  1. The dealer failed miserably.. :censored: When we arrived we asked about driving the 991 and they said "Oh sorry.. We sold them all." What ## holes. They advertise testing the 991 as a perk to get you to bring your car in for inspection.. Knowing full well they wont have any cars available.. They had a beautiful white "S" with PDK in the show room. I like the new interior very much EXCEPT for the new center console. I'm not a big guy (5, 8") and my knee hits it. It feels like it's in the way. A taller driver would find it even more irritating I would imagine.. My tech there said to me and my friend...... "Don't even drive the new 991.. You'll hate your present car because the 991 is so much better." What a bunch of crap that is.. I have a 997 Turbo and my friend has a beautiful 997 C4S. We'll be just fine in our present toys for a while yet.... You think 993 owners hate their present cars? I don't think so...Porsches are sweet no matter what era....
  2. Just goes to show NEVER run these cars out of gas. It always end up in tears... Right Loren?
  3. Call the guys at EVO Motorsport.. They are the one of the best. STAY AWAY FROM VIVID! You don't really need to upgrade your clutch unless you want 700+ hp. Be cautious before you take the plunge on the big Turbos. I have the same car as you and the same mods (except the intercoolers.) I too have been contimplating larger Turbos. Most of your power will come from betwwen 75mph and 150mph. (which is kind of unusable unless you track the car.) Your 0-60 time will not improve and you will have more turbo lag. Do a lot of research on Modded 997 TT cars and you will see there are some issues with drivability. It's up to you and what you want. Call the guys at EVO. I have spoken to them and they are very helpful and won't try to sell you things you don't want or need.. They can give the straight info regarding your clutch questions.. Good luck!!
  4. You shouldn't be too concerned. You will get a warning on your dash when your oil level falls below specified levels. In my car about one quarter to one third of a quart brings it back to acceptable levels. I drive the crap out of my car and it likes oil about every one thousand miles.. As Hroussard says NEVER over fill...
  5. My dealer is having a service clinic on Saturday. They are going to be offering test drives in the 991 that day as well. They have a couple on the lot (991's) and I saw another one near my house last night. So apparently customers are taking delivery of them.. The 991 looks beautiful in motion. It the first time I have seen one live and moving. I like it a lot. It's gorgeous. The one I saw was an "S" and in graphite... Can't wait to drive it!!! :drive: Check with your dealer near where you live and see if they are offering something similar. I know all the people at my dealer were trained on the car a couple weeks ago..
  6. When I did my swap a couple years ago there were not too many options available to rebuild my 3.4. The reason I went for the 3.6 was the price. It wAs a mistake.. It turned into a nightmare.. Now you have a lot more people rebuilding the 3.4's. That is the route I would go if I were you..
  7. Can we see pictures please? :jump:
  8. They replaced the leather seat cover on my insistence. The only problem is that I have one new seat bottom and the rest of the car doesn't match. I need to get my wife to drive with me more to get some oil in the leather. Just that seat cover (bottom) is $1000 by the way. Gotta love Porsche.. Also gotta love my warranty too. Although the idiot tech did the damage the dealership managed to get my warranty to pay for it.
  9. Beautiful car by the way!! Congrats! I wouldn't be concerned with mixing different brands of synthetics just for a top off. Just get and oil change soon and then keep your oil consistent.. I like the Castrol full synthetic 5-40w in my Turbo. It's a Porsche approved oil and your engine will run a bit quieter. There is a lot of debate on oil so I'm not going to dis the Mobil one. Castrol is a great oil and is recommended by Tuners that I respect.. Enjoy that beauty and drive the he$$ out of it!
  10. LOL! I got nothin but love for alll my Porsche brothers! No the white one was the one I crashed and destroyed. I still kick myself for that. I'm lucky I survived the crash.. Can't say the same for the car. I got more comliments on that car than I do the Turbo... It was a beauty.. I wish I still had it..
  11. Looks good but like Logray said it would be nice to see a close up...Is that a "Glacier white" 996? I freakin love that color on a Porsche. I used to have a 99 996 that was Glacier white the a GT3 body kit. My first Porsche I loved that car.......
