  1. You should verify all the main grounds including the engine to chassis.
  2. You should be able to buy the wiring at your local OPC. I know VW does sell the individual male/female wiring connectors with a small length of wire attached.
  3. Often there is a part number on the old unit. Porsche or VW should be able to make a repair connector for you as they have a kit made for this purpose.
  4. Remove the serpentine belt and run the engine to be sure it's not a failing component such as the belt idler or P/S pump. I have also heard the P/S flow control valve located inside the pump make some noise on these units. You can run the engine at speed when the noise occurs ( belt on of course ) and turn the steering wheel slowly off centre to see if the noise changes or goes away.
  5. I think replacement of the screen is the only cure.
  6. I think the main part of the fob is glued together and won't come apart without something breaking.
  7. It's the vacuum reservoir tank.
  8. What loctite are you using? I have used 242 which is blue in colour and for low torque situations.
  9. I had a customers engine make a noise which I thought was a failing valve lifter which went away off idle but as they put more milage on the vehicle the noise was constant. I replaced the lifters for that bank and it didn't help so we assumed it was a failing piston/damaged cylinder wall. I did use a scope to inspect the cylinder wall but could see no damage, engine ran fine and used no oil. As the cost of the engine would exceed the vehicle value it was determined they would continue to operate the unit and it's been over a year and the nothing has changed. Before all this happened, the vehicle did lose a good portion of it's engine oil due to the PCV valve freezing up and the customer continued to drive the vehicle for several weeks before bringing it in for service. It had all the lifters rattling by then and I only recovered approx 3 litre of oil when I drained the crankcase. And Yes, several warning lights were on but they choose to ignore them.
  10. Chances are the wiper arm has been worn by the splines on the spindle caused from use while the nut was loose. Inspect them carefully for damage but you probably have to replace the arms. How old are the wiper blades and do they move easily on their pivots pins?
  11. It's all guess work without reading the fault codes. Perhaps an Indy garage with the correct software could help you out.
  12. There are a few problems with Ver 6 and the Cayennes but the guys at Durametric are working on the issues. I've been in contact with Owen in technical support and I'll post any new info as it comes my way. I also power up my laptop with a 12 volt adaptor as it seems to work better then running off battery power alone.
  13. You are really going about this repair the wrong way. You need to verify the fault instead of just replacing parts. Have the vehicle check for fault codes, write them down then clear all codes and address any that return.
  14. As stated, contact your local OPC and have them verify the list and give a breakdown of each item.
  15. If you have the factory harness and control module it needs to be programmed so it's recognized by the vehicles systems but once programmed you just need to purchase the wiring adaptor for your trailer.
  16. I'm hoping it gets here soon.. :) Can the EVAP purge fail (I assume open) and not throw a CEL? It can throw a code but not trigger the light. I think that particular EVAP code has to occur for two consecutive drive cycles to set off the light. The valve can have an intermittent failure but lets check for codes as this is all guess work.
  17. You can adjust the sensitivity of the system using the thumb switch on the main wiper switch but it sounds as if your system has a fault.
  18. You might have a problem with the EVAP purge solenoid which is causing an uncontrolled vacuum leak during start up. You really need to check for codes so wait for the Durametric to show up and post any results.
  19. The air springs can fail and it isn't just a Porsche thing. It sounds like it was just bad luck.
  20. Are you using factory update disks or ebay units? It's shutting down due to overheating then you need to verify the operation of the cooling at the back of the unit.
  21. I don't have any " soft black sealant like caulking " on my headlights. I have worked on a few Cayennes and never seen anything like you're referring to. Could it be something aftermarket?
  22. If you don't put the suspension into the service position the system keeps running until it overheats or something gives.... in this case it was a air spring.
  23. They are expected to have a very long life but why would you replace something that isn't broken yet? Fuel pumps are not a common failure item in my experience on these vehicles.
  24. If it states 150kg that is referring to the tongue weight.
  25. I would replace the lock motor. It sounds more like a mechanical problem then programming. Please post back with your results so we may all learn from this.
