  1. Purchase the newest you can afford. Won't the '07 give you some factory warranty??
  2. The coolant pipes that run under the intake manifold are a problem on the V8 engines. Porsche has issued a TSB and updated parts to correct this fault.
  3. You can bridge the temp sensor ( ignition key on or engine running) located in the top of the oil cooler and see if the fan is sound or drive the car up to temp then idle it until the fan comes on. Temp gauge reading of approximately 3/4 should bring the fan into play.
  4. You couldn't speak to PCNA and get some sort of goodwill repair? Being only 45 days off warranty period it seem odd that some agreement couldn't be reached.
  5. The rear battery is the starting battery but it wise to check the condition of the main battery also. I only reset I know of is to leave the ignition key in the on position for one minute before starting the engine after battery replacement. This is to help in the adaption of the electronic throttle bodies. If the bigger amp/hour battery would fit then I would use it.
  6. What part of the country are you located in?
  7. Just one other thing to check, the front brake pads can cause a rattle. Drive over a bump you know will cause the noise then drive over it again but this time apply slight pressure to the brake pedal. This will lightly apply the brakes and stop the pads from rattling. If the noise stops then you have a brake problem.
  8. Vehicle should be safe to drive, just keep the oil level in check.
  9. How much coolant are you having to add? It could be that the old cap purged some out, also check at the front of the vehicle as that is where the cooling radiators are located.
  10. Looks like you have more then one leak. The solenoid for the variocam might be one of them.
  11. If you have no check engine light you should pass with no problems.
  12. Brake caliper to wheel carrier bolts are torqued to 200 fl/lbs. No need to open/remove the hydraulic line. Pay attention as the rotors are marked left and right.
  13. No idea as to your question but you should never use a ohm meter to measure the air bag as it could set it off. It's safe to measure the wiring harness as long as it's removed from the ciruit.
  14. Any check engine lights? It's best to check for codes and post them here to atleast give a starting point.
  15. Sorry but I know nothing about the PDK but it sounds as if your dealer is feeding you a line. Is there another dealer you could visit?
  16. docdyh- just click on the link in mrgolf147 post, loads of pics about the install.
  17. I have never heard of an engine mount causing the engine to fail. The front engine mount has a high failure rate and has been updated. I think the mount is very easy to change out but I have access to a lift. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate it a 3.
  18. The condensors are exposed to road debris as they sit forward of the coolant radiators and can easily be damaged resulting in a leak.
  19. I would get a PPI done. Be sure it's the service reminder and not a check engine light. The service reminder just needs to be reset but only the durametric tool or the Porsche tools can reset it.
  20. Guess work as to what it might be just adds confusion to the mix. It could a loose hose clamp on a coolant hose and the coolant is pooling on the block and dripping down. Best take in to a good indie or dealer and they should be able to spot the cause of the leak in no time at all. The water pump is a straight forward and easy replacement. I would recommend getting it towed as we don't know the real cause of the leak, don't risk overheating these engine just to save the cost of a tow truck .
  21. The odd time in the repair of these vehicles we just have to guess and try a new known good part. Unfortunately the ECU's are very expensive but if it doesn't cure the fault I wouldn't be expecting the customer to pay for the part. I have found it very rare that the ECU's actually fail, software update or reflash yes, but a fault in the unit itself no. The wiring harness or ground faults are much more common. Please keep us updated on this problem.
  22. Should still be covered by the factory warranty period. Call your local dealer for conformation.
  23. Last of the air cooled turbos would be the 993 in 1998. I think they made a "S" version also. Someone with a lot more knowledge then myself will hopefully chime in.
