  1. Could be a fault with a pressure accumulator. They can't hold a pressure charge and the pump has to intermittently recharge the system pressure which cause the light to be on and off. You can also have the ABS system checked for codes.
  2. Air flow meters can fail but not often, they can also be tested but most techs don't know how. There are many things that can be at fault which would cause idle problems. The first thing if to check for vacuum leaks then fuel pressure/volume and residule pressure. The basic need to be verified and guessing by throwing parts at it is never a wise idea. If the tech misdiagnosed the problem, why do owe them anything?

  4. Your not missing anything, chances are the last person broke the parts and they are now glued together.
  5. You sound like a fellow that tries to do his own repairs and I believe one of the best tools you can have at your side when working on Porsche is Durametric software. I'm not 100% sure but I think it can read ride control faults. Check out the their website or contact them to verify. These vehicles are complicated and often without at least fault codes it's nothing but a guessing game.
  6. Left side fuel module contains the main fuel pump and filter. I would recommend replacing both the filter and pump and not operate the vehicle with low fuel levels.
  7. I agree with RFM. I would also replace the fob batteries at the same time due to age.
  8. What was the orignal problem you were having that pointed to the compressor? On a side note - VW offers a repair kit for the compressors.
  9. Hopefully it was a one time only thing. Perhaps just water migration into a connector that needed time to dry out.
  10. What engine codes do you have? If it was misfiring the check engine should have been flashing and it is not safe to operate the vehicle if this is the case.
  11. What ECU are you referring to? The DME for fuel injection/Ignition has nothing to do with the cruise control as it is control by a seperate control module.
  12. You need to test the level sensor using the porsche tester. Have you inspected the electrical connector for damage or water intrusion?
  13. I would guess they just drove the vehicle to recalibrate the DME and purge the cat convetors, just what I would have done.
  14. I don't know why it would be making noise and shouldn't be doing anything unless the cruise control is activated. Are you sure the noise is coming from this unit? Try disconnecting the electrical plug to isolate the fault. Breakers yard is a junk yard.
  15. That is the cruise control servo. Get on from your local breakers yard.

  17. I still don't understand the relationship between a failed convertor and the fault codes the poster was getting. A misfiring cylinder can easily damage the convertor and I have seen convertors melted to such a degree that the engine will stall after running a short time but never set fault codes for anything like this.
  18. I also agree that the battery is the first thing to rule out.
  19. If it developed a misfire due to a faulty coil pack and it has now been replaced, clear all codes and road test the vehicle to complete at least one drive cycle. You might be trying to repair a problem that doesn't exist due to the fact that the DME is still adapting from the misfire fault.
  20. Record any faults code and clear, monitor to see if the problem/codes return then start the diagnostic tracing. Be sure to check for any CAN-BUS or charging system/battery faults.
  21. Whats the repair history on the vehicle? Was it operating correctly before the MOT inspection? Also inspect the oil for fuel contamination.
  22. If money is at hand then I would replace the units. It's not a question of if they are going to fail but when.
  23. Have you checked for any transmission and engine codes?
  24. Can you tell us in what way the cat was damaged? Was the substrate broken/missing or was it melted, and if so, what caused the damaged to the cat? I'm very surprised you didn't get a cat convertor efficiency code.
  25. I have also seen a very dark purple coloured fluid leak from the mounts.
