  1. Is the a check engine light or drivability problem? I no longer trust durametric for reading fault codes on the Cayenne as I've seen too many bogus faults generated when a problem doesn't exist.
  2. Let the OPC install the unit, if anything goes south the liability is on them but I would inquire why they want to remove the catalytic convertor. Is there a indy near you that has experience with the Cayenne and the factory scan tool?
  3. A used unit will not work and you only need to have the existing keys on hand as they sometimes need to be reintroduced to the vehicle when the new column is programmed. To calibrate the steering angle sensor you only need drive the vehicle in a straight line a few meters. The catalyst doesn't need to be removed to replace the column as you don't even need to touch the exhaust system at all.
  4. Pelican parts used to sell the pcv valve internal separately.
  5. You need to visit a dealer and have the steering column replaced and programmed with all of the keys you have.
  6. Though they might limit movement slightly they won't stop the rubber from delaminating from the metal of the mount so it's not benefit in my opinion. Mount is easy to change and not that expensive so recommend saving your money and just install the updated 987 part number when the original unit fails.

  8. The temp sensor can be intermittent, just replace the unit and monitor closely for any other issues.
  9. Welcome. I doubt it's a valve body issue as that fault usually affected the early models. It could be a mount or even something left loose or misplaced in the engine bay, I can only suggest you return to the dealer and have them inspect.

Sorry I can't help with replacing the pump as I've never had to do one yet but just wanted to give a word of warning about the fluid, be very careful as it can damage plastic,rubber and some painted surfaces so if you spill any be sure to throughly clean the area. What are the symptoms your P/S pump is displaying that it needs replacing?
  11. Is there an accumulator on this model or is that only on the Turbo models?
  12. How did you test for a vacuum leak? It sounds to me like you have a leak in the EVAP control system.
  13. Open circuit voltage of 12.06 volts is considered a discharged battery, it might not have enough potential with the key in engine crank mode to operate all the necessary components on the Cayenne.
  14. Sorry the V6 using the oring and clip and the V8 threads into a coolant passage. Thermostats are rather reliable so I would just replace the temp sensor and retest. You'll need to clear the fault codes after sensor replacement.
  15. Are you operating the washers correctly? I know it might be a dumb questions but I've had many people who don't realise how they operate.
  16. Get your "mechanic" to remove the nut and examine if the nut is damaged or the terminal threads or both.
  17. Just another note: verify the water pump is actually circulating coolant. With the engine cold, remove the pressure cap, start the engine and observe coolant circulating in the expansion tank at the upper bleed hose.
  18. The cooling fans operating, fault code and the garage not indicating point to a failed coolant temperature sensor, the part has been updated and be sure to replace the sealing O-ring and the retaining clip when doing to sensor.
  19. How did you check for fault codes? Do you have good spark from both distributor caps? What is the fuel pressure/volume? Could be many many things at fault so we need to verify a few basics first. If you don't have tools and aren't near the car I suggest towing to a dealer or good independent garage.
  20. The only other items I can think of that might cause issues are the climate control blower motor, water pump, fuel pumps and lower ball joints or control arm bushings and ignition coils. I've 205,000 km on my Cayenne and it also sees off road use.
  21. I think you need to disassembly the connector and then just lift out each wire, the back of the connector should unclip which holds each wire into it's correct spot but be careful as when you remove the back retainer nothing will hold the wires in so they might all become adrift.
  22. It's best to read the engine temp via a scan tool as sometimes the gauge can be off. If the fans are operating at all speeds and the engine isn't over heating then just keep an eye on things as it might be normal for your vehicle.
  23. I haven't heard of this fault before, can only suggest you return to a OPC and have them scan the unit for faults.
