  1. This is also what we do for our customers who store vehicles over the winter months with the added fuel stabilizer/battery maintainers and fresh oil/filter change before storing, the vehicles are never started to "keep the seals oiled" and prevent oil contamination and unnecessary moisture build up in the exhaust. The old theory of seals drying out relate to the older type rope/leather seals used ages ago that could dry and cause leaks when the vehicle was returned to service. I've never had to pull a newer type radial seal off the parts shelf to oil it to stop it from drying out.
  2. Very difficult to diagnose noises via the net but a gearbox/engine rattle is not considered normal. Inspect all mounts and the torque convertor drive flex plate which can crack but honestly I have never seen it happen on a Porsche.
  3. If the relay was faulty it must be fused which would cause the fans to operate constantly not just with ignition key operation.... unless something is different on the 968 as I'm more familiar with the 944.
  4. Engine mounts will not affect idle speed. Have you cleaned the throttle bodies?
  5. I've never known the mounts to fail in a Cayenne yet, I think you're the first. What problems are being displayed that makes you suspect the mounts?
  6. Not recommended to operate the vehicle if the engine is misfiring and the check engine light is flashing, you risk damage to the catalytic convertors. I would replace all the ignition coils and carefully inspect the coil electrical connectors for corrosion as yo mentioned driving through excessive amounts of water.
  7. Not 100% sure on the 968 but on the 944 on the left upper part of the radiator( just under the upper rad hose) was the rad fan cooling thermo switch. The contacts could sometimes fuse together, just unplug the switch and if the fans stop then you need to replace the unit.
  8. I recommend following manufacturers recommendations.
  9. Owners manual has loads of useful information, highly recommended reading..... several times over.
  10. I think the only option is to purchase the needed disc via the dealer network.
  11. I agree with RFM, completely flush the clutch hydraulics and see if that restores operation. If not perhaps the clutch disc has separated.
  12. There is a micro switch integral to the door latch assembly that tells the window control module if the door is open or closed, it sounds to me like that switch has failed and you'll need to replace the latch.
  13. The dealer can confirm your current software number and recommend if it needs upgrading. Chances are that it's a failing valve body which is a straight foreword replacement and not complicated. Recommended to exchange the transmission fluid/filter at the same time. Well you're under the vehicle inspect the condition of the driveshaft centre brng carrier.
  14. BlackGold is an import breakers yard in Edmonton, might be cost effective to purchase complete units from a NA vehicle which should easily transfer to your headlamp assemblies.
  15. A 9V battery doesn't have the current needed to operate the system. There is a procedure for powering up the circuit in question via the fuse block using a automotive 12V battery. Search the forum for details and please state your model year.
  16. Electric motor has a intermittent spot or failing regulator? I would remove the door card for inspection.
  17. I wouldn't leave the bridge installed. Is the relay common and possible for you to switch it with another relay? I'm not familiar with that relay but you might want to remove it's housing and check for faulty solder connection on the relay if it uses a circuit.
  18. I would recommend replacing the EVAP flow control solenoid with the updated unit, clearing all codes and monitoring. There is a DYI on the forum for replacement. It's rather straight foreword to complete. The valve often starts with an intermittent failure and would account for all of your symptoms.
  19. Even if the vehicle is inspected by qualified persons there is often hidden damage once they get deeper into it.
  20. The EVAP solenoid is a known fault which will cause a vacuum leak with rough running and intermittent hard starting. Verify there are no vacuum leaks, replace the control solenoid and clear all codes.
  21. OIl separator must be replaced as a complete assembly. How did you conclude it's causing a vacuum leak?
  22. Please update us on your results.. I've had the same complaint on my '06.. my tootsies get cold in cold weather. There is air coming out the vents (which are awfully small) - but not a lot of it.. One thing I noticed - I can increase the volume of air by manually selecting the footwell, then closing all the face-level vents (the outer ones still are delivering hot air, even when not selected.) My Cayenne is the same, no fault codes in the system and seems to have the same amount of air flow from the footwell vents as other Cayenne I compared it to. I just assumed it's normal... which is poor. Another note: the blower fan is much louder when footwell is selected.
