  1. You gotta stay away from drive thrus. You can clear the codes with Durametric and can have codes but no check engine light until the drive cycles are complete and if the problem is still there then it will trigger a light. Now when you tried to start the engine after refueling did the engine crank slowly or crank over fine just didn't flash up?
  2. Start with the basic and check the compression in each cylinder. Does it idle smooth??
  3. I have used TRW on VW/Audi with no problems but stay far away from anything that comes in a UROparts box. That stuff is the ultimate in rubbish parts.
  4. Contact your local OPC and they will have the details.
  5. Where abouts on the vehicle do you hear the clunk? If it's from the middle of the vehicle I would start by inspecting the driveshaft centre brng.
  6. Will the engine rev to redline under load? Check the basics like ignition timing and such but also the exhaust for restrictions.
  7. Why not measure the the injector to see if it's open circuit instead of replacing it or are you sure it's the problem?
  8. Do you know if they performed the IMS seal and bolt case update at the same time?
  9. I agree with Loren. If the engine was indeed using that much oil you would notice it on the dipstick and tail pipes. Be sure your tires are correctly aligned and inflated.
  10. There have also been faults with the electrical connector that hides in the fender. When you install the light assembly it can cause a misalignment and poor contact within the socket.
  11. It could be that old oil is just trapped in the intake manifold runners, it should cure itself with use. A small amount of oil can cause massive amounts of smoke so it might take awhile to burn away all the residue.
  12. Chances are the EVAP purge solenoid has failed,it's easy to replace. As for the A/C faults, I would first check the condition of the battery. At idle speeds with the A/C on there is more demand on the electrical system with the alternator at it's lowest output potential and the battery might not have the reserve it once had which in turn can cause odd electrical problems or false fault codes.
  13. Has the water pump been replaced? The OEM pump has a plastic impeller which can break and reduce it's pumping ability.
  14. Could you post all of the codes found in each module please.
  15. I've never worked on the compressor on these cars but on other units that I have done you need special tools to remove the brng and to install it.... the same for the electrical coil.
  16. Can you describe how the belts are failing? Are they wearing on one side or breaking straight across the width? Any odd wear patterns? If possible post a pic of the broken belt.
  17. Sounds like the clutch has failed.
  18. Have the residual fuel pressure checked.
  19. I have always removed the exchanger. Take your time removing the exhaust nuts and often heating them is required.
  20. I'll assume your oil level is correct. Has the amount of smoke reduced? If yes, keep an eye on things over the next week of driving.
  21. You have residual oil in the exhaust system and it could take miles to clear it out fully. The vehicle has to be driven to get the exhaust up to temp to burn off the oil. If the smoke cloud isn't to great and safe for other motorist, take the car on a motorway but drive in a lower gear to keep the RPM up to help with the process.
  22. There is a TSB on your clutch master cylinder. The part has been updated and is rather easy to change out. Be sure to flush the complete hydraulic system with new fluid.
  23. That product should work fine.
  24. I have cleaned loads of these sensors over the years and found it to be a waste of time. If the sensor has a problem from contamination, cleaning it is only a temporary fix at best and you often find the sensor still reads volume on the low side. These sensors fail often or display incorrect readings on all german vehicles that use this type and need replacing with the newest updated part. Having said all that, I'm not sure you have a MAF sensor issue. I would verify that there are no codes then inspect for a vacuum leak and check fuel pump pressure and volume.
