  1. I did not know that.. I stand corrected... You might want to try the guys at Wheel Enhancement for fitment questions. They sell just about everything.. Good luck!
  2. 997 Turbo wheels are 19's..
  3. Have no fear GIA, Your 997 is pretty much exactly the same to work on as your 996 was.. Once you get past the airbox.... Yeah.. like it or not the dipstick is a thing of the past on new cars. I miss having one as well.. Enjoy your new car!
  4. For those of you into Porsche racing and living in the So Cal area you have to go see the ALMS race at Long Beach. It was awesome. The paddock is completely open to the public and you go meet and talk to your favorite drivers.. Unfortunetly Patrick Long (flying Lizard) was leading the GT2 race when he missed his braking point because of a slow moving Ferrari. He hit the wall, broke the suspension and that was it. He had just passed the Corvette and the BMW M3 for P1.. Next year try to make it out there if you missed it.
  5. That is a very wise decision.....
  6. Potluck68, That's too bad. If you continue to have problems go see Scott at Rusnak Porsche Pasadena. He is the service manager. He's a good guy. If it comes to that let me know and I'll speak to him about your issues.. Good luck with you meeting with Porsche..
  7. You might have to take it to the dealer to have them re set the immobilizer. They are the only ones that can do it. Hopefully you are in KL where there is a dealer..
  8. It's possble that you have an issue with the clutch but not likely. Unless you are really hard on clutches they last for a long time. I agree I would drive anothe 911 and see if you get the same feeling. Good luck and let us know what you find!
  9. If you want a full race /track only car I would agree.. Get a used CUP car. You can probably get a great deal with extra parts. Used race cars aren't worth much... Here is a link to get you started.. http://www.theracersgroup.com/carsforsale/carsforsale.html Good luck and Welcome!
  10. Wow.. Sounds like a lemon in some ways.. I got a base 2011 Cayenne as a loaner a couple of weeks ago and I loved it. I didn't want to give it back. Understand with Bose sound systems that (they suck.) I have the highest end Bose in my 997 Turbo and it's weak to say the least. But it should sound better than you're describing. Have you adjusted the settings? Regarding your heated seats. Mine cook when i turn them on.. That doean't sound right that you can't feel them... I would contact Porsche immediately with your issues. Tha's a brand new car and there is no excuse for that nonsense. I guess I must be lucky.. I never have problems with my car... But I don't have as many electronic gadgets as you do either.. Who is your dealer in L.A? I hope you get this stuff sorted... Good luck!
  11. This is my first, and probably last Porsche. I don't believe a car should be designed in such a way as to require dealer service for every minute issue, especially for a vehicle that's riddled with so many. Okay here is my take on German cars. I have had BMW's and MBZ's and lately Porsches. The Porsches have been the most trouble free of all the cars. When a German car is over 6 years old it can turn into a money pit. ANY German car.. The 04 Cayenne had a lot of issues. Which Porsche has rectified (at least most of them.) Instead of saying "I will never buy another Porsche" say "I will never buy another Porsche without a warranty" I personally will never have a Porsche without a warranty.. Period.. Cheap insurance and no headaches..
  12. That is not normal and you should have that checked.. It could be a shift cable issue. I have had 4 Porsches.. 2 996's a 997 Carrera S and a 997 Turbo. None of my cars ever had an issue going from second to third gear. If it's your shift cable it's not a big issue. Just an adjustment. What kind of car did you drive before the 911? Maybe you just have to adjust to the Porsche gearbox. Hope this helps..
  13. Awesome.. Good luck on your trip and enjoy that beauty!:clapping:
  14. Congrats on the GTS! Yes please do get a PPI (Porsche inspection)...An absolute must. The GTS is my favorite Cayenne. Those things are SWEET! Please post pics if you get it!
  15. Get a 997 Turbo, GT3 or a 997-2 Carrera and you won't have to worry about the engine. Oh yeah and a Porsche warranty is a big plus if not a "must". Just my 2 cents...
