  1. 10,000 miles? I'm with wyovino... Get it inspected then if you go ahead with the purchase have the IMS upgrade done.. He drove it less than 1000 miles a year.. Amazing....
  2. Congrats on the new ride! It great you got a warranty. That was very wise, I'm not a Cayenne owner so I can"t help much. I know some other members will chime in and give you some good info, That's a beauty... :welcome:
  3. You MUST get the car to a Porsche tech for an inspection before you buy. The 02 Turbo is a very reliable car if all maintenance has been properly done. If the owner does not have service records walk away. A proper inspection will save you from severe financial headaches down the road. You have been warned  Of course you should drive the car and look for squeaks, rattles, steering etc. Good luck!
  4. Alex, The resonance is minimal at worst.. It doesn't bother me or my wife (which is the real test.) I love the exhaust and would highly recommmend it.. But... It may void your warranty if you have one. At least at my dealer it does. My dealer is not "mod friendly". Some dealers are... So if I have an engine issue my service manager said would have to put my stock exhaust back on then take it to the dealer for warranty work.. Phillip
  5. At the recommendation of a friend I fillled up the tank in the Turbo with racing gas (100 octane). at $7.99 a gallon this isn't something I can do every time lol! Wow but what a difference in performance. After about 5 miles the car was noticably quicker at boost. In "over-boost" way quicker! I guess that's the way they all run in Europe. My car is flashed and GIAC says that you get another 25hp with racing gas. Sure feels like it.. If you haven't tried this I highly recommend it... I'm sure it's more noticable in a Turbo car that normally aspirated car.. I think I'll do a half tank once a month. God I love my car.:clapping:
  6. "Staying with the iron brakes and 5 lug wheels is also good." What? You like the steel brakes better than the ceramics? You're kidding right? This is my fifth Porsche and first with PCCB's. I will never go back to steel brakes for the street. Have you even driven a P car with PCCB's? If so you didn't like them? Please explain....
  7. The RE-11's are a great tire. They stick well. Work great in the rain and are pretty quiet. Good tire for the money..
  8. Logray, I have the lube from when I did my 996 years ago. I can send you some if you want. Let me know..
  9. Logray, Great work and thanks for the great info.. I like your use of latex gloves as sealing devices! I thought I was the only one that did that! Good liuck with your project and I hope that the AOS is the culprit..
  10. I found this on CPO: http://www.porsche.c...s/approved/faq/ - sounds like the CPO is transferable. Wow! I stand corrected.. Thanks for pointing that out to me.. I have always been told they are not transferrable. Good to know that they are! Good luck in your search for a car.. If you get the 03 turbo at least you wont have to worry about the IMS issue..Different engine..
  11. If you have a good realtionship with your dealer they will be able to tell you what service has been done. If you can't get service history I would walk away from the car. Typically a CPO warranty is NOT transferrable.. You should get the right information for the dealer. She doesn't seem to know what she is talking about.. I may sound like a pig but i would never but a P car from a woman. I have seen how they drive them and care for them..:censored: That is a good price for a CPO car. But if there are a lot of flaws in the paint maybe it's not a good price. Find out if it's a CPO car form the dealer. Give them the vin # and ask them if it's transferrable.. I doubt it... Good luck and be careful.
  12. I have found just by being careful how you eneter and exit the car can make a big difference on that wear of the bolster in question. I keep my seats very moisturized and pay extra attention to the entry part of the seat. I have an 07 997 TT. I bought it last year and the previuous owner took good car of the car. It is over 4 years old now with almost 50k miles on it. The seats are nearly perfect. My dealer is always amazed in the condition of my interior. Just two small creases in the drivers side upper and lower entry bolster. My car never sits in the sun. The sun is a killer for leather. I'll post some pics of the interior later. If you get your seats re -done I strongly recommend the Swiss Wax leather care. The will look like new for a very long time if you do the preventative maintenance..
  13. Great News!:notworthy: Not all of them blow up...:clapping:
  14. Same question Roger.. Is your car lowered?
  15. A TT what? Cayenne? 911? And what do you mean "motor"? We need a little bit more information.. :welcome:
  16. I hoped I'd get suggestions about the 08 911 turbo CAB but as I read my own post, it was not very good. I was looking for suggestions on how I can evaluate the car and decide on an equitable deal. I am an older beginner in the Porsche. I am not familiar with this car and hoped others would comment about their experience, what they would look for. I have driven a 2010 Cerrara 4S and liked it (not a vert). Not a turbo but very nice. Price about equal to this 08 turbo CAB. Should I play it safe and purchase the newer car with warrante in trade off for performance and the CAB? I don't really need a CAB but see it as a bonus. Is this garage queen a car to consider or should I look for a CPO? This car is at a Porsche dealer. I don't know if others have negotiated service or warranty rather than price. Ideas from others appreciated. Turbo's are kind of funny when it comes to price. You will see a similar year and mileage and a crazy variation in price.. I think that $98k for the car you mentioned is too much. How many miles are on it? It is cab though which demands a higher price. I bought a 2007 TT coupe with 38k miles with all options (including ceramic brakes) for $76,000 last year. I absolutely love my car...:clapping: I would definetly try to get a CPO car. I have a CPO on mine and although nothing major has happened it has paid for many little things and my dealer really takes care of me.. I would shop around and look everywhere to get an idea of what an average price is for the car you want. Be patient.. There are a lot of Turbos out there and take a look at the 07's as well. Good luck
  17. Casey, Will your dealer give you an extended warranty? That's the way to go..... You only have 25k on the car. I got an additional 2 years 100k miles for my 07 Turbo for $3,300. The warranty has already paid for itself by 2 times..
