  1. I blew up the picture and those are definetly 5 spoke wheels. I think that Juniinc is correct.
  2. 40 hours seems excessive to me as a well. But I know from talking to the tech that is replacing the engine on my 996 C2 that a pulling a Turbo engine is a lot more work. Twice the time from what he said (which I guess would equate to 40 hours.) Just passing along what I was told.
  3. I guess you know that I just had to chime in on this topic. ;) Options...Porsche reman engines... If you go the 3.4 route you will pay $11,000 from Porsche for the engine plus core of arounfd $2400. Then you will look at an install for another $2000+. If you want to go the 3.6 route you can but a new 3.6 reman for $8500 plus a core charge of $2700. Suncoast Porsche in Florida (Sunset wont) will allow you to return your 3.4 for $2,200. So the new 3.6 will cost you around $9000. You have the 2 year warranty as well. The 3.6 conversion and install will cost you around $4500 to $5000. So you get the 3.6 for an extra grand. I will post my feedback on my conversion when I finally get the car back which should be next week. I have driven it once and there are still some bugs to work out. I was very impressed so far on the performance. There are a lot of options and none of them are "clear cut" easy decisions. I went with what I thought was the best decision for my situation. More later :renntech:
  4. The entire design could be fabricated in Titanium and Carbon fiber.. Since Honda left Formula One maybe they have some left over they would be willing to part with. :clapping: :jump: :jump: :jump:
  5. Man those dealers make me angry.....   :renntech:
  6. That's fantastic!! :clapping: Congrats on the milestone!!
  7. Great job! Thanks for the pictures and the step by step. Your car looks fantatstic! :clapping:
  8.
  9. Sweet car.. Please post pictures once you get your new wheels! :D
  10. Don't walk away... Run Away!!!!!!! :o That car will be a money pit for you. Lets see.... A blinking coolant light (could be a switch or a water pump), bad starter, airbag light (possibly no airbag), worn seats, worn everything etc.. Although it might seem a good price for you future repairs could double that price very quickly.. Look at some other cars. Like everyone has said there are some great deals out there. To start with go to Autotrader and browse. Take your time, you will be glad you did?
  11. Foster, Yes I got the trunk open lol! I was going to pick up the car tonight but there seems to be some electronic issues still to sort out. I have waited this long I can wait a few more days. Apperently some codes got erased that only Porsche can re program. So Monday the car will go to Porsche and I should have it by Tuesday. Apperently the tech locked the car. Then when he opened it back up the car would not start. Roock told me the tech may have inadvertenly erased some codes. Roock warned me that there may be some problems like this during the install. He will fly out here Monday to finish the process and make sure everything is right. Before the problem the car ran great and the tech was very pleased. The power was strong and smooth with no issues. :D I want the car to be right so I don't mind the wait. Plus it is Friday in L.A. and it is raining. Their shop is about 30 minutes from me with no traffic (or rain.) Add Friday rush hour and rain and that could be a 2 hour drive lol! Hoped to be driving my baby this weekend but what the heck.... I'll keep the updates coming. Phillip
  12. Congratulations on what is hopefully the end of your long engine ordeal, so you can get back to driving and enjoying your car! Thanks Geoff! I will pick it up in a few hours. I'll post my reaction tomorrow
  13. Agreed. Walk away.... There are so many great cars out there without problems. Cash is king and you can get a screaming deal. Try to find something with a warranty. Yes the dealers are desperate too!
  14. Great info! Thanks!! :renntech:
  15. It's alive!!!!! :D :D :D Engine installed yesterday and it's running. Final shake down today to make sure all electronics are functioning properly. If all goes well should be driving it later today.. :clapping: Will update later! Phillipj
  16. I'm picking up my Roock 3.6 conversion tomorrow. I will definetly let the forum know my experience and give feedback :D  Phillip
  17. Thanks Loren, again I learn something :D
  18. I did not know that.. Thanks Benjamin.... I can't believe that even in the 997 GT3 Porsche hasn't fixed that RMS problem. I guess my point was the TT and GT3 don't have some of the common issues of the 3.4 and 3.6 996. I always learn something here....
  19. "Ragg Top" Google it for the best price. Get the complete kit. There are some great threads here on this subject if you do a search.
  20. From what I have heard 2005 was the worst engine build year for Porsche for the 3.6. This is according to RFM (one of the moderators here.) I wouldn't get too caught up in what you have read. This is coming from someone who's 3.4 failed at 68k miles. Make sure you check out the car thoroughly that you are considering. Get a PPI from Porsche or a reputable shop. If the car has been driven regularly that is a plus. These engines do not like to sit for long periods of time. You can avoid the common 3.6 and 3.4 issues with a Turbo or a GT3. They have a different engine (casing and oil supply system.) I'm sure others here will be able to shed further light on this subject. You can also do a search here on this topic.
  21. Awesome pics. Very nice!
  22. Joost, Call the guys at Sunset. They should be able to tell you..
