  1. What a scum bag.. Maybe Loren can trace it...
  2. Cool... Glad you got it sorted.... :king:
  3. Interesting what can happens to used P cars when a new model is released. My friend who is a Used Porsche dealer tells me that sometimes prices actually go up a bit on the used cars once the new model is released. He says this is because of the huge difference in price from the new model to the used previous model. Because few people can actually afford go out and buy the new model it drives up the price of the previous used model (which is more affordable for most of us.) This phenomenon may not last for long but it does happen. Don't be afraid to get used late model 987 0r 911. Drive both and see which one suits you. Just try to get a CPO car and the warranty will give you piece of mind. Don't buy a P car without a warranty. That's my opinion anyway...
  4. 180 k new... 100k used with real low miles after a few years.. That's the way to buy them.. at least for me it is...
  5. Do a search here. This has been covered many times..
  6. I would lean towards EVOMS. Of all the tuners I have dealt with they seem to have the best parts and the best service. Plus they stand behind their product. I would give them a call and discuss your needs.. I don't know what city you are in but whatever you do stay away from Vivid Racing. They are horrible. Nice car you have there by the way! :notworthy:
  7. Stay away from the 05 997. Too many IMS issues and other problems. Look at 06's and later. The 997 C4S and a pre 2006 Turbo are obviously completely different cars. You should drive both cars and see which one turns you on. There are a lot of great 996 Turbos out there. My friend has a 2006 C4S and that car is absolutely awesome. I had a 2006 S Carrera and now have a 2007 Turbo. If you budget allows you may want to look at the 2007 Turbo as well. The market is quite soft now so I'm sure you can get a great low mile 2007 Turbo for around $70 -74k range. Maybe less. ... I would advise you to look for a CPO 997 C4S. It will be difficult to find a CPO 996 Turbo. The CPO warranty is awsome and covers everything except wear items (brakes, clutch etc.) Whatever you do make sure you get the car you're interested in inspected before purchase. This is a must. Also make sure you get a well optioned car. Sport Chrono, PSE, heated / power Sports seats, High end Bose sound system etc... I hope this helps. Take your time and find exactly what you are looking for (color, interior etc.)
  8. Just bribery for the warranty lol!..My small tokens of appreciation have covered about $7k in warranty work. Being an equities trader I would say that's a pretty good trade... :king:
  9. mcmike, Yes I agree with what you are saying.. Believe me I take care of my service manager. He looks the other way to some of my mods that may effect my warranty and I compensate him for this. But this is what I don't understand.. Why would he even give me a quote like this? He should know I would laugh.. I understand that every business has the right to make a profit. But to inflate prices to this point is absurd (ie the $400 oil change.) Perhaps he is pressured form his boss. We'll have a little chat when it comes time for me to deliver my Cristmas gift..
  10. (Sorry about the typo on the title.. It 's supposed to say "complains".) I took my Turbo for some warranty work (coolant leak) last week. I am quite good friends with the service manager. He said he would do an over all inspection of the car. He sent me an e mail at work of what they found. It said and I quote, "Client may want to consider changing front brake pads" "Only 5mm material left". And the price for this? $1,695.00!!!!!! First of all he knows I'm not an idiot. The pads new (ceramic brakes) are about 10mm thick. So 5mm means 50% material left.. Duh... Like I'm going to panic about the 5mm? And $1,695.00? I priced all the parts at Sunset and it comes to about $600. I have done the front brakes on a 996 before and know how easy and fast it is.. So lets see.. $600 for parts and $1,095.00 for labor? For a 2 hour job? WTH? I don't really understand why they try this with me.. By the way my Indie (who used to work for the dealer before starting his own shop.) will do the job for arround $850.00 That includs new dampners, spring plate kit and caliper bolts.. Ana extra $900 bucks is a lot for the dealer to wash my car... :cursing:
  11. JRW-910, You may want to see if the leak is coming from the spark plug tubes. This is a common issue with the early 99 3,4's. Oil can seep from the tube and land on the headers. It's an easy and inexpensive DIY to replace them. Also check and see if the cam covers may be leaking.. This is also common. To remove and re- seal the cam covers requires a special Porsche tool holds the cams in place. What was recommended to me was to take out the bolts and put sealer on them and re install them. You do this one-by-one without ever removing the cover. Therefore no tool needed. Sometimes just doing the bolts will do the trick. I did this on my 99 996 that had a leak just like you are describing. I did the tubes and re-sealed the bolts and no more leaks! Just a suggestion if the AOS passes the test. You have quite a car collection there! Congrats on adding the 996 to it!
  12. I have a friend who strictly tracks his GT3. . He has over 100k (all track miles) on it with only regular service. Car still runs strong. He has done the clutch..
  13. Okay this is could be the solution. There is something underneath your passenger seat that is rolling around. I had a similar situation in my 996 years ago. It drove me crazy. I had my wife ride along as well to try to discover the source. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. The sound seemed to travel. First I thought it was coming from the back... Then the front.. I was just living with the rattle when one day (when I was detailing the car) I found a little screwdriver underneath the passesnger seat. I thought to myself.. This couldn't be the sound could it? Voila! Sound gone. 996 and 997 seats are famous for loosing and trapping things under the seats. Look under both seats meticulously.. You may just find the culprit. This topic has been covered before here and others have had the same solution as me.... Good luck!!
  14. You'll be very happy with the Turbo.. :jump:
  15. I agree with the others.. Totally different cars. I had an 06 Carrerea S and traded it for an 07 Turbo 6 speed. I freakin LOVE my Turbo. I loved the Carrera too. If I had the money and the room I would have both. I agree with Dnlivet. Why not try to find a 2010 TT with PDK? That is an awesome car and WAY better than the TIP. I think you will be happy either way. But I personally would only have a PDK if I wanted an automatic..
  16. Awesome ... Glad you got that sorted for a reasonable price!
  17. She put them in the dumpster.............Nice... Imagine if you would have put her stuff in the dumpster? :cursing: I'm afraid I would have reached a whole new level of p***ed off. Sorry about your loss brother..
  18. They are both awesome cars. The GTS will be less maintenance than the Turbo. I'm a bit partial because I love the sound of that GTS!!! Definetly try to get a CPO car. That warranty is worth it's weight in gold. I'm sure some more Cayenne owners can be more helpfull than me. Good luck!
  19. Sounds like a pretty good price. I like the warranty and the upgrades too. Hopefully others with more rebuilding knowedge will chime in on this for you..
  20. I don't know about the 996 but in the 997 exhaust some of the baffles can be removed to make the gases flow better. I did it to mine before I found a used Tech Art at a good price. I don't think that a 997 TT muffler will fit on a 996 TT. Removing baffles in the exhaust does not compromise your emissions. The only thing a shop can do to get in trouble is remove your cats. In this case your not touching your cats. I would see if you can find a used system. There are a lot of them out there. Good luck..
  21. That is soooo cool. Great work to you and your techs.... 0 to 60 in 3 seconds... Woo Hoo!
  22. That is awesome.. I want one..
