  1. There is an overheat protection built into the unit but usually you get a message saying that. Remove the unit and check the operation of the cooling fan.
  2. Is that the alarm module? It's not what I recall and thought it was a black plastic box with a ATO type fuse and multiple connectors.... or am I thinking of the Boxster?
  3. The valve body can cause the harshness and the double pulse when shifting but have the fluid level checked as these gearboxes and very sensitive to fluid level. Was the above work done to cure these issues? Does it only happen whilst traveling straight ahead? Are the tires of the same size/evenly worn front to rear?
  4. Rear drive shaft/carden shaft and front lower rear control arm bushings are common sources of noise.
  5. It sounds like a vacuum leak. As suggested have the system smoke tested with special attention paid to the EVAP system.
  6. Has anyone inspected the alarm module for water damage?
  7. Auto wrecker is your only choice I think. I just leave the strainer in place and a fluid extractor to remove as much of the old debris/fluid before hand.
  8. Is it perhaps an issue with the transmission ECU adapting to your driving style? I know on the automatics they use a fuzzy logic to fine tune the shift points to match your driving style.... a light foot leads to early up-shifts.
  9. I was told that you shouldn't use vagcom equipment on Porsche as it will cause CANBUS faults. Recommend a trip to the dealer.
  10. Are there any codes in the system? Does it shift ok in manual mode? I would first verify the transmission fluid level and do a engine throttle body reset.
  11. It might be incorporated into the wheel brng. If you installed it backwards then it will cause an ABS issue.
  12. This vehicle could be a massive money pit. The clutch is a dual disc type which is prone to problems and very expensive but can be updated to the single disc type. The brake/clutch hydraulics will definitely need work and the fuel system is the CIS type which doesn't often survive storage with old petrol. This is not to mention all the other issues caused from long term storage such as rotten cooling system, dried engine oil seals, timing belt, damaged wiring, etc...etc... As to value? It's very hard to say... I personally would consider this a parts car and recommend finding a good road worthy example.
  13. The tensioner can leak. They are sealed by an aluminum washer. Retorque the unit first and if that doesn't stop the leak then just replace the sealing washer only if you're familiar with the procedure which if done incorrectly will cause serve engine damage.
  14. I've only seen them mounted near the license plate area. On another note, how does one modify the PCM for a NTSC input?
  15. Is it possible that you are just hearing induction noise due to the engine intake is on the drivers side?
  16. I'm more worried about what they don't filter out and let into an engine. I never recommend anything but OEM paper type filters.
  17. It will only lead to inaccurate readings. There is a very specific way to diagnose battery drains on these vehicles that Porsche provides for a reason.
  18. Inspect the ambient temp sensor located in the left front air dam opening and be sure it's securely connected.
  19. Wait for the Durametric but I think you might have a damaged valve body but lets wait and see what codes are displayed.
  20. It's rubbish and a total scam.
  21. There are a few faults that can cause odd/intermittent cooling fan operation, best to report back with the fault codes or it will all be just guess work.
  22. Or cooling fans engaging at low engine temps??
  23. Do you mean low coolant warning light? Do not operate the vehicle if the check engine is flashing due to a misfire. Replace all the coils/spark plugs as they are a known fault.
  24. The DIY for cleaning the TB has been covered on the forum many times.