  16. Nothing wrong with either the K & N or the BMC filter. Like Sunnyside said they will work better on a car with mods to make use of the increased air flow. Especially a Turbocharged car. You will get more sound. As long as you follow the instructions with the filter (not over oiling) you wont have any problems with your MAF. I have used them on my BMW's (back in the day) and all my Porsches and I have never had a problem.. Just my 2 cents..
  17. Bone stock with no Sport Chrono on should get about .9 and with SC on about 1.2 bar on boost gauge. You can flash the DME through OBDII and get around 80 HP gain without other mods, but other mods help. Also the difference between what you have and a 997 Turbo is not even close. If you were to race one straight line in your 996 or even 997, you would feel like you are in neutral :) With exhaust, intake, and dme flash....SCARY! Good luck. DC Good scary.! It's sad but I still want more power. I guess that is a disease we all have...:clapping:
  18. I can't tell you about the boost pressures but I can tell you about the difference in cars.. I had 2 996's (a 3.4 and a 3.6) and a 2006 Carrera S. I now have a 2007 Turbo six speed. The difference is straightline speed in enormous. It will make you giggle everytime the boost kicks in (especially in 2nd and 3rd gear.) I have done some mods to mine (chip, exhaust, filter and larger throttle body.) It freakin screams. I drive the crap out of it everyday. Do yourself a favor and get the car checked by Porsche or a good tech. Although the Turbos are pretty trouble free you should have everything checked out. Well worth the money. It is unlikely that the car you drive will have any issues with boost hoses etc.. Just drive it hard and don't be nice to it.. There are lots of Turbos out there so be patient to make sure you get the one you want. Good luck!
  19. Great job Alex.. Looks fantastic.:clapping:
  20. Welcome and congrats on the new car!:clapping:
  21. Agreed! :clapping:
  22. It was awsome. Used the begginer automatic trans kart. Still gets up to 80 MPH. Did a half day.. I was exhausted after.. learned a lot. There were some really fast guys out there in shifter karts.. Going to do it again soon...:clapping:
  23. Strange that Softronic would say that... Anyway I didn't do the labor myself on my mods. When I bought the car I requested the 40k service be done and at the same time the flash and plugs were done. I had my tech install the exhaust. I was going to do it myself because of my experience working on my 996 and 997 Carreras. My tech convinced me that it was quite a bit of work so I let him do it. The bumper cover has to come off as well as the Wheel liners, Y pipe and intercoolers. I was there and observed the install and was glad I let him do it. It would have taken me a long time to say the least. I did of course replace the filter myself and myself and my tech did the Throttle body and plenum. Not a hard job but you need some special tools and my tool box is not that extensive. ( Lots of swivel / stubbies etc..) I put the exhaust tips on myself. That's a 10 minute job. As far as the sway bars I haven't done that mod yet. My tech tells me the same thing that Paul said. The rear sway bar is easy but the front is a PITA. I may do what Paul did and do the rear first and see what kind of results I get.. Hope this helps and let us know what you end up doing. If you decide to go for the big turbo's etc. do your research. I have a friend who sent his stock turbo's to Champion Motorsport. They rebuild the Turbos and send them back to you. He also added larger intercoolers and silicon boost hoses. He aslo changed to the upgraded diverter valves. Softronic then wrote a program for th mods. That car is sick fast. Fastest car I have ever been in. About 600 RWHP. Champion does great work albeit pricey. Stay away from Vivid Racing. Here is a power kit form Champion http://www.championmotorsport.com/product-p/cms-997t-1-pk.htm Only $26k without install :cursing: A lot of stuff you don't really need in that kit. Carbon fiber airbox, Carbon plenum and carbon Y pipe. All engine bay "eye candy" really . That's about $5k you can deduct right there.. Good luck with whatever you do!
