  1. 1- CEL can be set off by many reasons, safe to drive unless the light is flashing. 2-Misfire,poor engine performance, flashing CEL are signs of ignition coil faults. 3-Just follow the recommended schedule in the booklet. 4-A CEL will affect fuel consumption. You need to have the code read out to direct the repair. I think that is way too much money for coils/plug replacement. Search for a local indy garage who is familiar with the Cayenne or better yet just replace the units yourself. There are a few topics on this forum about the procedure and it's very easy to complete if you have the correct tools.
  2. Are you sure you are not confusing a ground cable with a power cable? There is a power junction block that has several fuses and a breaker type device under the seat. These are complicated vehicles and it might be best to take it to someone familiar with the system on the Cayenne.
  3. Center console is the most common cause or after market radio installed. You'll need to have the codes read to pin-point the problem.
  4. It's the main battery at fault right? Just replace it and you're sorted.
  5. What are you stumped about?? You need a battery.
  6. I think you're over reacting, it could be nothing at all. These engines are not known for head gasket problems and you say you didn't over heat the engine so all should be well. Get the coolant pipes replaced and enjoy your ride again.
  7. Clean the throttle body/idle speed motor. You don't mention the year or milage.
  8. This is new to me as I have understood that the rear battery was for engine cranking only.
  9. How many miles on the vehicle? It could be a spark plug or coil starting to fail. Have it inspected by the dealer.
  10. It's very hard to fault trace these problems without being guided by fault codes. The systems are so inter-linked that the intermittent failure of one system often affects many. Have you had the basic checked like battery and charging systems?
  11. I found the reservoir tank failed one time. It didn't leak using a smoke machine and I didn't find the leak until I submerged it under water and applied 1 PSI of air to it. Drove me around the bend trying to cure the secondary air codes.
  12. These mounts just fail with age but I never recommend lifting the vehicle using the engine. I'm not trying to start another war about what is the best way to lift your car... just offering my opinion.
  13. If you don't know the history of the batteries replace them both. They are a different group size and you don't need to remove the seat, just the front bolts and it will pivot on the rear hinges.
  14. Best advice I can give is find another mechanic. The fuel pump relay needs to see a engine speed signal to energize as well as a crank signal. It sounds like your missing the speed signal.
  15. Oh dear... not this again. Yes the mount has been damaged and replace them in pairs. Search the site and you'll find post on this subject.
  16. I agree, the battery can caused many odd problems. It's not recommended to use the Audi/VW scan equipment on Cayennes as it can cause false codes or CAN problems.
  17. Result then, thanks for getting back to us.
  18. Have you inspected the gound point and power supplies located under the left front seat near the battery? There are several fuses and a reset breaker located there.
  19. Is this a serious post?
  20. Could it be the shifter interlock that you're hearing?
  21. The stub axle has been pulled out of the transaxle. It could be caused from the wheel carrier being separated from the control arm but it's hard to tell from your pic. Bring up your concerns with the insurance company and repair garage, I'm sure they will sort it out.
  22. I have used carb spary and compressed air in the past so I think you should be ok.
  23. Just a general warning, don't remove a battery cable and tap it against the battery post to watch for sparks. Batteries produce hydrogen gas and a sprark could ignite it. Test the system correctly and safely or not at all.
  24. I have never heard of a fault like this occuring before. I can only suggest flushing the entire brake system, clearing all fault codes and road testing the vehicle.
