  1. Excellent... :clapping: Keep us posted.
  2. The lesson here is always keep your reciepts!!!! My wife has finally beaten that into my head. It comes in very handy to have a very organized reciept book for your car. Then when you have jerks ask for the original reciept you can say "have it right here.." Sorry to hear about your problem...
  3. Thank you sir! That is what I neded to know....
  4. $6156.00!!!!! :o Must be the run up in gold prices... :D
  5. Thanks for the reply. So these transmitters can be switched to a new set of wheels and tires? I guess what I'm saying is that I may be getting new wheels and tires. I've been told I can use the sensors off the stock wheels...the question is if I buy the wheels and tires (and have them shipped mounted and balanced) will I be able to switch the sensors?
  6. Interesting... B) Doesn't sound like the same sound as my 996 when the starter was bad. But that doesn't mean it's not the starter..Hopefully someone else will chime in with an answer now that you have posted the sound.......
  7. Like any first model year the 05's have had their issues. Mostly with engines. Porsche had it's worst engine build year in 2005. You would be better off getting and 06. Porsche made improvements to the IMS (and other areas as well I think.). I personally would step up to the 997 rather than a 996. And yes try to get a Porsche warranty. I have seen several low mile 06 "S" Carreras for around $50k.. The base Carreras even lower. Now is a great time to shop for a car.. If you find one at a dealer I'm sure you could work out a deal (with a warranty..) They really want to move their used inventory with the 2010's coming in. If you find one at a private party look into a warranty company called "Easy Care". Of all the 3rd party warranty companies they seem to have the best reputation. Here is the link... http://easycare.com/benefits/products/vehi...rvice-contracts. Be patient and look around. I have an 06 and it's an awesome car. Try to find one with the Sports Chrono and the PSE. You'll be glad you did.. Good luck!
  8. Where exactly are the TPMS sensors located? Are they inside the wheel and tire or outside? Thanks
  9. Like Loren said you have to check for fault codes or no one can help you.
  10. Great story... I'm glad you're okay. I think we could all improve our driving skills. You make a good point about accident avoidance. I have a had a couple close calls as well. Stay safe and I'm glad your skills came into play!
  11. Yes the Turbos are actually more trouble free than the M96 engines. The Turbo and Gt3 engines are a different design. As for the GT2 I have never driven one. But a rear wheel drive Turbo 500 hp Porsche sounds pretty fun to me!!! :drive: Enjoy your car and lets see what Porsche comes up with for the 998......
  12. 355, I don't have the Navi option. I can't set the time using the knob by the pressure guage. It doesn't work. I will see if the dealer can shed some light on this for me. Thanks!
  13. RFM, Interesting... I have no idea why a clock setting should be so complex. All I know is I set the time using the instructions from the manual on the PCM. I always have to set the clock again because it is slow. I believe that the time in the dash and the time on the PCM are the same. I will have to take alook to confirm that.... It is not possible to set the time in the dash like in the 996 (although the same control stalk is there it doesn't function.) I'm going to have the car checked out for some other issues while it's still under factory warranty. I'll ask them about the clock issue. Thanks!
  14. Cool. That seems like the best solution... I still think it's pretty funny that a $90k car can't keep time.... :( Who cares what time it is in your Porsche anyway right? :jump:
  15. Wifes camera? Oh I remember...I said I would post pictures.. I guess I have failed miserably at that. Regarding the clock issue.... I don't have the GPS option either. Interesting that a German clock wouldn't be able to keep proper time lol! So I guess I will just live with it. Has anyone been able to solve the issue? No fix from Porsche? My 996's kept perfect time.... Thanks for the reply..
  16. I have an odd issue with the time setting on my PCM. The clock doesn't keep proper time. Each time I set it within a week I can see it's slow. After about 3 weeks it's 15 minutes slow. How can this be? All other functions work perfectly. The car is still under factory warranty. Should I take it to the "dreaded" dealer and have them check it out? Thanks! Phillipj
  17. You should give a call to LN Engineering and talk to them about their IMS upgrade for your car. I doubt that Porsche would admit that there is anything wrong with their IMS design....... Do you have a warranty on the car? With that low of mileage you might want to consider getting an extended warranty (if you don't have one.) Sorry If I was hard on you about the clutch.... B) Good luck and welcome!
  18. Man .. You should be nicer to your car! :D P cars were never to designed to be drag cars.. Clutch gone at 20k miles? :o Anyway sorry about that rant.. <_< Yes replace the TO bearing, pilot bearing, pressure plate and clutch disk. You can buy the whole Sachs OEM kit online for cheap. Here is a link for an example of price online.. http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/2006/pors...clutch_kit.html You didn't mention what year your car was.... Porsche strenthened the IMS in the 06 through 08 models. The 05's were more problematic... In my opinion stay with OEM clutch and flywheel. I have had an aftermarket clutch and lightweight flywheel and it's not worth it. Price from an indie for a clutch (with parts) will run you $1200-$1500. After the repair try to limit the burnouts and you should get at least 40k out of your clutch. Good luck
  19. Welcome!! Depending on the knob it should just pull off. You will have to give it some force. Thera are some knobs that are held to the shift lever by a screw. Pull the leather boot away from the center console and see if you can see a screw. If so loosen it and the knob will come right off. If no screw that give it a really good PULL and it should come off. Good luck! :welcome:
  20. That car is freakin awesome.. :clapping: Those wheels are beautful..!!! :jump: You traded that in for a BMW??? :o Oh my.... Must been a hell of a Beemer......... Thanks for your input. I'm glad to hear that you didin't lower your yellow 997. I will pursue the 20's and post pics when they are on. I'm going to keep that picture of your black car for reference of a "perfect 997 Porsche" It looks sooo fast just sitting still...!!!
  21. Skizot, you are correct. Okay I know I said that I don't have the indent but I do. ;) I saw it the other day for the first time. The light and angle have to be just right to see it but it is there. Jroach, at least you know that it's normal. Happy Holidays
  22. Sweet car.. :D . Is your car lowered? It looks awesome. I really don't want to lower my car. Thanks for the reply!!!!
  23. Congrats on your new ride. Hope you are able to solve your issues. :) :welcome:
