  1. I'm sorry but is it louder with cold or hot engine? You switch around hot or cold in your post. What year is the vehicle? If it has oil feed chain tensioner they could be the fault. What weight of engine oil?

  3. How are you checking for vacuum leaks?? It best to use some type of smoke machine.
  4. Front engine seal,water pump/T-stat and all belts/rollers can be combined labour. I'm trying to remember the last one completed at our local garage and I think it was somewhere around the 8-9 hour area. Fuel filter is a average of .6 of an hour. I think the cooler seals are around 1.5-2.0 hours if you have the updated oil cooler pressure relief valve and the hood struts are a complementary item and we never charge labour to install. Transaxle fluid change on a manual is approx .5 of an hour. Electrical work is another matter... depends on the garage.
  5. Check all of the fuses with a test light/volt meter. They often corrode at their ends so it's best to test for voltage on both ends of the fuses. The CDI module controls the coil ground path.
  6. The plug could be damaged. Swap it with another cylinder and see if the fault follows the spark plug.
  7. I see your point. I consider it maintenance as it's something I check on every boxster I service and many other makes also. Please do post back with your results.
  8. I would get a second opinion. Cayenne alternators are very expensive. How many miles on the vehicle?
  9. I would guess they are refusing it as warranty because keeping the drains clear is a matter of maintenance.
  10. I have seen the rear battery fitted on the Bose equipped vehicles many times. I think in europe they had it differently.
  11. The dealer often has repair kits but try a local breakers yard.
  12. If you had disconnected the MAF then started the engine it would trigger that code.
  13. I think there is now a repair kit offered for these compressors. I'll try and find a part number.
  14. The air temp sensor is part of the mass air flow sensor. You need to look for damaged wiring in that circuit.
  15. Sounds like the ABS ecu has failed, this can also be an intermittent fault.
  16. If it is a factory unit they can removed easily from the engine cover. It's rather staight forward with a few retaing nuts holding the assembly together.
  17. Porsche uses MOST in your Cayenne so there is no aftermarket adaptor/connector so you can't use the factory wiring or components that I am aware of.
  18. I'm not sure about Porsche but VW sells repair cables for different connectors. You retain the plastic connector, just replace the wire.
  19. I have always used a high temp anti seize on exhaust bolts.
  20. Check the electrical connector for that injector. Unplug it and check for corrosion and make sure it is solidly connected.
  21. It could be a traction control fault.
  22. You can only view a very small percentage of the piston. The fact is you have a major failure if coolant is escaping into the areas you stated. Start saving your pennies for another power plant.
  23. They do have a high failure rate and it's best to replace them all and spark plugs at the same time with the updated parts.
  24. You may have a damaged cylinder liner. The engine has many faults with no compression and oil/coolant mix. Best to start shopping for a exchange,used or rebuilt unit. I believe the cylinder head can be removed with engine in place but it wouldn't be an easy job. Best of luck with everything.
