  1. Great info Paul. Thanks!
  2. Oh boy... Do a search here.. You should find a lot of info on swaps. It is a PITA and you would be better off just buying another car.. The engine will "fit" fine.. But that is not the issue..Trust me on this one.. Unless of course you are a gifted wrench with a lot of experience in electronics and you have deep pockets.. Honestly.. It's not worth it... Just me 2 cents.. I have been there so I know...
  3. I have done the Softronic flash, Tech Art exhaust, GT2 spark plugs, BMC filter and a larger Cayenne Turbo throttle body. The flash alone will transform your car. It makes a HUGE difference. The other mods add more perfomance. I drive the crap out of my car almost everyday. I'm not concerned about damaging anything. I have a good relationship with my dealer so the flash is not an issue. Many dealers do not have a problem with the Softronic product. Just make sure you go through Softronic and not Vivid Racing for the flash.. Trust me on this.. Or if you have a good relationship with your dealer and the car is still under warranty see if they will install it for you.. As far as HP gains I doubt that the flash will give you that much of a gain (135 hp.) But it does transform the car into a beast. If you want even more power after these mods you have to upgrade the turbos and intercoolers. This additional HP usually means and upgraded clutch as well. It gets very expensive if that is an issue. And of course it puts more strain on the engine, But the car will be an absolute rocket if it is set up properly. Question is ... Do you need 650 hp? Or just want it.. A friend of mine that races P Cars told me to upgrade my sway bars to improve handling. This is relatively inexpensive mod and is supposed to make a huge difference in the Turbo's tendency to understeer. It makes the car much flatter in corners and they are adjustable. This will be the next mod for my car. Here is a link.. http://www.championm...oduct-p/321.htm You can go to coilovers but you will lose the PASM feature. Bilstein makes a coilover that works with PASM but some say they are not worth the hefty price tag.. I love all my mods. I recommend them to any Turbo owner,,, PM me if you have any questions...
  4. Looking forward to seeing the finished product...
  5. It is a CPO. Porsche inspected the car and I purchased the extended CPO warranty. I have a lot of friends there so it helps..
  6. Good job. I'm suer that was not an easy task...:clapping:
  7. "Be patient...they are great trucks and you'll find the right one eventually. You won't find perfect - eventually I will need to do the coolant pipe update on mine - but you'll get pretty darn close. " +1 on that advice!:clapping:
  8. I believe this to limit water and other debris from getting in the box..
  9. Awesome car.. That 's a great deal.
  10. I don't have experience with Cayenne's but I do with 911's. I would say that you should continue to look for a lower mileage CTT. Newer the better. I believe the 05's do have issues with plastic cooling pipes failing and Cardon shafts.(I could be wrong about accusing the TT's with this.) Porsche's are great cars but just like the "Benz money pit" you could be walking into another one. My advice would be to pay up for a newer lower mileage CTT. Even better try to find a Porsche CPO warranty car from a Porsche dealer. I know you have fallen in love with the car but you already are being warned with rattles etc. !00k is a lot of miles. There are a lot of cars out there. Unless you have to have a Turbo don't overlook the GTS and the S. Both great cars especially the GTS.. Good luck and that's my 2 cents... Phillipj
  11. I had some warranty work done on my car (2007 997 TT) last week. I bought an extended CPO warranty from my dealer when I bought the car. I paid $3,200 for 2 more years/100k miles. I wasn't worried abuout the power train when I bought the warranty. It was everything else I was concerned about.... I took the car in last week for a bunch of little things... The CD was not ejecting properly out of the PCM, The Carbon pieces on my door storage area (lid) were warping, The cup holder strip was not seating flush as it should and finally the interior switch that open the trunk stopped working. Well they fixed everything... Replaced the entire stereo unit, replaced the whole cup holder assembly and replaced the Carbon Fiber on the doors. The price tag ???? $5,500! I'd say that warranty was money well spent indeed! My Service manager said "bring it back soon! Find some more things wrong with it! I'll replace the whole dam car if you want me to!" They don't care how they get paid as long as they do.. Funny business the car business... If you can get a CPO. Especially if you have a good relationship with your dealer..
  12. Congrats on the new car and I like your attitude!:clapping: I would do the IMS retrofit if I were you. It's just good insurance..
  13. Awesome...Good luck wiih your project!
  14. I like that bumper! That really looks great.:clapping:
  15. I bought a CPO additional 2 years / 100k on my 07 Turbo for $3,200. Already I have replaced the clutch accumulator, PCM CD problems, Interior hood switch, Cup holder strip problem and CF interior pieces replaced . I believe I have already re couped what I paid for the warranty. If you can get the CPO that is the way to go. If not.. Be very careful. I plan on taking the car in for every tiny little problem I can find. Porsche hates me but my service manager loves me ;^).... He said and I quote "I'll re build the whole dam car if you want me to"..:clapping:
  16. Sorry I was replying to the Rock88's post who does have a Turbo.. Sorry for the confusion..
  17. Welcome and awesome car! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
  18. Everything I see and read points to Softronic. My wife is warming up to the idea, so as soon as I get my next bonus (and if she stays in a good mood :)) I will be getting the Softronic flash for my 997 Turbo. The people who have used this seem to really love the results. I also have two great dealerships and since I have several Porsches, have established a good relationship with the service departments. The mechanics have indicated the flash works great and does not harm anything (after warranty ends...of course). Not speaking officially on behalf of Porsche obviously. Good luck. DC DC, The flash will transform your already potent Turbo into a beast. You will be amazed at the difference...
  19. Agree with the Rock. Get the Softronic. You install it yourself with a laptop and keep your stock map in case you need to reinstall it.. They (Softronic) will also customiize a map for the mods you have.. I have a good relationship with my dealer as well and they look the other way when it comes to my flash affecting my warranty. Give Dan Malmerstein a call at Vivid racing.. Good luck. I think you will be really happy with it....
  20. Just to add make sure you get the Porsche OEM alternator. Try Sunset or Suncoast Porsche for the best price. A lot of folks have replaced with an aftermarket brand and had them fail rather quickly.... Good luck..
  21. Herman.. Totally agree on the driving classes. I have a modded 997 TT and I realize I really don't know how to drive the car. Going t o put my next dollars into driving classes.. Not more HP.. Good luck with your car!
  22. Wow! Awesome car.:clapping: . Congrats.. I hope that you have the driving skills to match that cars capabilities. Let us know when you finally get to let that beast breath!
  23. This thread seems to have become a peeing contest....