  12. Can't hepl you with your codes. But I can give you some useful advice.. Stay clear of anything "Agency" makes. It is of poor quality and poor fitment. Look into the more quality tuners such as EVO. I wasted a lot of money on their (Agency) garbage on my 997 Turbo. The phrase "AP Support" is an oxymoron. Hope you get your problems sorted..
  13. Completely agree with Jay.. If a prospective Porsche buyer sees that you have done your own service (and he or she is knowedgable) there are no issues. Going to the dealer for service is pointless unless you have a great relationshhip with your dealer. Some will even match Indie prices in order to have the work go through their dealership. Most gouge... $260 for an oil change.. Please... :cursing: The most important thing is that the service was done as per Porsches schedule and done with approved parts and lubricants (and documented of course.) All the best..
  14. No programming. Your ECU will re=learn by itself. I'm selling my Tech Art Exhaust (for the 997 Turbo) if anyone is interested. Comes with O2 sensor extension bungs to prevent a CEL...PM me..
  15. Yes it is.. Same goes for the Turbo. It can be picked up for half as well. Let us know what your finding out there.. :king:
  16. gomarlins3, That's too bad. I have quite a few really good indies near me.. Yes doing your own maintenance can save you a lot of money...Oil, filters, spark plugs, brakes all very easy to do.. Just have to have the right tools amd a good jack and stands..
  17. Samuel, I had to laugh when I read your post. I too have almost physically attacked personel at the dealership. As a rule we never go the the dealership for anything other than warranty work. They are criminals and like the other gentleman said they pray on the ignorant. Glad you got your tires sorted..
  18. If you do a search you should find a lot of threads on this. Here are a couple things.... Stay away from 05's' Go 06 and newer. 06 + had the upgraded IMS. Make sure you get the sport seats, Sport Chrono, thicker steering wheel, PSE (Porsche sport exhaust.) and get the premium Bose sound (which sucks but it's as good as Porsche gets.) Also try to get a CPO car from a dealer. Warranties rock on these cars. There are a LOT of 06's out there. Make sure you look at a lot of them and get the exact color combination and options you want. The 991's will hit the showrooms soon. Dealers will have extra impudus to move the older 997's. Good luck! Make sure to look at the C4S too! They may hold their value better..
  19. So you are saying that it makes sense to have my dealer charge me $260 bucks for an oil change while under warranty? Or charge me $1.600 for front PCCB brake pads? Or how about this most recent time I took my car in for warranty work on the cup holder and the tech ruined the leather on my seat? (I had had to fight to get the seat cover replaced by the way.) Was this done "for my protection"? WTH? Give me an ####ing break.. You have stock options in Porsche?
  20. Agreed.. There are some great people out there and they should be recognized.. :jump:
  21. If you really want an awesome exhaust call the guys at BBI Autosport. I have the TechArt now which is nice. But their exhaust sounds soooo bad a##. It is also much lighter. It's black powder coated and all hand made at their shop. About $4200 to $4500.. German 200 cell cats. Not a bad price considering a new Tech Art is $6,000.. I'm getting one in a few months.. Here is their link. The owners name in Betim. He's a really nice guy.. http://bbiautosport.com/ Oh yeah... Congrats. on the Turbo!!! You think it's awesome now wait til you do your ECU and exhaust.. :jump:
  22. I just had my passenger seat cover ruined by a careless dealer tech who repaired my cup holder under warranty. Apparently he had soemthing in his fat A## back pocet that pressed and 2 inch permanent "dent" in the leather (see picture). When I picked up my car i saw the damage and said WTH? My service manager said he would take care of it.. Then his boss tried to tell me it was "normal" wear and tear and wasn't their fault.. I take IMMACULATE care of my car and know where every flaw is.. I tore into this idiot like a wolverine. Not a blemish on the drivers seat but the passenger seat has worn???? Needless to say they agreed to replace the leather seat cover..We'll see how it turns out. I'm not the most "easy going" guy when it come to my P car....
  23. Looks like it wants to compete with that new Range Rover. I agree with Wvicary.. Not so fond of all the names......
  24. Ohhh.... The Turbo S is awesome...Still too pricey I think.... When the new Turbo comes out the 997 Turbo S should be more reasonable... Yes I love my car.. I'm dying to get that exhaust lol! Good luck shopping my friend..... :jump:
