  1. I really like the new rear bumper idea. I will investigate NR Automotive (which one did you get?). I have the GT3 body kit (front bumper, side skirts, aero wing and 18" wheels) so maybe there is a GT3 styled rear bumper that is lower too. Thanks for the suggestion. -Bo I had the same GT3 kit. My NR rear bumper had the little winglets on the sides. I think the bumper is about $1000 to $1200. I will send you a picture over the weekend. I'm at work now and don't have the file. Here is a link fir their GT3 body kit. You can see the rear bumper. It is very close to the stock bumper but covers more. http://www.nrauto.com/sub_index.asp?makeid...p;spage=Bodykit I'll PM you later
  2. Another solution is to get another bumper cover that covers more of the underside of the car. The stock cats are ugly even if they were polished. I had an NR Automotive rear bumper on my 99 996. It hung down about an inch + more than the stock bumper cover. You could barely see the cats. Just an idea. :lightbulb: Or you could buy 100 cell cats from Fabspeed that are polished stainless. Thel will give you a bit more HP, a better look, but are quite pricey.
  3. An oil change is $200-300 (9 quarts of synthetic!), although it only needs to be done every 20k miles or so. Huh? No one should pay over $150 for an oil change and if you want help your engine last change the oil every 5k miles.
  4. number9ine, The wheels are not chrome. Only the lip is polished. The picture is misleading. The spokes are silver and the inside rim is graphite. I dislike chrome wheels as well. I will take better pictures and then can tell what they really look like. Here is a pic of the wheel I have from Victor's website. The do offer a chrome version as well.. Thanks for your input!!
  5. Kirk, That is exactly how I feel about my car :D
  6. :jump: :jump: :jump:  And don't forget to get those supercharged Mercedes, Audi's and Mustangs... Once those have been eliminated finish up with the WRX Subarus B)
  7. Phillip: I like them a lot, but I NEED better photos! :jump: Regards, Maurice. Maurice, I will take pictures this weekend with my good camera. Will post asap! Phillip
  8. I got new sensors for the wheels. I wanted to leave the stock wheels in tact for the next owner...
  9. I thought the "Florio" was a bit too much for me. It's also very heavy. Also every lowered Honda, BMW Etc in my town has wheels with black centers and polished lips. I was wavering whether to get the Turismo with the black center. I decided on the silver because it kept the theme of the original Carrera wheel. Especially with the colored Porsche caps. I wish we could try on wheels like women do shoes...... :P Anyway it looks very nice without looking "Pimped". I got new TPMS sensors as well so my stock wheels stay in tact... Thanks for the feedback!
  10. Got the new wheels and tires on yesterday. I was pleasantly supprised I did not lose any ride quality with the 20's. The fronts are 8.5's with 245-30R 20's and the rears are 11's with 325-25R 20's. The wheels are "Victor Equipment" and the Tires are Pirelli "Zero Nero's". They (the tires) are very quiet and the car handles beautifully. I will take some good pictures. Just took this one with my phone in the parking garage at work today. I'm really pleased with the way it came out :D
  11. Took my car to the dealer for a check up and to have them look at a couple little issues. My coolant cap was crusting, trunk and engine compartment light didn't work etc... When I called to see how the car was doing the service guy told me the horn needed to be replaced and that they also discovered an "oil leak" This came as a shock to me because I was under the car a couple weeks ago and it was dry as a bone. I went down the next morning and said "show me the leak"... The guy said "oh the tech isn't in yet let me see what the report says".. He said "Oh it's your RMS" I said "not possible" "I was under the car and the re was no leaks from the RMS. He said "well let me talk to the tech and see". I left and came back and he said "oh it's not your RMS, one of your cam covers is "sweating".. "we'll re-seal it for you" Hmmmmm....... Long story short I picked up the car yesterday. This is what they did... Replaced horn, re-sealed cam cover, replaced coolant cap, replaced bulb in engine compartment and re-connected light in trunk. He said "it's all covered under warranty". He told me that it would have cost $1900 bucks...$1900 bucks! :o Holy smokes what a racket these guys have.. He knew I was a very knowledgable Porsche owner or they may have even replaced more things. But I have to say they treated me very well. The car was washed and beautiful when I picked it up. Just have to be careful these guys don't mess with things that aren't broken...
  12. Might just be loose muffler or posibbly a vibration for your heat shield. Take it to your indie and let us hear the good news!
  13. Congrats. You got off easy with only $2k :P My opinion is definetly the car is worth more with a new engine. If I was in the market for a used Porsche and I found one with a new reman motor I would be willing to pay a premium for that... Just my opinion.. Happy to hear you're getting your car back...
  14. Good luck on your track day Hamad...What track are you going to? Is there a shortened road course on the F1 curcuit? Sorry I can't give any advice accept you may want to tape up your front bumper, headlights and hood to prvent damage from rubber etc... Have fun!!!!
  15. The wheels are going on today...And yes I'm swapping the caps to the Porsche colored crests (and of course the colored crest valve stem caps as well.) I'll post a picture when I pick it up. Should look sweet :D
  16. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
  17. Excellent :clapping:
  18. The 3.4's are a pain in the a## to find because so many people want them. You might want to consider going up to a 3.6. There are lots of them around and then will have a true rocket. I don't believe that the conversion is much different with the 3.6
  19. Ditto. And I am happy to confirm that the Bosch 94-R is an EXACT replacement for the OEM battery in the 1997 997tt. 1997 997TT?
  20. Glad it wasn't catastrophic... I like your attitude...Just fix it and make it better. Let us know how it turns out.. B)
  21. Do a search here on the "emergency release cable " it's under the drivers side tail light. I you want you can PM me and I'll give you some tips. Once you have the rear open you can jump the car from there. The connection points are in your owners manual. Good luck! And welcome back from Iraq and thank you for your service... :clapping:
  22. I assume that being an 06 you still have some of your factory warranty left. That is not normal and you should have the dealer take a look at it.. Won't cost you anything.... Keep us posted and :welcome:
  23. Makes a great stocking stuffer
  24. MAF signal must be reduced..?? Huh..?? MAF signal MUST be proportional to the amount/volume of airflow intering the engine... At engine idle or light engine load cruising the upstream oxygen sensors are used to control A/F mixture to stociometric standard. With even moderately high engine loading the A/F mixture is enriched beyond stociometric, oxygen sensor out of range, and the MAF/IAT is used to control mixture. If you reduce the MAF output signal (to prevent overscale..?) then ECU parametric air volume "multiplier" must be adjusted to compensate.   Way over my head gentlemen....
