  1. There must be a leak, the fluid doesn't evaporate. The pump might have been damaged due to the low fluid, once air enters the system it doesn't take much to damage the pump. Are you using the correct fluid? Is your steering speed sensitive? Are the tires inflated correctly or and suspension components in good condition as in not siezing? Serpentine belt not slipping? Just a few things to inspect.
  2. Winters are cold. Too much snow and almost always a cold wind. -40 C is never fun. Although last winter was mild and first time I didn't put on the snow tires.
  3. Did you drive the vehicle as I recommended? This is sometimes a temporary "fix" and you still might have a failing convertor or O2 sensor.
  4. I would revisit all the air charge pipes/hoses to be sure they are fully seated. Both on intake and boost sides.
  5. Beru is a OEM part supplier so it fine to use.
  6. Have you checked the fluid level?
  7. Why is "thicker" oil better? If Mobil 1 0W40 is a poor oil, how did your vehicle manage to reach the 200k mark? There are more opinions on oil then on religion. I have used LM oil for years also with good results and it's Porsche approved but wouldn't waste any money on the stabilizer products.
  8. It depends on why it's low, could be from a sticking pressure valve due to sludging. They sell a pressure tester that also has a port so you may install the factory oil pressure switch and monitor it's operation whilst on a road test. If your oil pressure is low you need to address the problem straight away or severe engine damage will result. I'll ask again, do you know the service history of the vehicle and what oil has been used?
  9. Test the pressure with a manual gauge. Has the correct motor oil been used as sludging can cause problems over time from the incorrect oil being used.
  10. nineapart is a autowrecker located in eastern Canada so give them a try.
  11. Sounds like an internal fault in the cluster.
  12. Also inspect the contact in the fuse block that engages the blade of the fuse. They can corrode or overheat and cause intermittent issues.
  13. What's done is done, hindsight is always 20/20. Carry on with your plans stated above and fingers crossed nothing has been damaged and the heart life of your vehicle hasn't been shortened. Best of luck and let us know how it turns out.
  14. I stick with factory pads and have never had an issue with brake dust but it might have something to do with driving style. I want a pad that bites in straight away for stopping power as opposed a dead brake pedal unit the pads heat that is often found with aftermarket and ceramic pads.
  15. In the past I would only replace the affected cylinder coil and it always came back to haunt me as the others failed shortly down the road. I now always replace them in a complete set with the newest part number.
  16. From being diagnosed as a noisy pulley to seizing pistons?!? No low oil pressure warnings? Get it towed to another garage and get a second opinion.
  17. Remove the belt and inspect the tensioner that it moves freely without binding and has correct spring tension throughout it's range. I assume all the components/idlers have been inspected.
  18. Contact the nearest OPC to have the vehicle inspected and I recommend a compression/cylinder leak down test. There are also well known issues with valve guide wear resulting in plugged secondary air injection ports in the cylinder head.
  19. Thats for the front cowl drains, there is also a drain for the climate control box located at the bottom of the cabin filter housing.
  20. With key on,engine off does the oil pressure gauge read zero? If yes and it raises when the engine starts all should be well. Slightly overfilled oil level will not cause excessive oil pressure. What is the oil pressure at idle with a hot engine?
  21. Not something to muck about with, if it isn't broke don't fix it. The compressors can make noise dependant on load so it might be normal. Best leave it be. If you are really concerned have the dealer revisit the issue, there must be some type of warranty on the work.
  22. I'm not sure on the boxster but the coil packs might be fused so I would also verify none have failed.
  23. I've no idea the value of these cars but 9K for a 912 that doesn't run, is in unknown condition mechanical and been in storage sounds crazy.
  24. The hoses that are difficult to remove are in the engine bay. Don't waste your time in trying to expoy or plastic weld the tank, just replace it.
