  1. That is interesting.... give us a review when you have the time.
  2. Might be worth the time to clean the throttle body also.
  3. I've used only OEM coolant tanks on Porsche and never had a problem BUT have used WorldPack/Metrix coolant tanks on VW's and they turned out to be rubbish forcing me to buy the tanks from the VW dealer. I would return to the shop that did the work and get them to install a OEM style tank.
  4. Wow.... good to know. Thanks for the info.
  5. Did you replace the fuel pump because of this problem??
  6. Just got the phone with him. He said he only had a problem one time when it took a long time to initialize just after he took it out of winter storage but doesn't remember any lights blinking. It only did it the one time and and has had no other problems with it. His car is a '04 996 TT.... hope you can get this sorted. Best of luck.
  7. I don't have the NAVI unit but a friend does, I'll ask him about your problems. Sorry I can't be of more help right now.
  8. Sounds like BS to me.... why would Porsche want the car to drift to the right for an alignment spec?? A friend has a '04 Turbo and when I drove it I don't remember it pulling.
  9. Looks like you've caught the bug...... enjoy the project.
  10. Looks as if it is the mount that's leaking..... where did you place the jack when lifting the car?
  11. My smoke was white and lots of it, it would last for about 5 minutes or so then clear up. When it got worse the smoke cloud would enveloped the whole car and the engine started making a squeal noise like a slipping belt when hot.... we removed the oil fill cap, the squeal stopped but the smoke become worse. Replaced the seperator and the problem was cured. The smoke was definetly white but smelled like oil.
  12. I had one that smoked like mad and actually dripped oil out of the tail pipe, replaced the seperator and it took about 20 km's of driving to stop smoking and several months later and all is well.
  13. ummm....... what?? Are you asking if you should buy the car? Sure... buy two of them.
  14. Take it to another garage and get a second opinion. There are a lot of crooked mechanics out there.....
  15. I noise I'm refering to is a kind of chirp/squeal that happens just as you release the key from the crank position as the engine starts. Heard it loads of time on various vechiles over the years and never seen any damage caused. I think it's caused from the bronze bushing in the starter drive. I get a lot of VW suffering from this and just remove the starter (which is dead easy on a VW) and lube the starter drive which cures the problem. Wurth make a synthetic aerosol grease that seems to work well so far. Most of my customers just put up with the noise and it so far has had no ill effects.
  16. The tiptronic is a very reliable transmission. As for it being parked up so long, the factory installed battery is a weak unit and might need to be replaced and the fuel might have gone off. Get the Porsche and I'm sure you won't regret it. Good luck and welcome to the forum. P.S. Your english fine.... enjoy the car.
  17. Could be just the starter drive as it disengages the ring gear..... no damaged being done and I'd just put up with it.
  18. I don't know if there is a known amount of oil one should expect to find when the J tube is removed. The seperator is a common problem and seems to fit your situation..... I would just replace it as a matter of course to see if the problem corrects itself.
  19. It still has a fuel filter but it's now integral with the fuel pump/sender unit. Don't really know the whys of it all but heard it has something to do with cost savings.
  20. Have you driven both cars?? I would buy the one YOU like the best.
  21. It's impossible to say where the leak is from that photo..... best take it back to the garage that did the service.
  22. lol... well thats a new one. Glad you got it sorted.
  23. Hmmmm...... I've no idea then. Does it change pitch at all when the clutch is disengaged?
  24. I'm not really into painted interior parts but it looks rather good on your car.... mind me asking what it cost?
