  1. Could it be possible that a valve head broke off causing the loading on the chain to be increased and breaking the tensioner arm? I know everybody to quick to blame Porsche and all the cheap parts they use but as nobody has seen this part fail before I'm wondering if it a design flaw or perhaps just a bad part.
  2. Test both batteries if you have them and replace as needed. The OEM batteries are rubbish and it sounds like yours are on the way out.
  3. The glue like stuff is the dual wall shrink tube.
  4. I'm not very familiar with the system but I do not that they are sensitive to dirt on the sensors, maybe give them a good clean to see if that sorts it out.
  5. I use the dual wall type shrink tube, solder the connection and use my butane soldering irons vent to shrink.
  6. I think it has to be turned on using the Porsche service tool
  7. I have never seen this cause a no start/crank problem, the noise is just from a dry bushing in the bendix drive.
  8. Cold weather here is often in the low -20's to -30 C, I start her up, scrape off the windows and drive off under slight throttle applications. In weather this cold you could let it idle for 30 minutes and it would never reach 190F.
  9. It could be a wiring problem to the MAF sensor, you'll need to do a pinpoint test between the ECU and MAF.
  10. It sound like the air/oil separator has failed, do a search and you'll find loads of information.
  11. Well there ya go... learn something new everyday. Is it the just the ignition coils on that fuse circuit or are there any other loads that could cause that fuse to fail?
  12. Maybe change out the spark plugs. Do not drive or operate the vehicle if the MIL is flashing. There are no fuses for the ignition coils that I know of.
  13. The power cables for the seat have been known to cause a problem getting caught in the seat frame or drive assembly. Follow RFMs advice and you shuold be able to sort it in no time.
  14. The battery is the first thing to check, any other odd electrical going ons? Are you not still under warranty?
  15. I would doubt it is the steering rack. Try and PM one of our memeber named RFM, he has loads of insight on these models and should be able to point you in the right direction.
  16. How often was the brake fluid changed??
  17. Contact Driveline Service in Surrey BC. Maybe they can sort something out for you. I have used them on serveral BMW's and Audi's with very good result and savings over the factory replacement shafts. 1-800-607-8338
  18. As others have stated it's the ignition coils... the part has been updated and should be covered under the warranty period. Best to get them all replaced and not just the suspect one that's showing the misfire code.
  19. However if anyone knows of any aftermarket mods that can accomplish this then I would really like to know. Maybe start with some proper tires and the correct tire pressures. I think you'll notice a huge difference in what the Cayenne can do.
  20. Didn't mean to come across as sour. I'm not into mods and never recommend them thats all. I think a lot of junk science goes into most of these mods and most of it is just marketing scams. Just my opinion.... you throw the dice and take your chances.
  21. Not all vehicles are wired for the relay. If not you can just install a universal daytime running light kit sold at your local auto store.
  22. If you're not confident in the garage then get a second or third opinion. Just because I have never seen a Cayenne alternator fail doesn't mean it couldn't happen. As for the mods in question I never recommend such things and therefor won't comment. Hope you get it sorted soon and back to enjoying your vehicle.
  23. I have never seen a cayenne alternator fail yet but it's going to happen. There was TSB for the power cable from the alt to the battery that would cause charging issue, I would check this first. From my understanding you need to drop the engine to replace the alt but if it has failed I would look into getting it rebuilt.
  24. There are some codes that will set without triggering a CEL.
  25. It's best to have a good indie garage or dealer look into this problem, they can smoke test the EVAP system and find the fault in minutes. It's often a damaged plastic line or fitting.
