  1. Even though you have put on 1000 miles you might not have gotten the exhaust system up to temp to burn off the residual oil. I've had to take these vehicles on a 50+ km drive at high RPM's on the highway to clear them up.
  2. Has the engine ever been overheated? How much oil are you consuming over 1000 miles?
  3. Yes sorry. Brngs=Bearings
  4. On the old version it would remember what post number I left the topic on so when I returned to the topic it would automatically scroll to the newest post since my last visit. Is this feature possible on the new version or is it a setting?
  5. It's the brng that is failing and damaged the clutch assembly.
  6. If it doesn't worsen then I consider this normal for the type of vehicle.
  7. Swap the ignition coil to another cylinder and see if the fault follows the coil.
  8. They are several manufactures that use the indicator light operate the cruise control, it is one of the first things that should be verified. Glad you got it sorted.
  9. The odd time the socket number is also written on the option list sticker located under the front trunk lid and don't use any type of impact wrench on these sockets.
  10. On the harness connector the weather seal might not be sitting correctly so have a close look at it. It's the whitish coloured band deep in the connector housing.
  11. If you have a DVD drive then it's 2.1. When you select maps what exactly is happening? How many satellites does it show when you check for signal strength?
  12. Of course ask your mechanic although he might be biased as he is a Lubrico dealer. The more data you have to make your decision the better. Here's the way I look at it and this is just a personal thing, I would rather save the money the warranty would cost and put it toward repairs.... if any.
  13. There is a basic setting you can do. With the engine running and the steering wheel point straight ahead, turn the wheel past the 45 degrees in each direction then drive straight forward for several meters. This often resets the unit but if it needs to be zeroed and re-calibrated then you the tools Loren mentioned.
  14. What is the milage on the vehicle? As for the warranty, that all depends on you. I have dealt with that warranty company in the past on two separate vehicle and they always found some excuse as to not pay.
  15. If you measured 14V at the battery with the engine off that might indicate a problem, a failing battery can have too high of open circuit voltage. You need to test the battery under load and then verify the charging system operation. If you do have a two battery system, you must isolate the batteries and test them independently of each other.
  16. Welcome to the forum. The search function will often answer your questions.
  17. I agree with Sand8, try and reinstall the head light assemblies first and be sure all connections are sound.
  18. Looks good Loren... keep up the great work!!
  19. I was told by a VW parts person that the letter denotes a part change up. For example, part 955 123 456 A would be replaced by 955 123 456 B. I believe this has some grain of truth as I have seen parts with a high failure rate with part numbers up to "F" when the original part number ended in "00". What is the original problem that you are having that pointed you to the ABS system as the fault?
  20. If you are adding the Factory CD changer unit then no coding is needed, its just plug in play.
  21. Any other odd electrical faults or things going on? Starters do fail but it's not a common problem and when they start to fail they keep getting worse until they no longer operate.... not give problems and then work fine for weeks and start to act up again. Even though the battery is new I would retest it. Could you be more descriptive as to what the vehicle is doing.
  22. I completely agree with the above statement. Using AP products isn't even an option on my list, those hoses will turn into big fat red balloons under that much boost.
  23. Well they do get hot and radiate massive amounts of heat when you shut the engine off..... hard to say if it's too much on your vehicle over the net. Sorry I can't recall what heat shields are there but I'm sure somebody more helpful will be along shortly.
  24. What is the original problem with the PCM or is it working correctly? Are the connections at the rear of the unit secure?
