  1. that is freakin awesome...
  2. Porsche makes appliances? Awesome I want a 997 toaster and a Boxster microwave (spyder).. I agree with the feedback on Consumer reports and their target audience. My father in Law told me that a Honda S2000 was faster and better than my 997. He read that in Consumer reports so it had to be true. Then he went for a thrill ride in my car (after testing a S2000) and didn't have much to say after that.....
  3. I don't believe anyone makes that wheel in a 20......
  4. Odix, What a great idea.. That's a brilliant solution...
  5. I think it looks awesome.. Nice job !! Buy some extra "Evo Lips" for that front bumper... You're going to need them. (ask me how I know .)
  6. Your car looks great. I like your friends toys as well!
  7. Chuck.. Welcome. Do a search here on oils. This is a very heated debate and has been covered here on endless threads...... Use the search tool. For what it's worth I use Castrol fully synthetic 5-40w.
  8. I like Loren's solution a lot. One thing you may try is Simple green. Spray it on and let it sit for 15 minutes before you wash. I'm a fanatic about clean wheels so I never really let them get very dirty.. If you always keep them rellatively clean they are much easier to maintain. Like Loren says do a search. There are lots of good tips....
  9. I have to disagree with on you building a GT3 for less than they currently sell for. Even an engine out of a wrecked GT3 will set you back big time (these are very sought after with folks with deep pockets.) Also you will not be able to use the same transmission or electronics. The GT3 tranny is different than the S and very expensive.. You will have to beef up the clutch as well as oither parts of the drive train. Then like you said you'll have to address the suspension. You would be much better off buying a low mile 07 GT3 which can be had for about $75k. Unless you're really an outstanding Porsche track racer I doubt you would get much more out of the 2010 GT3 than the 2007. Below is a link to a GT3 with 39k on it.... http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=279081866&dealer_id=65258125&car_year=2007&rdm=1274475693679&lastStartYear=1981&num_records=25&model=911&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=2007&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&fuel=&body_code=0&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=y&first_record=26&make=POR&color=&keywords_display=&scarid=278670055&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=91103&advanced=&end_year=2007&pager.offset=25&transmission=&doors=&max_price=&cardist=1929&standard=false&rdpage=thumb Just my 2 cents and good luck with whatever you decide to do..
  10. You most likely have a cracked coolant tank. Do a search here for a DIY replacement. This is a very common ailment for the 996. It's not an easy job but do-able.. You can order the Parts form Sunset or Suncoast for the best price. Good luck and don't drive the car anymore until you get this fixed.
  11. Wow, Interesting that all the coils were damaged. Where do you live?
  12. Please do!
  13. I hope this doesn't turn into another "mixed martial arts" oil thread again ..
  14. It's great to have you on the site Wayne. You have lots of great info..
  15. Yes go for the 06.. Single row IMS bearing.. And get a warranty...
  16. Good to hear they work just as well. Now we have an answer and I learned something
  17. That is not correct. The double row bearing IMS design in the M96 engines was not changed until 2006 (when they went to a single row bearing.) The 2009 + engines eliminate the IMS altogether. You have the same risk of IMS failure in an 05 as you would in an 01. Especially the 05 which was Porsches worst engine build year on record My advice would be to get an 06 (if your budget allows.) Unless you could find a good CPO car from an earlier year. Good luck. Lots of great cars out there. Take your time and find exactly what you want. And oh yeah.... Get a warranty....
  18. Now you know why that shop has a "rip-off artist" reputation; they are butchers.....................Google them and see what you find………… Call back and ask for Roy but act like a new customer in need of information on a rebuild. Then she will put you right through and you can speak to that scum bag.....
  19. I'm sorry to hear about your plight. I too was talking to them a couple years ago about rebuilding my M96 engine. Luckily I was saved by the folks here on Renntech and was told to stay clear. They (MM) along with Fabian Roocke should be banned from the Porsche community
  20. Believe me ..You are not the first to be embarrased by the evil floor mat.....
  21. Do a search on the ROW set-up. You will find many threads...
  22. My advice is to stick with the OEM plugs. Many folks use who use alternative brands have issues such as CEL's. Not worth the headache. Ingat ka!
