October 12, Friday I loaded up my trailer and headed to the panhandle to provide hurricane relief in Panama Florida with a group out of Tampa called Compassion Kind who needed a trailer to haul all of their goods to the panama. While in Panama City Beach my vehicle locked itself with the keys inside and the vehicle running. After realizing it was not feasible to get a police officer to lend a Slim Jim or have him open the vehicle since they were doing search and rescue for survivors and also no pop a lock people were available I decided to break what I thought was the cheapest window on the vehicle the rear right quarter window (last window on the right side of the vehicle). After 10 smacks of a hammer in the middle of the window someone suggested hitting it in the lower corner, after doing so it finally shattered. We were able to unlock the vehicle by opening a back door at that point. So I taped it up with a piece of cardboard and duck tape and drove home. October 16, The following Tuesday I contacted my local Porsche dealer only to find out that the part was $650 and would have to be shipped from Germany since they did not have it locally. I think called a few junk yards and found one here in Tampa (Partsmart) that had the part second hand and would sell it for $75. I bought it and proceeded to remove and replace the old window. At first I thought it was just going to be the glass but as it turns out the c pillar accent is part of it and it is also connected to the trim that goes around the top of all the windows. In order to remove the glass you have to loosen the inside panels all the way around. You have to completely remove the panels that are above the lower portion of the window. When removing these panels you have to be careful because some of them use clips and others use screws (a combination of torx and metric bolts).
  3. I think its ridiculous, I have had so many old cars including a 1960 Willys jeep that did not have this problem. I wonder if there is a recall on it. Both my cayenne and my moms cayenne has the same problem and it constantly blows bulbs. I thought about rewiring it but have used electrical tape temporarily.
  4. I noticed that the brake pad number I had was different for the front pads. Makes me wonder if there is a different part number for the rears also?
  5. I have been trying to find the answer to this question for a while and mostly have only come across info for TURBO Cayennes and V6 Cayennes. I have a 2008 Cayenne S (NON TURBO) and would like to know if it is worth the money to buy the hhrproducts bypass kit, intake kit, and open filters for my cayenne. Anyone have a thought or suggestion on that? In short what I'm wondering is if there is actual gain and not just advertised gain.

  7. I am a member of the PCA and have changed brake pads numerous times on 5 different 911's totaling more than I can count on both hands. Does anyone know what the part numbers are for doing a break change (pads, rotors, sensors) on a 2008 Cayenne S VIN: WP1AB29P58LA50752 Thanks Rob
  8. I was always taught that when off roading you want the smallest amount of rim and the maximum amount of tire to increase the amount of passive suspension you can out of the tire itself. Also gives you more face to rub without damaging the rim. I have an 08 cayenne s that currently has 20'' rims on it for the street and I have a spare set of 17s that I want to put offroad tires on. I was wondering if you can make a suggestion as to what the largest tire is that would fit both the vehicle and the 17'' rims.

The vehicle originally came with the bose system and in order to make the subwoofer work I would have to add a second amplifier in addition to the preexisting one that the previous owner put in place of the factory unit.   11. I purchased a 2003 Porsche 996 C4 Cabriolet, upon receiving the vehicle noticed that the stereo had been modified and the subwoofer ( 996.645.567.00 A10 ) was not connected. The vehicle originally came with the bose system and in order to make the subwoofer work I would have to add a second amplifier in addition to the preexisting one that the previous owner put in place of the factory unit. In order to do this I had to answer several questions: 1. How much power can the bose subwoofer handle? I removed the subwoofer from the passenger foot well, since it was the unit that is mounted against the transmission hump. After removing the 2 screws that hold it in place I took it inside to look up what ever information I could based on the Porsche part number that was on the sticker on the back of the subwoofer enclosure ( 996.645.567.00 A10 ). After that provided me little to no assistance with the exception of telling me that it was a Porsche subwoofer I then proceeded to remove the speaker from the enclosure. First I had to remove 6 screws that held the protective grill, which turned out also held the speaker in the enclosure. After the speaker was out it provided me with the bose speaker information. Which I then called bose who was very difficult to get to an actual person, so I did the typical maneuver of getting to an answering machine then hitting 0 and finally got to a real person who provided me with the specs that I needed. 100 watts @ 2 ohms 2. How can I add a second amp safely into the vehicle (to prevent fires)? After finding out the specs for the subwoofer, I analyzed the way the system was currently setup and determined that I needed a way to safely connect 2 amplifiers without causing damage to the cars electrical system and potentially starting a fire. While reading some forums I found out that I need to add a distribution block which was very inexpensive ($20). When doing this use a fat gauge wire with a big fuse from the battery to the distribution block, one bigger than the wire you will use to connect your amps. Then from the distribution block to your amplifiers use another larger gauge wire with fuses inline. This will prevents fires from starting in the wiring of the amplifiers. 3. How can I get a 4 ohm amplifier to work with a 2 ohm subwoofer? My final issue was to determine how I could connect the amplifier I had laying around to the subwoofer seeing as though it was a 4ohm amplifier how can you make it produce 2 ohms as to not overload the speaker. I came across yet another forum that had the answer. Which I have illustrator below.
