  1. I have no personal experience with the 997.2 cold air kit but I have been very pleased with all the Fabspeed products I have bought in the past for my 996 cars.. The system looks sound and well designed. You would have to run this by your dealer to see if it would effect your warranty. Personally I would put one on in a second if I had an 09...... I would call them to see if they would "guarantee that you will like it or your money back" I actually bought Cat bypass pipes for my 996 a couple years ago and hated what they did for my low end torque. Joe (at fabspeed) allowed me to return them for a full refund. I thought that was pretty cool. Do some more research and get all the information you can. Hopefully someone here will give you some feedback.... Good Luck!
  2. Glad it 's all covered. Too bad your Porsche experience turned out to be a tough one right off the bat. I agree with you... The warranty is the way to go with these cars. Hope you get it back soon and can enjoy it!
  3. I have no idea my friend... Looks like a question for Loren or another skilled member. Hope you get it fixed soon....
  4. Oh mannn..... I'm so sorry about your car. Whatever you hit was substantial to say the least. Are they using tank traps in the valley now? The main thing is to take your time and make sure everything gets fixed properly. As you know once you sign off on the claim any future problems are on you. Hang in there my friend. I know how you feel...
  5. I just had a client of mine (a long time BMW owner) get a 2009 PDK C4S. I spoke to him the other day (after driving it for just 2 days) and he couldn't wipe the grin off his face... He kept saying "oh my God.. what a car.." I think that says a lot about why we love these cars.... :D My wife likes my car a lot (as long as the sport button is off  ) She also enjoys going to PCA dinners and events and even going to the racetrack with me. Porsche people tend to be great people and there are a lot of women involved in the events as well as men. Maybe you should attend on of the P car rallys with your wife and she might really have a good time. Just make sure she stays warm, has good food and you drive nice..... B)
  6. The AOS itself it quite cheap. (about $150 U.S.) Its the labor that is expensive. On a 911 it's very difficult to get to. Do a search here for "AOS" Cal around and see what local indie shops charge. There are also some tests you can do to verify it's an AOS problem. Is there a chance that your oil is overfilled? This can cause similar smoking symptoms to an AOS.
  7. You can try LA Dismantlers or Oklahoma Foriegn
  8. Wow they gave you a great price for your 06.. Please post pics!!!!!!
  9. Richard, if it was his AOS he would probaly be getting "clouds" of white smoke. I agree with you on the oil change though. My car is much quieter with the 5w-40 Castrol fill syn than with the Mobil 1 0w-40. No puffs of smoke either..
  10. That is freakin gorgeous!!!! How much did the dealer give you for the 06? Please post more pictures once you pick it up. Congrats on the new baby!!! :jump:
  11. I wouldn't be too concerned. I have the same car as you (but an 06) and mine "puffs" now and then as well. I think all Porsche Boxster engines are know for this.
  12. Technically the Porsche dealer can say that anything aftermarket voids the warranty. Although there is a law on the books that states it's "on the manufacturer to prove that the aftermarket part caused the failure". Some dealetrs will honor exhaust and Chip mods and some will not. I would just ask you dealer what their stance is. If the dealer will only honor the warranty only if they do the install......... That seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen to me... There are a lot of threads here on this subject if you want more info.. Do a search..
  13. Call Jake Raby at "Flat 6 Innnovations". Google it...
  14. This is pretty normal for a Porsche. Do you drive it daily?
  15. Definetly send this issue to Porsche.. And make sure you get a name at the dealer. This is common practice for the "stealer".... Their compensation system is flawed which leads them down an evil path...
  16. You gotta love the freakin dealer.....
  17. They have a very bad reputation. There are many horror stories about them doing shoddy work and using used parts for their rebuilds. Their website looks impressive but....... :o I would search further. If you do a "Motor Meister" search here you should find some threads that may be useful. Keep looking. Talk to lots of people and try to find referrals from people who have had work done by the vendor... And for God sakes do not do business with Roock Motorsport. :censored: Talk to Jake Raby at LE engineering ...expensive but very reputable...
  18. Give these people a call. They have a very good reputation. http://easycare.com/
  19. I think most would agree here that we would want a car with records. Too many unknowns that could effect the reliability of the car down the road. Shop around and find exactly what you want. A car with a Porsche "Reman" engine replacement is a plus. Look on AutoTrader, E bay etc to get a good base for the price of the car you desire. Don't fall in love with the first couple cars you see... You have to be patient....... Oh and get the car your interested in inspected by a reputable Porsche mechanic before buying. This will be an out of pocket expense for you but well worth it. Good luck!
  20. Yeeha68, I took a look at your site and I have to say you've done an excellent job! :clapping: I commend you for tackling this project with no previous experience. I look forward to seeing the reassembly photos. Is there anything that sticks out as the most difficult in the process so far? How long did you prep and learn before you actually started? Awesome work and please keep us posted!
  21. Regarding EasyCare.. I have two friends who have had experience with them. They (EasyCare) were great to deal with and covered all claims. This can't be said for the multiple companies that advertise on TV.... Ask your dealer if they have had experience with EasyCare. I'm seriously considering them for my 06 Carrera when the factory warranty expires in March. Let us know what you decide to do..
  22. If neither car has service records I would be cautious. There are so many excellent 996 models out there why buy one with no service records? I f I were buying a used Porsche I would want to buy one from a person who took exceptional care of the car (and had all records..) Like Wross said you didn't mention if the cars in question were the same model...C2? C4? C4S?
  23. Having recently driven a 2010 turbo cab, I'd have to say your are incorrect.................. And your impression of the car was???????????????
