  1. The impeller on the water pump is made out of black plastic. When the brng starts to fail the impeller will rub against the engine block which could be the cause of your black flecks. I would remove the belt and inspect the pump.
  2. Test the ignition system for faults. You could have cylinder bank not firing. Anyone tested the basic things such as fuel pressure?
  3. You need to test the fuel pressure and volume. Your fault could have many causes and it's just guessing without test a few systems to narrow down the area at fault. Any maintenance done to the vehicle? Does the cranking RPM seem ok?
  4. I suggest you inspect the IMS brng for wear. I had one that sounded very similar and the brng was coming apart.
  5. You have a different issue and need to have the fluid level checked and fault codes read out.
  6. Is the cooling fan in the rear of the unit operating correctly? The dealers seem quick to just replace things without investigating the problem or other options.
  7. Have you spoken to Porsche about any type of goodwill considering the low milage?
  8. Does the park brake light show in the cluster? The switches get flakey.
  9. DME relay or speed sensor failing. You can't get away with just throwing parts at these vehicles as they are expensive(parts) and you'll quickly exceed the value of the car. Recommended to find a garage familiar with the 944 and let them diagnose it.
  10. 50 hours of operation or less. Here's the way I look at it, If auto manufacturers spend millions upon millions in R&D to get more output and better fuel milage from their products and all they had to do was install a K&N type filter don't you think they would??
  11. I think the next step would be to get it connected to Porsche scan tool for some pin-point testing.
  12. Don't they have a phone number you could ring??
  13. I think as the newer bulb ages it will get blueish in colour. It can't be a fuse as the light operates.
  14. Refer to a A/C specialist. They will evacuate the system and pressurize it with nitrogen gas which is the best way to find leaks. There are multiple hoses and fitting which could be at fault.
  15. Have you cleared the old fault codes and rechecked for any that might have returned? How does the ignition switch feel.... they can cause odd faults.
  16. You need to remove the lower engine cover for a proper look, could be P/S fluid as it's olive green in colour.
  17. Failing ignition switch would be my first guess.
  18. They are rubbish and not recommended by any manufacturer that I'm aware of.... the only thing good about K&N is their marketing department.
  19. The o-ring can weld itself to the oil pan so a little effort can shift it. Be sure to carefully clean the sealing surfaces to prevent leaks.
  20. Was this a new unit or rebuilt pump? Any idea who manufactured it? Was the impeller plastic or metal?
  21. Chances are the rubber mounted clutch disk has failed. Rubber bits tear out under load conditions and get caught up in the pressure plate and such. You need to replace the clutch assembly and also inspect the clutch master cylinder where it mounts to the firewall for any cracks.
  22. I have only seen a dark purple colour fluid leak from the mounts. Can you see where the fluid is originating from??
  23. You need to have the transmission codes read out but it sounds like the transmission range selector switch has a fault.
  24. 11.38 open circuit volts is a failed battery or a battery that is very, very low on charge. Replace the unit as it's already three years old and remove it as a fault out of the equation.
  25. Glad you got it sorted and sorry I couldn't be of help but the customer didn't show so I had no info to pass along.
