  1. While you have the belt off inspect all of the pulleys including the water pump for movement/roughness.
  2. I think the alternator is easy to remove but I would check the vacuum hose/piping to the valve and vacuum tank first as I have found that to be the cause more times then the solenoid valve.
  3. I have never heard of a after market air suspension for the Cayenne.
  4. Start with inspecting the condition of engine/transaxle mounts.
  5. I have installed many belts over the years and would never put a goodyear or dayco belt on anything. What makes you think they grip better??
  6. I don't think that wiring harness is for the RDK as I believe the antennas run in the front area of the wheel not the rear.
  7. Never use any type of belt dressing as it causes more problems then it fixes. I would recheck that you routed the belt correctly and that it is the correct belt for your engine.
  8. Could be several reasons for the warning to be on. We need to know what codes are in the system. You need to make time and have the codes pulled.
  9. So the noise is now gone?? Looking forward to the video and have a safe, trouble free trip.
  10. Hey Loren, I have an '03 996 C2. After driving, my voltage read 13.43 VDC at the battery terminals. Would it be the battery, voltage regulator, or alternator? The battery is a couple months shy of 2 years old. I am going to get my battery load tested today or this week. Is it possible to have a battery on a battery maintainer (Porsche) too much? Are you having problems with slow cranking speeds or starting issues? A few 10th/volt low is nothing to be worry about unless you have other issues. TIA Regards, Paul :renntech:
  11. You likely have a bad ground or bad alternator. Never remove the battery terminal when the key is on or engine running. To the original poster- perhaps you don't have a charging system fault if your idle speed can't be controlled. Check for vacuum leaks and clean the throttle body/idle speed motor.
  12. What do you mean "smokes up near the driver side plug"?? MAF sensor is common to all cylinders but you could try disconnecting it and seeing if that makes any improvement. I would also check the AOS and clean the throttle body/idle speed motor.
  13. Have the A/C system checked by a specialist.
  14. The oil pressure must be verified with a mechanical gauge. I assume your hot idle speed is correct and there are no signs of any oil contamination from coolant or fuel.
  15. Make sure the brake lights are working. The brake light switch can become intermittent.
  16. I thought it was very well done. Congrats on the new motor and welcome to the forum.
  17. I agree with Loren that it's coolant. First place to look would be the water pump and you need to get it sorted before heading to the track.
  18. Technical Service Bulletins are not recalls. They are released to address common known issues and provide the techs with a repair to solve problems areas. If the vehicle is off warranty you'll have to pay for the repair. As you have just purchased the vehicle, call the seller and ask if he is willing to help in the repair.
  19. The wheel speed sensors are of the permanent magnet type and produce a AC signal. One reason they are difficult to remove is that the iron core on the sensor can rust and swell causing it to seize in the housing.
  20. The sensor could be electrical sound(not open circuit) but reading a different wheel speed and not trigger a code. Has anyone checked the condition of the wheel brng?
  21. The best way to erase fault codes is to use a scan tool. There should be option to clear codes on the scan tool.
  22. I've never actually had to replace the valve, the fault has always been a break in one of the hard lines which I repaired with dual wall shrink tube.
  23. So does the engine crank over or no?
  24. It's never a wise idea to just start replacing parts. I would suggest taking it to someone with experience working on the Cayenne, it might not be a booster fault. Finding a good tech will save you and your wallet loads of agro.
  25. I doubt that it would make a difference. Has your driving style changed any in the past 5000 miles?? I take it that there were no signs of leakage before?
