  1. You need to get the known issues sorted before it can be properly diagnosed.
  2. No adaptions needed. The transmission will relearn as you drive if there are no fault codes stored in the system.
  3. Also give a look at the petrol cap seals.
  4. I've never believed in this stuff. My thinking is that if your engine is running well you don't need any of these products.
  5. There have been a few reports of torque convertor pump seals failing.
  6. Can you describe the noise? The transmission a fairly reliable but there were some issues with the early valve bodies in the transmission but more for a shifting complaint then noise. The transfer case stepper motor would cause a noise/vibration.
  7. Do not drive the vehicle if the check engine light is flashing. You really need to find the cause of your faults.
  8. Inspect the hoses for the EVAP system. It collects fumes and has many connections at the fuel tank and also a few at the engine.
  9. I've recently ran across this on a Touareg and it was caused by the drive shaft centre brng carrier. I sprayed some synthetic grease on it for diagnostic purposes and it went away.
  10. Be sure the drive belt hasn't broken for the secondary distributor and also the black plastic shield on the dist caps can trap moisture over time and cause a misfire. I would remove the plastic and inspect for carbon tracking.
  11. I always use a tool that connects to the battery and absorbs any surges from the welder to protect the vehicle electronics.
  12. Durametric can clear the codes but you really don't need to reset the adaption values like one used to do in the VW/Audi gearboxes. The Cayenne transmissions will adapt quick enough on there own if there are no fault codes present.
  13. I don't think you can easily diagnose the entry and drive system without the Porsche tester. Best to refer to the dealer or an experienced indy with the proper tools.
  14. I agree with CTTinTO. Have the front and rear suspension inspected as I have seen lower control arm bushings cause vibrations and this can easily be spotted during a proper inspection. The driveshaft is also a area that causes vibrations but more so felt through the chassis then the steering wheel.
  15. The ignition coils are a common problem but the spark plugs should be fine. The light sensor could very well have failed but I think you have a charging system problem that needs to be addressed. Have your garage monitor the alternator output over a 10 minute period with all of the vehicles consumers on such as head lights, A/C, emergency flashers and such. I have seen a few problem vehicles where the charging system test fine under a normal quick load test but fails when exposed to a large demand over a few minutes at idle speed.
  16. I think RFM is referring to the limiting mount attached to the cylinder head on the passenger side.
  17. Don't worry about the camshaft codes right now, I have seen misfires cause these codes. I would buy the newest updated parts from the dealer and change the spark plugs at the same time. Also inspect the weather seal at the fire wall that seal against the hood, it can become dislodged and allow water onto the engine which can damage the rear cylinders 5 and 6 ignition coils. After the new parts are installed, clear all codes, road test the vehicle and clear any codes that might have occurred such as O2 sensor or catalytic convertor codes. You often get false code due to contamination in the cats from the misfires and it might take several drive cycles for anything to show up again.
  18. Have you ever replaced the ignition coils or spark plugs? Coil 5 & 6 often get damaged from water and cause an odd misfire when cold that only last a few seconds and sometimes doesn't set a fault code. If you have a battery drain it often manifest itself with slow cranks speed/no start conditions from being parked up over night and multiple codes for low battery conditions in many modules. I've no idea what your tech working on the car is on about with good flow and such or the O2 sensor issue.
  19. Azelaya- Search the site as the driveshaft/carden shaft failure has been covered many times.
  20. It there a drivability problem or just codes you found in the system? I would clear all codes and then pin-point test any that might return. Be sure the battery/charging system is up to par as low operating voltage will manifest in odd ways on CAN-BUS equipped vehicles such as the Cayennes.
  21. I bought a universal connecter removal kit from MAC Tools and and connectors from my local VW dealer.
  22. I have never replaced a mount on a Cayenne. May I ask how you determined it to be failed?
  23. I personally have learnt loads from this site. Not only from the TSB's I can access but all the knowledgable members on the forum.
  24. The coolant temp rises after you shut off the engine which can overcome a weak pressure valve in the coolant cap. It's cheap/easy to replace to see if that cures the fault.
