  1. Check for cracks on the ignition coil bodies. Do not drive the vehicle if the check engine light is flashing as serious damage could be done to the emission systems.
  2. Water pumps and coolant exspansion tanks are common failures. Never had a hose fall off, let us know what the dealer reports.
  3. I second the water pump, easy to change out yourself if your even a little handy as a DIY
  4. Check the charging voltage of the alternator.
  5. I've just found this product. It's an stick on type of oil pan heater and found it today on a '04 Touareg V8 so I would assume it would work for the Cayenne also. ProHeat model 512 250 watts at 120v 1-800-221-4328 Hope this helps.
  6. I think you have a poor/false ground. Any moisture in the light assemblies? Might be best to take it in the the dealer or a good indie.
  7. It's not normal for it to make a grinding noise, sounds like it's starting to fail.
  8. I've not dealt with those codes before, I would start by checking all the fuses. Do you have any aftermarket radio or such installed? Is it out of warranty? Any work recently done to the vehicle?
  9. It can also mean to read the manual. If you don't have one, get one, they are full of good info.
  10. There is nothing from the factory that I have found. Stop in at your local VW dealer and look at the in-line heaters for the newest models. There are small in size and fit into the coolant hose for the oil cooler.
  11. I also think your battery is at fault but you might have two problems. The ignition switch is easy to replace and I would change it out as a matter of course as the failure rate is very high on both units.
  12. I believe it was originally used to hold the owners manual which are always missing anyway.
  13. Is it actually coolant your finding or just water?? Maybe the front cowling drains are plugged.
  14. I think you will want to live with the noise for awhile as the starter hides under the intake manifold on the V8 engines. It's a few hours of labour to remove it.
  15. There was a TBS to address a noise caused by the oil pump relief valve on the early built 987's. Ask a dealer to run your VIN and see if your vehicle has had the update.
  16. You'll get a check engine light due to a EVAP code sooner or later.
  17. Where I live they won't let you pump fuel unless your engine is shut off.
  18. Check for a cracked coolant exspansion tank, it's very common and any 5mm socket will work for the headlight assembly.
  19. Sorry but are you saying that you refuel while the engine is running??
  20. I would return to the dealer and have them investigate the source of the oil, be it old or something new. Does your vehicle still have a warranty?
  21. It could have been many things to cause what you've described. You need to get the codes read and report then here. A loose gas cap wouldn't have put it into limp home mode.
  22. I think there was a TSB issued on a pump for the climate control... something about adding and insulator between it and the mounting assembly. I'll look up the reference number.
  23. If the upstream O2 sensor fails how does it "mimic" the voltage cycle of the downstream O2??
  24. The starter noise is intermittent and caused from a dry bendix bushing.
  25. It sure sounds like the starter, a common problem.
