  1. You can also remove the unit and check to see if all connections are secure.
  2. Is the climate control still functioning correctly? There are several temperature and blend door motors that could be the cause of the noise.
  3. Have the fuel pumps checked for pressure and volume output. What's the milage on the unit?
  4. If it's not sprung the ribbon cable from the unit I would try to refit the plastic top. Maybe post a pic so we can have a better understanding of whats happened.
  5. I'm not sure on your engine but on older vehicles the injectors operated on system voltage which was 12-14 volts. I don't think your testing the circuit correctly. How are you testing for injector pulse? The cheap and easy way is to use a noid light which you can purchase for a few dollars. It connects to the injector harness and just crank the engine and watch for the light to flash with each pulse.
  6. I've not seen this issue before but have had odd electrical problems due to charging system faults or a weak battery. Always best to start with the basics and then inspect the wiring harness for damage or water ingress.
  7. Drive the vehicle at highway speeds but at a high RPM for approx 20km's to burn the cats and O2 sensors clean then retest the system.
  8. I would doubt it would be wise to use the spare for more then a few miles. You need to measure the rolling distance and if they differ more then 5% I wouldn't risk it or you could end up doing severe damage to the differential units.
  9. I think 1984 had a clutch cable so I would check that the cable is adjusted correctly. You also need to check the pedal height and release brng lever stop adjustment. They can cause the clutch disc to drag when things heat up and not fully disengage.
  10. Try clearing all codes and all control modules. Will it accept the correct coding for the cluster?
  11. We have about the same weather temps but where I live we also get loads of snow and I know of some people who drive 996 C4's as daily drivers all year round. Don't even consider a 993 as the engine heater will never be of any use. They are driving on Brigdestone Blizzacks.
  12. Yes there is a control unit for the lights. Sorry I can't recommend or answer your question about aftermarket lighting.
  13. These timing chains are very reliable. Your mechanic should be able to test the cam/crank sensors without just guessing and replacing them. What engine oil have you been using in the past? The valve cover can also be removed and the timing chains inspected for play or being out of time. Be sure they also inspect the chain tensioners and it would be a wise idea to test the fuel pumps (both left and right pumps) for pressure and volume.
  14. Sorry, I didn't read what I wrote correctly and you are correct. Yes it will stop the unit from freezing if all is working correctly.

  16. If you can see no obvious signs of wear or something loose check the hydraulic fluid level. Search the site on how to check the level as it has been covered in the past.
  17. Could you tell us more about the service history of the vehicle. Any aftermarket equipment and what work has been done in the past? What is the current milage and how long have these problems been occurring? Please post any fault codes. It could be a vacuum leak at the root of your problem.
  18. If the evaporator freezes up and the control switch is working/installed correctly it will interrupt current to the compressor clutch.
  19. Also inspect the front drains in the cowl area to be sure they are open.
  20. And how do you know the new part has failed??
  21. The A/C compressor will turn off if the freon pressure is below a set point with an electrical switch located in the low pressure side of the system or through a mechanical switch that monitors if the evaporator freezes up. There is also a fuse for the clutch electrical circuit to prevent overloading and a mechanical pressure blow off valve on the high side circuit.
  22. Very hard to say but does the sound change pitch or volume if you turn the wheel slightly back and forth at road speed causing the vehicle to rock side to side? It could be the early signs of a failing wheel brng.
  23. I'm not familiar with the part you're referring to, could you post a pic as I can't remember there being a sensor located there for the heater.
  24. Is it the fuse for the blower fan? Inspect the blower motor for play in the rotor shaft. They can wear the bushings and under higher cornering load cause the load to increase in the motor and blow the fuse.
  25. The drive assembly for the clam shell has been updated because the old one would break teeth off the internal drive and cause the clam shell to go out of time.