  18. 63k is too much for that car. I agree that mid to high fifties is more reasonable. Keep looking like Number9ine says. Lots of cars out there. Don't shy away from an 06 with low miles either. There were no upgrades from 06 to 07. For me a CPO car is the way to go.. Good luck and be patient..
  19. Dus10R, Thanks for a great write up. I was not aware that the 997-2 Turbo did not have a dry sump motor. I guess I'm glad to know that I have the 997-1 TT. Really great info. Thanks!
  20. You really need to start treating leather right away in a new car so that the leather will be more resilient. I'm a nut about taking care of my leather. Swiss wax has the best leather care. It expensive but it works. The have all the cleaning and conditioning as well as the dyes and other restoration products. I doubt your dealer will do anything but you never know.. You can also research leather shops in your area and get their advice. Here is a link for the Swiss wax site. http://www.swissvax....ssvax/SFNT.html Fast Eddie, I believe their U.S. outlet store is in South Beach so you may be able to stop buy and get some advice. Here is their info.. Address Swissvax USA LLC, 400 Alton Road TH-1A, Miami Beach, FL-33139, USA Phone (305) 219-8882 Email sales@swissvax.us good luck
  21. Day Trip, My experience with Vivid has been awful. I first purchsed their carbon airbox. When I received it I was shoucked at the poor quality of the CF. The CF box did not line up properly on its frame and it was very poorly engineered. I returned it saying it was flawed nad they got back to me saying tht there was nothing wrong with it and there would be a 25% restocking fee. If there wa nothing wrong with it I would have installed it on my car. I got into a big battle with Dan there. He finally agreed to give a credit toward another purchase. So I decided to buy their larger throttle body with plenum. Dan said "if you have any problems just call me!". So during the instally my tech was shocked to see the the penum did not come with the proper vacuum hose adapters. So I called dan. He was of no help. He said "just cut the stock fitting and make it fit". I said "what"? I'm going to start butchering my $100k car to make their crap work? So eventually he sent me the proper vacuum hose adapter. I installed the unit and my tech was complaing the whole time about how crappy the plumbing was and that I might have problems down the road. Well I did and was forced to remove the unit because of numerous vacuum leaks and other design problems. Their stuff is crap.. These guys come from a world of modding Japanese cars. They have no business working on cars like ours, Just stay away from them.. Trust me. Now regarding the AWE exhaust.. I don't know anyone that has one. You have to be cautious because a lot of these exhausts have a terrible drone and resonanace. I have the Tech Art on my car and I love it. I bought it used off of a lease return car. Another thing you may consider is "gutting" the baffles in your stock exhaust. There are a few shops around here that do this. My tech told me that there was a study done on turbo exhaust and that the guttted stock exhaust flowed better than any of the after market exhausts.. Something to think about.. I'm all for modding the exhaust and flashing the car. But the other stuff is a waste of money. I have driven my car with the BMC filter and the stock filter and there is no difference. It's not that the BMC filter is "Bad". It just doesn"t do anything.. There was a device installed on my car when I bought it that does make a difference in performance. I wouldn't have believed the claims form the manufacturer. It's called a "Turbo Tuner" made by "Split second". Recently I took my car in for warranty work and my tech asked me about it and told me that I should remove it because it really doesn't make a difference in performance. We took it off and I drove the car home. Believe me.. That little box makes a BIG difference. I put it back on immediately. It just attaches to the boost sensor cable that attaches to your "Y" pipe. Takes 2 minutes to install. Kind of pricey but it works and you can take it off for dealer work in a second. Hope this helps and just be cautious with you car.. Try to find a car with the AWE exhaust so you can hear it before you buy it.. Here's a link for the Turbo Tuner.. http://www.splitsec....s/plugnplay.htm I don't know anything about the Switzer L1 package. Just proceed with caution.
  22. Shocking that an aftermarket "upgrade" part doesn't make a difference...:clapping:
  23. Slahti, In my experience with the guys at Evoms they have been really honest with me. Even discouraging me to buy certain items they sell for my turbo. I like that. They have a very good reputation and buld some really fast and relaible P cars. Let us know what you decide to do.
  24. I beg to differ there my friend. I have had many BMW's and Mercedes as well as Porsches. I'm on my fourth Porsche now. My first one I had for three years. A 99 C2 coupe. I drove the hell out of it.. The only thing I ever had to do was the water pump, ignition switch and spark plug tubes. My second one was a lemon.. My fault though.. I knew the car had problems when I bought it. That one is on me. i knew better.. My third was a 997 2006 C2S. Awesome car! Never one single issue. My current car is a 997 Turbo. My daily driver. Awesome car. Repleaced the clutch accumulator under warranty. That's it. The 997 is a much better car than the 996. As I'm sure the 998 (or whatever it's called) will be better than the 997. My porsches have been by far less of a PITA than my previous BMW's or Mercedes. That being said if you buy a German sports car buy a warranty. That way you won't have to go on these forums and bash the manufacurer of said car.. My friend has a Cayenne, a Boxster and a 997 C4S. Again no real issues to speak of. I agree that some of these cars have problems. But a lot more don't. At least that's my experience..
  25. EVOMS writes their own software. You might want to research that as well.. Stay away from Vivid...
