  1. You start with the R/R then L/R,R/F and finish with L/F. be sure to not let the brake fluid tank run dry and don't get any fluid on plastic or painted surfaces.
  2. Are you referring to the interlock cable used on the tiptronic transmissions? It's used to stop ignition key removal unless the vehicle is in park.
  3. If you're having odor problems be sure to clear the front cowl drains and replace the cabin filter.
  4. That sounds like the variocam solenoid. It's easy to replace but if the wiring is open circuit is open it should have triggered a check engine light. Verify that the check engine light actually comes on with ignition key one, engine off. Search the forum as it's been covered before.
  5. Monitor the fuel trim but there is no actual value that states "Rich" or "Lean" like some domestic scan tools display.
  6. As RFM stated no leaks are considered normal and the coolant pipe has been updated. Can you give us more details into the problems you are having?
  7. What part of the country are you located in??
  8. Remove the orange coloured weather seal on the headlight connector wiring harness in the fender. Install your headlight and see if that clears up the faults. I've had it cause alignment problems resulting in intermittent connections.
  9. I would verify the condition of the grounds for the headlight assembly. Has the ignition switch been updated?
  10. That does not sound good. It's hard to say but it could be very serious so I would tow the vehicle to a dealer or good indy and have them give an opinion. Highly recommend you do not drive or operate the engine anymore.
  11. On a conventional O2 sensor the primary sensors are used for short term and long term fuel trim but some ECU's use the secondary O2 sensor to also contribute to the long term fuel trim. Their main use is to monitor efficiency of the convertors and they would only effect fuel consumption if the were biased at their upper or lower limits but then they would also trigger a fault code.
  12. It could very well be damaged and need replacing. Does their scope capture images that you could post here? Can you describe the type of knocking and did it occur suddenly or over time? How may miles on the vehicle?
  13. Remove the headlight assembly following the directions in the owners manual and check the electrical connection in the fender. It's retainer can become damaged and often just the act of removing and installing the light assembly will sort things out. If you have any more questions they will be answered by doing a quick search as this subject has been covered many times. Welcome to the forum.
  14. I would consider it a lot of agro as the vehicle is not prewired for power seats.
  15. No synchros in an automatic gear box.
  16. I have never heard of this before, I thought their job was to provide PPI's so it seems mental that they would refuse to do one. Ask the owner to privode the service history.
  17. What does the owners manual say? I have not mucked around with the PCM3 yet so thats the only thing I could suggest.
  18. I am not familiar with the clunk noise but would inspect all the engine/transmission mounts and also the driveshaft centre brng assembly. As for the brakes, they often make noise and a few hard stops usually clears that up.
  19. The brng should have the correct grease already in it. When you purchase the part inspect the groove in the collar to see if any lubricant is present. If not just use a light grease and little of it.
  20. Same kettle of fish. Some people think the German built one is the better of the two but there are no facts to back it up.
  21. I have never primed the new units as they fill very quickly when the engine flashes up.
  22. There are two drains located in each corner of the front cowling area. I have used a straightened coat hanger to open them up.
  23. One trick I use to test for a faulty ground is to substitute the ground using a pair of booster cables.
  24. If the MAF sensor code appeared twice I would also replace the unit, clear the remaining codes and recheck codes after at least two drive cycles.
