  1. Everyone I know that has tried the Hankook's on their 911's loves them. Best deal out there. The Michelin's are way over priced. I'm considering them (The Hankooks) for my Turbo. 800 bucks? Sounds good to me. Do a Google search for a Car & Driver tire comparisom. The Hankooks did very well..
  2. I got Porsche OEM off E Bay for my Carrera. The real ones are there..
  3. Does it add any more HP or increase gas mileage? Nope on both questions...
  4. Thanks Geoff: Good advise. The noise is only intermittent and does not bother me much. But, I will take your advise and have my wife run beside my car while I enjoy a nice beer in the sunlight. Eric What happened to our language skills?. I see this all the time and it really bugs me.... The correct word is "ADVICE" not "advise". This is basic english stuff. Computers and cell phones have ruined us.. Sorry had to rant on that.....
  5. Check out this story.... http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?id=49370
  6. Sounds like your brake cable may have slipped (or even broken.) There is a DIY on "how to adjust your parkeing brake". Do a search for that and you will see instructions. You access the cable by removing the floor of your center oddments compartment. You lift up the rubber abd you will see a screw to remove. This is a pretty easy adjustment once you get to the cable and lever.. There are adjustments on each rear wheel too but that doesn't seem to be your issue. Here is a link that may help you. http://forums.rennli...ng-console.html Good luck
  7. Headliners and seat bolsters. The new 2011 GTS 911 has more Alacantra touches. You might want to take your cues from that car. Here are acouple links http://www.porsche.com/usa/ http://www.porsche.com/microsite/speedster/flash/default.aspx?language=en-us&market=PCNA&pool=usa&instance=907&variant=&section=&showintro=true&bandwidth=dsl&width=1920&height=1200&deeplink=&model=&from_dvd=&dvd_data=&specialguest=0&startWithLogin=false Hope this helps. I think it's a great idea by the way..
  8. Since mine has the clear bra (which means I'd have to replace it to fix the holes) I just bought a nice Porsche logo to go on the front license plate bracket. It doesn't look bad but I'd rather not have it at all. Here is another spoiler lip to consider (if you plan on getting the holes fixed but want a different look.) http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/Rinspeed/Front-Bumper/Front-add-on-lip-spoiler-for-standard-bumper/533615/ I wonder what kind of idiot would do that to our cars? Take care!
  9. My bumper would look like s*** if I used bumper plugs. The animal that screwed in the license plate used wood screws about 1 1/2 inches long and the holes are crooked and irregular. It would look awful with plugs. Maybe Biopsea's is the same..
  10. Awesome car. Love the Silver too. Congrats and let the mods begin!:clapping:
  11. I recently traded in my 06 Carrera S for a 2007 Turbo and someone did the same thing to the bumper with 4 screws :censored: . I feel your plight...My bumper has a clear bra which complicates things even more.. I wouldn't be too concerned about a new bumper hurting resale of the car. If you do upgrade just make sure it's a high quality piece. Original Porsche is the best. If you upgrade to the Aero GT3 bumper Porsche suggests that you add the rear wing as well for stabilty. That bumper creates a lot more downforce than the stock item. The rear wing may not be what you want.... You could also have the bumper repaired and add a front lip. They look nice (understated) and are easy to have installed. Atttached is a pic of an S with a CF version of the lip. Lots of companies make them. Hope this helps
  12. I got one too.. And yes it is a beast :clapping: Mine had 35K miles but had all the options I wanted and is a CPO car. Got it for $75k It's freakin awesome as you know! Thanks for the reply though!
  13. Congrats! That is a beauty. Yes unfortunetly Bose sucks. I have what is supposed to be theh "top of the line" and it's weak. I agree with the Subwoofer idea. Thats the best solution. Enjoy your new toy and it awesome it's a CPO.!!!
  14. Agree with the price for a full refinish. If you have a polished rim and the damage is minor you can also have a mobile repair guy come to your home or office. I have a guy I use here in L.A. who does excellent work. I just had him come and touch up some small blemishes (on 3 wheels) on my 997 Turbo (stock wheels.) He charged me $100 bucks. Such a deal and they look perfect. If you have substatial gouges then you have to send them out..
  15. If you buy a used Carrera get an 06 or newer. They have the upgraded IMS bearing. I personally wouldn't hesitate getting and 06 or newer. Stay away from the 05's. Like you said you can eliminate the IMS issue altogether with an 09 or newer. Guess it depends on your budget. Whatever you buy make sure it has a warranty. I would have a P car without one. Good luck
  16. You're funny 'I don't need anymore Turbos". Too many Turbos....That's a good problem to have.!!. I have a freind who years ago bought the last generation 996 Speedster new from the factory. To this day it only has 300 miles on it. That is a worth quite a bit of money. Just seems hard to imagine how a base 99 996 Carrera could be worth anything. Even if it was one of the first ones in the US. But the collectable market is ever changing and it seems like you have done your research. Good luck with whatever you decide to do with the 996.
  17. Yes I have the sickness as well.. I rub on mine for hours and hours. Then just sit back and stare at it and say "dam that;'s a sweet car". My dogs think I'm crazy and my wife is used to it. Then of course driving it puts another smile on my face...You will find so much information here for your new toy. Please post pics! Congrats! :welcome:
  18. I can't even imagine what the dealers will be asking in premium for one of those. That is a sweet car. I love all Speedsters Porsche has ever made.:clapping:
  19. NO Motor Meister! Also stay away from Fabian Roock They are crooks and stay far far away. There are many competent engine builders. Contact Jake Raby at LN engineering. Google him and you will get his contact info. There are a few very good engine builders here is So Cal as well. I see that you are in Canada. I know there are some good guys there. Do a search here and you may find some threads. Be very cautious and do your research. I'm sorry about your situation (I have been in your shoes.) Good luck
  20. wow that's pretty cool. I haven't seen that..:clapping:
  21. Agreed, I don't think any 1999 996 will ever be worth anything in the collectable market. Spend the money on a 997S or a 996 Turbo..
  22. Yes the Tech Arts are nice as well!
  23. Congrats on the new car! If it were me and I had the room I would keep the Carrera. regarding the mods.. Just be aware that you will be going through lots of front spoiler lips if you lower the car. But it will look cool  And you will lose a bit of ride quality (depending on the springs you choose.) That exhaust system looks nice. Haven't heard of that brand though. The specs on that K & N filter says "Not legal in California" that could be a problem for you during smog checks and could cause a CEL. Perhaps you're planning to put the stock box back on when it's time for smog. Now you have two... I love it...:clapping: Enjoy!
  24. Etienne, Congradulations on the new car! You're are going to love it (but you know that.) Get an extended warranty (if you don't have one) With such low miles it will be easy to get. I will never have a Porsche without a warranty (been bitten once,,) Enjoy! :drive:
