  1. Is there a notable fault when applying the brakes or are you just getting a warning?
  2. Why no choice for BMW's?? They are the worst around here, they can't even park straight without taking up two or more spaces and never seem to use their indicators. But on the other side of the coin, I'm sure I've upset a few drivers over the years with something I've done and made them curse Porsche drivers.
  3. If they want to get in they will. I see about one car a week with this problem and they only thing that seems to work are the electronic devices to keep the rodents away. Just last week I removed about a pound of dried dog food from a air filter housing on a 944. I took a pic and will post it when I can.
  4. Item 20 is correct. Carefully check all of the hard plastic lines associated with the valve as they can crack and split where the line meets a fitting. The plastic line is heat shrunk onto a barbed portion of a fitting and that's the most common place they fail.
  5. I would doubt it's the transfer case but the centre brng and it's support in the driveshaft does fail. Porsche refers to it as a carden shaft and the part has been updated.
  6. You need to have a proper look under the seat. Sometimes the wiring harness isn't secured correctly and gets damaged when the seat is adjusted. Open each connection and clean with a quality electrical contact cleaner- just follow the instructions on the can and be sure it's safe for plastics. Be sure the ignition key is removed before performing any work.
  7. Oil is cheap insurance in my opinion and storing it with fresh uncontaminated oil is key in having a long lived healthy engine. I know of several people that drive their P-cars in our winter with no ill effects to date but they are all 996 C4's as you wouldn't get around here very well with a low ride height and rear wheel drive.
  8. There have been a few reported cases of a fault with power cable to the starter. I believe it corrodes at a junction point. Search and you'll find the posts.
  9. If the fluid level is correct and no codes in the system then I would check the condition of all the engine/transmission mounts.
  10. You are refering to the fiber glass piece or the housing the alternator sits in?? They both can be removed with the engine in place with the alt housing being the easier of the two.
  11. I never recommend these types of procedures as I don't think they are of any benefit. I remember reading about such a hack on this forum so if you try a search it might answer your questions.
  12. The only place I know of is through the dealer network but I wasn't aware it isn't offered in the US.
  13. What does the volt gauge read in the cluster??
  14. Glyn might have it. I have read of others complaining of the odd noise and was a loose plug.
  15. Have the battery/charging system checked.
  16. May I ask why you are trying to reset the memory? Are you having a problem with the transaxle?
  17. It can be removed and painted any colour you choose. Stop in at your local autobody garage and they will sort ya out.
  18. Be sure that the battery vent line is connected.
  19. If it happens just as the engine flashes up it could be the starter drive.
  20. Clear the code and retest after a drive cycle. How old is the battery and just to eliminate them I would have the battery tested. Engine off/key off when refueling will stop P0441 in most cases.
  21. A/C pressure will change with ambient temp. I thought that when the A/C was engaged the fans where always on high speed.
  22. It depends on the type of failure. There is a control module located in each fan assembly and the DME sends info to the control for variable speeds. The coolant temp sensor can cause problems and has been updated to a new part number. What is happening to your fans??
  23. 2004 had a relay that needed to be installed if the vehicle had the correct wiring or the wiring socket for the relay jumped. There are several opition including installing a universal DTR module that you can purchase at any autoparts retailer. 2005 and up had the lights controlled via a control module and needed to be activated by the dealer.
  24. Best of luck and please keep us posted on the result.
