  1. The sound might be normal but it's difficult to say without hearing it first hand. The torque tube or transaxle input shaft brngs could be at fault.
  2. Or use the search function on the site. There are some known issues with the early models.
  3. I'm sorry but I don't understand the question. Are you referring to a transmission problem?
  4. Welcome to the forum. Is the vehicle new to you? Even though you have the SIM card tray you might not have the telephone module. If you search the site you'll find info on how to access the PCM version number.
  5. Thanks. So the center bearing and shaft are different failures to this concern? Is the balance issue to to the bearing or something else being off in the shaft? I see some of the aftermarket shafts are balanced. I guess I'm curious what will happen to him when this finally goes since he says he needs to drive it to work this week. Does this depend on the carrier bearing being the failure point or do the C/V at the diffs fail too and snap? It's the centre brng rubber carries that fails and cause the driveshaft to float around. I've been told it's a one piece shaft and doesn't come apart unless it's cut apart. I don't know if this it true but I have looked at a failed shaft and I couldn't see anyway to seperate the two halves. i would not recommend driving the vehicle in this condition as it could damage other things. I have never seen or heard of any other problems with the drive shafts/axle on the Cayenne other then this issue.
  6. Interesting is right. My fuel door is always locked until I activate the switch and I have no buttons that I know of to disable the alarm unless I select the feature from the multi-function display.
  7. Sounds like the driveshaft to me.... it will get worse quickly. I have read many post with people getting the centre brng replaced with some success and then having vibration problems after due to a balance issue. I would just get the updated part from the dealer network and be done with it.
  8. If you check for fault codes it might point to which sensor is at fault.
  9. Have the ABS system checked for fault codes. You probably have a wheel speed sensor failing.
  10. I would check for water/coolant that might have gotten into the gearbox range selector switch located on the side of the gear box. Remove the electrical connector and clean with a good contact cleaner or WD-40.
  11. My 2005 has a switch in the driver door card next to the fuel door release.
  12. What codes are you getting? I'll assume all the tires are of the same size.
  13. If you can manually move the sunroof from limit to limit without feeling any binding then you need to have the system checked for codes as there might be problem with the motor position sensor or it needs to be recalibrated. As to the power window, the only problem I have seen is with the switches failing.
  14. Be sure you have the headlight assembly correctly seated and locked into place. I would remove the assembly and inspect the electrical connectors.
  15. Cheers Loren but I have those spec already. When I read the numbers using Durametric I got numbers I have never seen before. At idle it shows 180k/g and at WOT at redline 6100 k/g. I don't understand these numbers. I am familiar with grams/sec and have the specs for a Touareg V6 but they don't jive with what Durametric shows. I'll keep at it until I figure things out. Thanks for the help.
  16. I would guess the ignition control module is failing. Also verify the operation of both dist. rotors as the drive belt can break causing the secondary rotor to stall and a cylinder misfire which can damage the engine if not sorted.
  17. Does anyone have the specs ( volts or grams/kg ) for the MAF sensor on a 2005 Cayenne V6? The only numbers I could find refer to a voltage reading of less then 1.1 volts at idle. I was looking for volume specs at idle, part throttle and WOT.
  18. I've never mucked around with this feature but can't you use the SIM card from your personal mobile?
  19. Sounds like the primary fuel pump has failed.
  20. It's recommend that it be put back on in the original direction but it's not the end of days if you don't. If it happens to make noise try reversing it again.
  21. If it's safely on the stands and somewhat level it should be ok but I don't recommend running it through the gears while up on stands.
  22. What is wrong with just following the manuals advice? I can't see how you'd go wrong as I think Porsche knows what's best in the long run.
  23. Not uncommon for the new unit to smell as it burns off the varnish used to seal the windings. Be sure to fully charge the battery using a charger and not the alternator.
