag and higher revs.) I would really love to have both. I have a hard time saying that one is better than the other. They are two totally different cars. That being said I believe I may be buying this car. 2007 Turbo with PCCB's Carbon package, Sport Chrono. It is truly sweeet and those brakes are mind blowing.. Here's a pic.. Still working on a price. Somewhere is the $75k range..
  17. Still shopping... I have found quite a few cars that interest me. I really want a white one but there are not too many around. A lot of silver... I like Black too. as well as the meteor grey.. I will TRY to be patient and see what I can find. I'll keep you posted...
  18. Have you driven one yet? There is quite a bit of Turbo lag in first gear. My tech tells me that upgrading the chip takes care of that (as well as some added hp.). It really feels like it needs this upgrade when you drive it. It feels like it's choked back for emissions and can't really breath... It's also so freakin quiet compared to a normally aspirated Porsche!. I will have to modify the exhaust when I get one.. You can't even hear the motor when your on it.. Second gear does mash you back in your seat which is quite cool:clapping: . All the best and I'll continue my shopping and update you. Cheers
  19. You can easily get another 06 low mile 997S for the high $40's. Good luck. I hope your health condition improves and your back behind the wheel soon (safely.):drive:
  20. Thanks for the advice.:D I'm still shopping. Really not ready to pull the trigger. I have only had my 997S for about 10 months. But I drove a 997 Turbo with PCCB brakes and was VERY impressed. Now I'm like a little kid who wants a new toy... Probably should have never done that test drive lol! That car is pretty amazing. The brakes are absolutely incredible. You would really have to be careful about other cars following behind you.. They would no way be able to stop as quickly as you can. I wish I could have the Carrera and the Turbo. Such different animals. I'll let you know what happens.
  21. But isn't your insurance company going to give you a decent payout on the total of the car?
  22. You will have a salvage title though. Which means the car will be basically worthless. The car will never be right.. You would be better off parting out the car or better yet just getting another one.. Just my 2 cents...
  23. I found a 2007 Turbo In Florida. It has 39k miles. It's in almost perfect condition except it has experienced a front end impact. Apparently it hit a guardrail. The front bumper and some trim under the car needed to be replaced. What concerns me is that the airbag was deployed. The car was $72k then $69k and has been lowered to $67,500 . Should I stay away based on possible chasssis damage etc? I have been talking to the dealer. I'm sure I could even get the price lower. Let me know what you think. Thanks
