  1. Sounds like a differential noise. Check the fluid level in both units and there have been a few reports of the units failing.
  2. Check the fluid level. If it's low correct the level using Pentosin 11S or it's replacement 202. Be sure and not get any fluid on anything painted,rubber or plastic.
  3. Does it matter??
  4. Replace the ignition coils and spark plugs at the same time. Also be sure the rubber seal for the engine bay is in place near the fire wall area. Water can leak down onto the engine and get into the spark plug tubes which shortens the service life of the coils.
  5. You could also have a vacuum leak. Clean the MAF,clear all codes and monitor.
  6. The only thing I would add is to not use compressed air to dry the sensor after cleaning as it may damage the unit.
  7. Inspect all the suspension mounts,engine/transaxle mounts and for any loose bolts on the suspension or subframe assembly.
  8. EVAP control solenoid. Just replace the part. It runs along the drivers side of the engine starting at the throttle body and ending near the firewall area.
  9. There are several place for the engine to leak oil and it sounds like it's getting onto the exhaust system. Inspect the valve covers for leakage.
  10. Thermostat is easy to replace and can become damaged from an overheat condition. Did the water pump impeller break when it failed? Sometimes broken bits can can reduce coolant flow so be sure to remove as many of them as possible.
  11. I highly doubt it's vapour lock but you need to test the fuel pressure and pump volume both hot and cold engine.
  12. No check engine light? Could be a fault with the EVAP control solenoid but you need to have the code read out.
  13. There is a rebuild kit available for the compressor. I think it's a VW part number.
  14. Start with the basics like fuel pump pressure and volume. It could be many things including a faulty ground or plugged exhaust. If your garage is just throwing parts at it hoping to find the problem then it's time to find new garage.
  15. Any heavy rain fall in your area recently? It could be caused by a few issues one of them being a failing gear selector switch. If it doesn't clear on it's own then you'll need to have the fault codes read out.

  18. It's best to clear all codes in all modules and then address any that return.
  19. You need to determine if it's the secondary ignition system at fault or the DME injector ciruit. Do you know which cylinder is at fault?
  20. It is possible that the camshafts have jumped out of time. You need to verify the camshaft timing and if everything is ok contact LN Engineering as they have the most experts on this subject.
  21. I would replace the sender as it sounds like the wire wound pot is starting to fail.
  22. Chances are it's a failed mount. Recommended to replace them in pairs.
  23. What colour is the smoke? What does it smell like? Are you sure it's not dust being blown around?
  24. Search the site and all will become clear.
  25. AOS could be in the early stages of failing but also over time oil collects in intake manifold and under WOT enough air flow is present to cause the oil to be ingested into the combustion chamber which is normal.
