  1. Looks like I only needed to do the PCV. After pulling the intake and replacing the PCV I have not experienced the code. My timing chain was tight and no evidence of broken guides.
  2. Thanks shonuff and all those who posted tips on this job. I just completed this service to fix a leaky valve cover gasket and suspected torn PCV on my 2009 Base with 137k mi. Fixed the intermittent P0674 error and eliminated the slight hesitation off idle. I'll add that the fuel line disconnect at the rear was a major PIA. I found that connecting it loosely to the top then with the pressure sensor out I was able to connect the bottom after getting the intake back into position. The line was slightly tweaked from removal but I was able to carefully bend back into position. I tightened the fuel pressure sensor with vice grips. I removed about a tablespoon of carbon build up out of the 3 ports I had access to. I'll probably regret not getting the other 3 walnut blasted. I cross shopped Audi/VW parts, here's my list of everything replaced. Intake Manifold Gasket 95511014700 Brake booster vacuum line, mine broke as expected 95535557941 Lower injector seals 95511091000 RKX VW & Audi 3.6 & 3.2 Engine Valve Cover PCV Valve, I used their superlube on the injector seals Intake manifold M10 bolts N10544903, VW part 17 valve cover bolts, VW part 03H103831 valve cover gasket, VW part 03H103483E Tekton 3/8 drive T30 tool worked perfect for the intake deep hidden screws 1/4 Mini ratchet for the T25 water tube screw Rein 06F103235A is a perfect fit for the corrugated breather hose, mine broke
  3. Looking for some advice. I have owned our 2009 Cayenne since 2014, currently has 137k mi and for the first time its throwing a check engine light. My Durametric is pulling the following code and other posts about it have been inconclusive. P0674:Fuel rail pressure sensor - inappropriately high - Upper limit value exceeded, test conditions are not-completed, fault is not currently active and causing a DTC light I've monitored the car for a month and 1300 mi, the code comes/goes. Drivability is fine, only a slight hesitation off idle. Still has original PCV valve and likely brittle vacuum hoses. I have the parts ready to replace that and the valve cover. I've read a bunch on the VR6 boards that the HPFP might be out of timing due to a loose chain (stretch or broken guides) and that is what is causing the error. I do not hear any chain rattle. I pulled the camshaft deviation values and they are -2/+1. A VW tech guide says replace if 8 degrees off but there is one video diagnostic showing a misaligned fuel pump, when they dug in the guide was broken. Has anyone had and resolved this issue? Anyone go through pulling the engine to replace the timing chains? Can you instead drop the transmission, pull the intake and access the rear timing parts that way? Alternatively I could roll the dice and drive it until a real drivability issue crops up and evaluate cost/benefit then. We are purchasing a Certified 2016 Cayenne this weekend so the old one will only see about 3k mi/yr.
  4. Does anyone have a procedure & torque specs for replacing the mounts on an 09 base Cayenne? I've reviewed the parts diagrams and scoured the Internet and best I can tell you either have to drop the engine subframe or remove the engine brackets. Given the driver side bracket also has the oil filter housing I'd like to avoid if possible and there is very limited space there to begin with. Any insight appreciated. I have 101k miles and since my ownership began at 69k miles there has always been some vibration/rattle at idle and while observing the motor it moves when revving. I'd like to prevent any additional damage to the exhaust/flexshaft etc. Thanks Mark
