  1. just put a short block V8 in the Boxster and be done with it... :drive:
  2. Fedmax, Awesome post.. I love it.
  3. Wolverine, Great write up.. I have not seen a GTS in my town..Is that new model for 2012 for the Panamera? Please post pictures when you get it!!! :notworthy: Lifetime warranty on the drivetrain and engine is a sweet perk indeed!!!!
  4. Logray, I know.. It was pretty stupid. I have zero tickets and no accidents. Usually when I'm on the freeway i set the cruise control to 72mph amd watch all the BMW's fly by me. I guess they are trying to impress me.... I would love to take it somewhere and legally try to hit 200 mph. I saw Clarkson do that.. That was fun... It amazing how much torque that car has in 6th gear. It just keeps pullin....
  5. I have factory short shifter in mine and I love it.
  6. Airrik, No I never got a ticket for the sound. I only kept them on the car for 2 weeks. I hated them. The sound was horrible. I felt like i was driving a lowered Honda Civic.. I put the cats back on and was very happy again. By the way the Fabspeed mufflers sound awesome on the 3.4. Man I miss that car. It was Glacier white with a black interior and Carrera super light 5 spoke wheels and a GT3 body kit..Now it's in Porsche heaven....
  7. Agree with you on the Turbo. I love my turbo and want to mod it more. I'm going to wait until my CPO warranty is over in a year. But who knows what I will do at that point. Maybe I'll get another Turbo or keep mine.. It is pretty rediculous how quickly you do get to 100 mph. The other day I found a stretch of completely empty freeway. I live near the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and after the parade the city gets pretty deserted. I got my car to 170mph. it did it pretty easily. That was fast enough for me. I never speed on the freeway so this isn't somethting I do alll the time. My car has about 550 hp now and I would love to have more.. That's sick....So if I get 700 will I want 800?
  8. I have driven the base model, the S, and the Turbo. I actually have grown to like the way they look. The right wheels are crucial. Any fan of the 911 will be right at home driving a Panamera. The car is incredibly nimble and the S has plenty of power... The Turbo is incredible. See if your local Porsche dealer is having a "ride and drive" near you. That way you can drive one on a course and also be taken for a lap with a pro driver. That will show you what that car is reallly capable of. The only problems I have heard of is with the "keyless entry" system. Apparently the early models stranded people. They couldn't get in their car. According to my tech buddies at the dealership this was a software issue that has since been resolved.. There are a lot of them on the road where I live. I see at least 3 or 4 a day..
  9. True! But pretty juvenile on the street. Ask me how I know... :cursing:
  10. Pictures Please!!!
  11. Most good Indie shops have a durametric. They can clear the code for you..
  12. I had side skirts, GT3 rear bumper winglets, Gt3 front bumper and and a rear wing on my 1999 996. They were from NR Automotive. Very good quality and fitment. Not cheap though.. You will have to paint no matter what. The most crucial part of this mod is who does the install and piant work. Ask pmkazz about that... Pay up and have it done right.. I agree to try to find Porsche parts if you can. Sometimes you can find a sale on Sunset, Suncoast Porsche for the whole body kit.. Don't for get about the GT3 front bumper...
  13. The Turbo is tough to make sound great. And you're right.. The only Porsche that really sounds great is the the GT3 and especially the GT3 RS. There was a new GT2 at my dealership and the guy had a custom exhaust. That sounded soooo bad a**. I have a Techart exhaust on my 2007 997 Turbo. Although it sounds better than stock i'm still left wanting... When the turbos spool up at full boost in second gear it does tend to scare women, children and the elderly.. Which is nice.... :jump: I long for the sound of a Lambo, Ferrari, Aston..... But there is just no way to make a flat six sound like a V8 or a V12. Saving my pennies for a Gallardo to keep my Turbo company.... Fabspeed stuff is great.. I had the headers and mufflers on my old 99 996 coupe. It was chipped as well. That car sounded sweet...... You might want to take a look at the K & N intake as well. My friend has one on his 997 C4S and it made a HUGE difference in the sound. At 3 to 5k rpm it just screams.. In a good way.. I know those intakes have had some bad press but he hasn't had any issues with his.. Good luck with whatever you decide. Try to find a 996 Turbo with a nice exhaust system....
  14. An idie should do it for $1500. ####ing dealers.. I hate them.. Unless it's warranty work then I love them..
  15. If you have good realtionship with an indie in the area they should be able to clear that code for you for nothing.. Takes about 30 seconds.. Congrats on the DYI by the way! Good job!!!!
  16. I tried this with my 996. If you bypass the cats you will get a bit more power but only at the top end.. You will lose torque and drivability at the low end (where almost all of your street driving is). They are obnoxious loud. And not a nice loud either... Not worth it at all IMHO. Get some good free flow mufflers and flash your CPU. You wont get a lot more power but the car will be more responsive and more fun to drive... Forget the bypass pipes.
  17. Wow I have never heard anything like that. I hope you get it figured out.. Bent realease lever could be the culprit but I don't know.. Seems odd that your tech can't diagnose the problem..
  18. Wow .. What a nice shop. If I was closer I would have showed up
  19. I have 52k on the original pads. My tech says I have at least another 15k before i need to replace them. The discs are perfect. For street driving they do not need to be replaced. (unless you damage them.) No one wants to spend $8k for a set (2) of disks...Yikes...
