  1. Sounds strange (and highly unlikely) that they would have swapped the 3.4 for a 3.6  It a big deal to do the swap. Like Loren said it's not only a different DME but (to do it right) requires a new insrument cluster as well as some additional reprograming and wiring. If you did have the 3.6 you would definetly notice a difference in power! I did a swap so I know. It's a PITA..... Be interested to see what that serial number says.....
  2. I think the seat mounting itself is a straight swap but the electrical connectors are different. Quite a few people have done this. I remember seeing threads on this.. Do a search and you should find some info..
  3. +1 agreed. I will be a money pit.......
  4. You could try Easy Care. They have a good reputation and they know Porsches. I had one of their warranties but never made a claim.. Don't forget to negotiate......
  5. They just keep making it better and better. I'll have Porsches til I die...:notworthy:
  6. Great work. Really impressive :clapping:
  7. Glad to hear you have a warranty!!! My old 996 cracked a head and I had no warranty:unsure: No I will never have a Porsche without a warranty... Hopefully you will get a reman engine from Porsche.. Thay have strenghened the IMS and made other upgrades. They come with a 2 year warranty. It is highly unlikely that you will get a "new" engine. That just isn't how Porsche does things. I would say to insist on a reman form Porsche. The price is comparable to a used engine (from a wreck). I would doubt the insurance company would go this route. Good luck and you will be back behind the wheel in no time..
  8. Big mistake.. Don't get them unless you plan on tracking the car (a lot.) The tiny bit of high rpm power is negligible. You will lose a lot of of low end torque (which you will miss desperately on the street.) Plus the car is really loud. Not a nice loud either. like a "rice burner" loud.. I never got a CEL but most people do.. I put them on my 99 3.4 996 and took them off a week later and sent them back to Fabspeed. (Joe was kind enough to refund the price minus shipping.) Just my opinion but your wasting your money. Go for the 200 cell cats instead, You'll get a bit of performance gain and the car will still be legal..
  9. A Boxster was never meant to ride on 20"s. Even the 996 is not real happy on 20's. I agree with the other posters.. The car will handle best with the 18's. You can go to the 19's if you don't mind sacrificing a bit of handling. Good luck and.. :welcome:
  10. You're going to be thrilled!!!!!:clapping:
  11. Great shot of the Boxster Sami :clapping:
  12. See if Porsche will extend or sell you a new warranty. I had EasyCare and my last Carrera. I just traded it in (6 months after buying the warranty) and I got a refund of almost the entire amount. Mine was 60k miles or 4 years and I paid about $2750. they were having a special so I got a good deal. If Porsche won't cover you I would go with Easy Care. Although I never had a claim the customer service was always excellent. Also you can negotiate the price. You should be able to do better than $3500. But for God sakes get a warranty. You'll be glad you did (I had a 996 engine detonate so I know.)
  13. Wow I can't believe that nobody amswered your post. Try "Tech Art" or "Werks". They make a lot of cool carbon stuff and it's very pricey... Here is a link http://www.championmotorsport.com/werks1_aero.html
  14. Fabspeed makes a very good header for Turbo. So does Maxspeed Motorsports. Some people prefer the sound of the Tubi so they combine components. Remember when you hear the term "sport cats" it means 200 cell catalytic converters (stock cats are 800 cell and much more restrictive.) 200 cell cats are legal and will pass smog checks. When the say "race" it usually means no cats which make the car illegal on the highway (not to mention extremely loud.) Hope this helps.. As for his warranty covering the intercoolers... Probably not... If their computer detects he has altered the ECU the warranty will be void. (Unless the Porsche dealer did the mods.)
  15. I did the regular Tubi (200 cell cats.) The race version has no cats (illegal.).. My chip is GIAC. My tech suggested the GT2 plugs would work better with the chip and it was time for a service so it made sense. I also installed a K & N filter in the stock air box.. The car is noticably WAY faster!! The exhaust is very docile at cruising speeds and has a really nice growl when you get on it. There is almost no Turbo lag in first gear anymore. 2nd gear when the boost hits is insane.. And 3rd gear even more crazy. I started laughing the first time. I guess I have around 560 Hp now and 580 lbs of torque. It's insane...... Nothing will come close to your car after these mods unless it's another Turbo with more mods... Yours will be even faster than mine becuase your doing the intercoolers as well. You're going to love it.. Keep us posted
  16. I pay $150 from my Indie.. I would never pay more than that.. $350??? $295?? That is disgusting.... Please don't do that anymore. It's so easy............. No reason to gouge you like that.... The oil costs around $8.50 to $9.00 a quart and the filter is $15.00. That's about a hundred bucks. So you're paying $200+ bucks labor to un screw your drain bolt and pour oil in your car... Not good... Shop around or do it yourself.
  17. I agree with Dharn, Just order some news ones. Just two bolts. super easy replacement..
  18. If you use the search tool I think you will find a lot of information on modding your toy. :welcome:
  19. I had the Turismo 20's on my 997. The Victor wheels are very well made and look great. Just be aware that they are going to be heavier that your Stock Porsche wheel (which will effect your handling.)
  20. Do it.. I just had my Chip done and the exhaust. The difference is amazing. My tuner used GT2 spark plugs as well (it was time for a service.) I love th eTubi system. Couldn't afford right now though... Good luck and post back after the works is done.
  21. Having had the stock clutch and a stage 2 clutch in previous cars I would stick with the OEM. No real benefit to the beefier clutch for the way you drive and a stock flywheel. Just my 2 cents
  22. Update.. Oh my God this car is fast. According to my tech with the mods it had around 560hp and approx 600lbs or torque. It's an amazing experience. I'll post some pics before the week is up. Now I know what the rest of the 997 Turbo owners are talking about.....:clapping:
