  1. C2,C4 and C2S are the same width. Only the C4S is wider. One inch wider I believe but I may be wrong on the measurement.
  2. You will have all the PCM insructions in your PCM manual that comes with the car. When you say you have "ordered" a 997-1 what do you mean? The new gen 911 is a 997-2.
  3. I was wondering if there was a replacement bulb for the "driving" lights (below headlight in picture) to a "whiter" bulb that would match the color of the Xenon headlights.?? I feel that the standard bulb is too "warm" in color temperature. It's just an aesthetic thing but I think it would look cleaner if the two light were approx the same color temperature. Thanks !
  4. I recently put aftermarket wheels on my 997. They are heavier than the stock wheels and I do notice a subtle difference. However I do not track my car and love the way they look. It just depends on what you want. Like 70Sixster says.... More Unsprung weight is bad no question about it. Guess you just have to weigh the pros and cons..
  5. It is not normal. With that mileage it's quite feasible that the transmission could be bad. Like Loren said check your oil levels first...
  6. Let give some props to Renntech member "qikqbn" for the great article on his 3.4 Boxster in this months "Excellence" magazine. :clapping: I have driven the car and it's brilliant.... If you haven't seen it check it out when you see the latest issue..
  7. Phillipj, i'm not an expert on lowering suspension, but though I'd suggest this as you helped me on my fabspeed air intake question.: ever think about buying Euro standard springs for your 911. If they're slightly lower, this would bring your car to Euro spec. There is a place that is great for Porsche parts - Pelicanparts.com may help. cheers. Thank you EVA350! I'll look into that!
  8. Agreed with the right wheels it would look like a stealth fighter. Guess you don't have to worry about fingerprints
  9. Found this on Autotrader. Might be a hard sell in "Flat Black". Comments? like it? Hate it? http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u...mp;rdpage=thumb
  10. have you checked out any of the Fabspeed products. I installed the fabspeed intakes on my 09 911s and the car definitely breathes better with a throatier exhaust note at rpm's over 3000. Its not obnoxious enought to be annoying either. i know fabspeed makes a ton of other exhaust applications too. +1 Fabspeed B)
  11. Wish I could help but I don't know squat about interfaces... Hopefully someone will help you out.,.
  12. I have an 06 as well. I will have to look because now that you mention it I have never noticed them :o
  13. Well I tried simple green and the blower and that worked great. But your wheels are super sharp! Not over done, just the right touch of polish. Awesome. I'm glad it worked for you. Like Loren said you can also use a product like "Rejex" on your rims. It will help keep the brake and road dirt from sticking. Zaino also has a similar product. Check out their site. They have great stuff! http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc
  14. or the Nero's
  15. + 1 on the Simple Green. Orient gave me this tip some time ago. A lot of that gunk will rinse off. I like to spray on the Simple Green on the wheels and rotors and let it sit while I wash the rest of the car. Make sure you rinse the wheels and rotors thoroughly with a strong jet of water. I also have a 4hp vacuum that is a warm air blower as well. It has a very strong blast of air and will get rid of all most all the residual water on the rotors. Then when I pull it into the garage there are just a few drops to wipe off. I'm a real freak about clean wheels...
  16. Not unusual for the dealer to want to replace your clutch after claiming that you had a "leaking" RMS.... Funny how they always seem to find a leaking RMS... They tried that one on me.. When I showed up at the dealer insisting that the tech show me the leak it mysteriously went away ... Then they said there was no leak. They realized I knew way too much about these cars and changed the story. I'm sure they would have recommended a new clutch as well.. Anyway don't get me started on dealers.... <_< But with the mileage on your car you could be due for a clutch (depending on how you drive..) Never heard of any special way to "break in" a new clutch. Just be "nice" to it and it should last another 40k miles or more.......
  17. You can order the tires you chosse from just about any source such as "Tire Rack" etc. Find a "High End" tire and suspension shop in your area (someone who works on Porsches, Ferrari's etc.) and have the tires shipped there for mounting and balancing. Those guys at Firestone, Discount tire etc. typically do shoddy work and tend to beat up your rims as well...
  18. I bounced through a cement tunnel going 125 in my old 996. Destroyed the car, tore both rotater cuff tendons in my shoulders and almost doubled my insurance. I actually should have died.... I don't do that anymore. There are no "run off" areas on the street. I would save the 145 mph runs for track days. Stuff happens real fast at 145 mph.... Not saying you shouldn't go fast... Just be careful... :drive:
  19. Oh no not that again... :o Put on your heat shield regarding Lambo doors on a 911.... :(
  20. No it doesn't lower the ride height. Only stiffens the dampners. I believe the 2010 models actually lower the ride height. But I believe that may be in only the Euro spec cars. I would like to lower the car purely for aesthetic reasons. The U.S. cars ride too high. Unless I can lower the car slightly without sacrificing too much ride qiuality I won't bother... Thanks for the reply :D
