  1. Could be a failing relay or a engine speed sensor. With your code reader can you measure engine RPM while cranking?
  2. Does this sound only happen when you have your foot on the brake? It could be a creaking suspension mount or joint. It's very hard to say without hearing the noise in person but I wouldn't risk damage to anything and have it towed to a indy or the dealer.
  3. If you see nothing caught anywhere then I would open the top slightly and measure that the clamshell is opening the same amount side to side by measuring from the edge of the shell to a fixed point on the body. I've had the gear mechanism strip out a few teeth and throw out the timing of events. The gear drive for your top has been updated to a new part number.
  4. I'm afraid your only option is to visit the dealer. The climate control could be fine and the problem lies with another component on the CANBUS. For example I've seen ABS faults cause a break or lag in communications which affects the climate control operation.
  5. No "mechanic in a can" will repair a leaking rear main oil seal, it must be replaced. The IMS cover is also a common cause of leaks.
  6. To my knowledge the all wheel drive system is very reliable.
  7. I have never seen this problem so can't help with replacement. Is it just surface corrosion or do you think it's damaged the pipe? Maybe a quick clean with fine steel wool and some wax to stop any further damage.
  8. It all depends on condition and service history. These are overall good,dependable vehicles but can cost a small fortune to bring up to par if they haven't been maintained or require timing belts,water pump,oil cooler repair,engine oil leaks or clutch replacement. The vehicle would have to be in very good condition to fetch 5k where I live.
  9. A failing IMS brng can also throw codes for camshaft timing but often has loads of noise also.
  10. A gentle hand is needed when removing the light assembly from the ball socket as I've seen a few broken ones over the years.
  11. Is the vehicle running when you are doing these operations and it's best to have your laptop connected to it's A/C power source. I would email Durametric directly with these questions as they have always been very helpful to myself in the past.
  12. If you're worried about risking damage to the vehicle stay off the drag strip. Revving the engine and dropping the clutch is always hard on the drive train and not worth the risk in my opinion.
  13. I would verify the fuel pump residual pressure. The check valve could be weak causing excessive crank time until the fuel lines purge.
  14. Search the site as I'm sure this fault has been covered before. IIRC the cure was a battery cable junction block for the starter that needed cleaning and tightening.
  15. It will purge out the overflow tube onto the ground so I don't think it's anything to be concerned about.
  16. Fuel pressure test port is located on the left fuel rail near the intake runner. I believe the operating pressure is 35-40 PSI and residule pressure should hold 15 PSI after 20 minutes. Sorry this is all from memory and I can't recall the pump volume specs.
  17. The 928's used CIS from it's introduction until 1980 I think. You need to test the fuel pump pressure and volume.
  18. I think it's placebo effect if someone thinks NGK's improve how a vehicle operates but I do agree that +4's are a marketing scam.
  19. People often remove the gauges and incorrectly re-install the wiring. You need to locate a wiring diagram to verify the connector locations.
  20. Clean any oil/grease from the threads on the new bolts and the stub axle flange to be sure the locking compound has a fighting chance to do it's job. Don't use lock washers on the bolts and I would suggest Loctite 262 which is red in colour.
  21. I fully agree with phillpj.... stick with OEM.
  22. It's located between the filter housing and the throttle body.
  23. What year is your vehicle? The park brake warning and the brake circuit failure are one and the same. If the park brake warning light goes out with the engine running I can only guess someone had the gauges out and connected the wiring wrong or the bulb sockets.
  24. Been ages so I can't remember if your model year has CIS injection. If it does during cranking it could be trying to fire off the cold start injector. I suggest you first check fuel pump pressure. It would also be wise to add a few liters of fuel as you can't always trust the gauge.
