  1. Loren, The 2000 996 is e - gas so there is no idle valve.. Is that correct?
  2. Excellent!! I'll keep that in my archives in case of such a rattle..
  3. You must be really nice to your tires..
  4. Some can be good. Others can be crap. You're getting them cheap for a reason. It's up to you.
  5. I have had several Porsches and have never experienced what you are describing. Unles you expect a Porsche tranny to feel like a Toyota this is totally normal. I have an 06 997 S with the standard shifter and it's smooth as silk. Maybe you just have to get used to the feel. I think it's a good idea to go drive another 997 so you can rule out any issues with your car...
  6. Clean your throttle body. You will be amazed how much grime is there. Use carb cleaner. There is a DIY in the 996 section I believe.. Your car will idle smoother.....
  7. AllSpeed, Its the same process. The 996 and 997-1 have the same basic engine. I was told by the folks at Suncoast that the X-51 box will fit but you will have to make the same modifications. Do a search here. I think there is a thread. Also if you call Suncaost they are very "mod friendly" and can be of help with ordering what you need.
  8. Mapoune, Thanks for the great info. I have learned something today
  9. Ouch... Sorry to hear about your plight... Hate to say it but I agree with Loren. Europe is much tougher on speeders than here in the states. I hope things work out for you and you aren't without your car for too long.... You should frame that picture though... One day it will be funny..
  10. Wow...Interesting data.. Well congratulations... It's awesome
  11. http://www.pedrosgarage.com/Site/DIY_Projects.html Here is a link that will be extremely helpful to you... Regarding paint chips... There are many kits available but I have not heard of great success with any of them. I think most of us just get a body shop to fix them (re-spray) and then get the 3M "clear bra" . It's pricey but a lot less expensive than repainting your front bumper, hood and fenders repeatedly. Hope this helps!!
  12. Did you order the car or did you find in a showroom?
  13. I think that post from Cayvman should answer your question..... We should not support business that does not support us
  14. Wow that is a beauty I love the wheels. What are those called? Are they new for the 2010 Turbo? I can imagine how quick that thing is... It's freakin awesome... Enjoy!!!!
  15. I think the Carrera super lights are the best wheel Porsche has made. And they look great.. I think the 18' 5 spokes are much better looking that the new 19' 5 spokes on the Carrera 997-1 (I have those.) Just my 2 cents...
  16. "BTW one of then mainstream car mags that's at newstands now has an article comparing many wheel sizes installed on a VW, using the same tires (except for speed rating) and wheels. In short, the largest diameter was heavier and slower. The perfomrance and mileage hit was remarkable." Here is an interesting bit of news on that subject. F1 may be going from a 13 inch to 18 inch tire and wheel in 2011. Doubt this will hurt performance,,, But then again they have a bit bigger budget than we do...... http://www.itv-f1.co...e.aspx?id=48192
  17. Sure it's not a rubber smell? Rubber does get on the exhaust and can be quite strong... Did you change tire brand or compound?
  18. Do a Google search.. You will find lots of Vendors, Also try Bumperplugs.com. Be careful of the inexpensive versions on Ebay...
  19. I'm with you on the looks. I have 20's on my 997 and they look sweet. I don't track my car and know that it would handle better with the 19's. But it's not like I'm at the adhesion limit driving around Pasadena... Still you don't need to give the dealer an obscene mark up when you can get the same wheels and tires somwhere else for much less money. I doubt the owner of the dealership needs your philanthropy
  20. Over $6k on wheels and tires from a dealer???? Why would you buy a wheel and tire package from a dealer? Just askin.......
  21. Is this the same car you are selling????
  22. "The turbo will prevent a divorce"
  23. RFM, On my 06 997 I notice that the temp stays steady in all conditions. Unlike my previous 996 cars where the temp fluctuated quite a bit. Do the 997 cars have an improved cooling system? Is the water pump more efficient? Thanks!
