  1. Why disconnect the battery? Your scan tool should be able to clear the fault code and the ECU will then be reset.
  2. If it was a misifre from a faulty ignition coil it should the set the check engine light on straight away and if severe enough it would cause the light to flash on and off meaning damage is being done to the catalytic convertors.Do not operate the vehicle if the check engine light is flashing. I'm not aware of there being a coil fault for your model year.
  3. Could it be the A/C cycling on and off? Try turning it off when the problem is occuring. I take it there is no check engine light on.
  4. SorryI won't be much help with the PDC as the only problems I have seen were due to the sensors being dirty. A quick clean and they were good again. RFM has much much more experience with the Cayenne then myself so maybe drop him a note.
  5. CIS is very sensitive to vacuum leak so start by having the intake system smoke tested, repair any leaks, clean the air flow meter, throttle body and cold air by-pass valve then retest the system. A word of warning, a lean backfire can destroy the air box if you don't have a pop off valve installed.
  6. It looks like spillage and not cleaned properly. It is very easy to overfill the oil tank on the 993 when adding oil. I would have the area cleaned with brake clean and then loads of hot water, monitor and see if any leakage returns. I highly recommend a PPI as it is money well spent.
  7. It's located in the oil tank.
  8. Oil level gauge is very dynamic so it's always recommended to check the oil level via the dipstick when the oil is up to temp, vehicle level and engine at idle. The level should be between the min and max levels. Never fill the level to max.
  9. Could be many faults causing this issue. The cold start injector is only operational for a very short time so I would first start with verifing the fuel pressure and then test the intake system for vacuum leaks. If you're not familiar with CIS system I highly recommend finding a garage that has experience with your vehicle as it will save you endless hours of agro.
  10. It should work fine. Be sure to have your laptop connected to a power supply and sometime Durametric stalls so just restart it and re-select the module you want to interrogate.
  11. You need access to the factory scan tool or Durametric. Turn on the option for DTRL in the front light control module.
  12. Are you sure you connected the ground cable from the transaxle to the chassis?
  13. Good result then. I didn't even know the adaption values were resetable on that transmission. Glad it worked out and drive the clappers off it so it doesn't learn anymore bad habits.
  14. Be sure you're running the lastest version of Durametric, you should be able to communicate with those control modules.
  15. It's safe to operate the vehicle unless the check engine light is flashing.
  16. How did you reset the adaption values? I have never heard of a reset fixing a grinding noise.
  17. Recommend having the intake system smoke tested for a vacuum leak.
  18. The temp sensor has been updated to a newer part number which can cause the starting issue and the coolant fan issue. Be sure to replace the o-ring seal and the plastic retaining clip that holds the sensor into the coolant flange. You don't have to remove gearbox but the sensor isn't nice to reach unless you have the same size hands as a 7 seven year old french girl. It's located in a coolant flange at the rear of the engine on the left side. You will loose approx 1L of coolant so have some replacement on hand.
  19. You can fault code stored without them triggering a check engine light. Each code has it's own parameters for setting and or triggering the light.
  20. Maybe check with your OPC to see if they have been covered under a recall.
  21. Double check the connections on the mass air flow sensors or a unmetered air leak.
  22. Does the system remain level and at the selected ride height over night? You should be able to read the height of each air spring on the scan tool to see if they are within limits.
  23. I have seen a few cases where the wiring for the seats(heater, airbag, power seat motors) has become caught in the sliding mechanism.
