  1. Does your vehicle have two batteries? The main battery is located under the left front seat and a second battery dedicated for engine cranking is located in the rear spare tire area. Not all had the second battery fitted.
  2. Open left door and look above the latch pin on the body, there should be a "T" handle to open the engine compartment cover.
  3. Catch them in the act and spray them down with a water hose. Worked for me and although I did see that cat around after it was never on my car again.
  4. Are you sure you're in the correct spot? My friend was having the same problem once and he inserted the removal tool into the wrong access hole. Can you see the end of the release hex to see if it's damaged?
  5. Start by cleaning the idle speed motor and throttle body. A vehicle of that age is also prone to broken air intake hoses which can cause fuel trim mixture faults. Recommend having the intake system smoke testing for vacuum leaks.
  6. What year is your vehicle? There was a problem with the positive battery cable from the alternator to the battery on early models. There are several modules that can stay on causing a battery drain and many TBS's addressing these issues. Drains are difficult to locate on vehicles using a CAN-BUS system as you can't do the old trick of pulling fuses to locate the faults.
  7. Bypass the clutch switch and be sure the battery is in condition. I don't see why an airbag code would cause a no start condition.
  8. Park lights are front and rear side marker lights. They call them all sorts of things over here.
  9. So does this mods activate just the head lights or do all the parks light operate automatically also?
  10. I don't have a pic but it's located in the centre front of the engine and driven by the serpentine belt. It's the highest pulley on the engine.
  11. On the 986 it is located in the front air dam grille.
  12. Welcome to the forum. If you have an ohm meter check the compressor clutch field winding to see if it's open circuit.
  13. Change the cabin filter and be sure all the drains are clear. Check in the front cowling/firewall area for any standing water.
  14. I think they are a reliable vehicle. You've already replaced some of the major item and the only other thing I can think of is the coolant pipes. I would put the miles on and enjoy.
  15. Brake pads shifting? It's difficult to pin point these noises over the net but I would inspect the brakes.
  16. I would also suspect the MAF sensor but you need to monitor it's operation to see if it's at fault.
  17. The first time I replaced one( an Audi) the unit cost $5000.00 CND which included the complete ABS module,pump motor and valve block. Since then they have a rebuilt unit that sells for $600.00 CDN which is just the control module. As Loren stated, exhaust all other diagnostic avenues before replacing the unit. This is a complicated procedure and one of times I recommend getting an opinion from the dealer as they have the correct test equipment/experience and possibly find another source of the fault. As for replacement, just replace the control module which is only held on with a few torx screws and don't open the brake system hydraulics. Perhaps you can source a unit through an autowrecker.
  18. Every time I had this fault return on VW/Audi it's been the ABS module thats needed replacing. Porsche uses the same system so I'm sure the fix is the same.
  19. Inspect the electrical connector at the transmission as it might have been damaged when the previous work was done.
  20. Yes the V6 have ignition coil problems and have been updated.
  21. That's the switch to disengage the anit-roll bars. Sorry I don't know the details but it should be in your manual in the section regarding the transfer case or using low range.
  22. If it's misfiring it can cause camshaft timing deviation codes. As the ignition coils are a common fault I would replace the coils and spark plugs. Clear all codes and retest.
