  3. The ones without the coolant lines are for Boxsters/Caymans so if you want to keep everything stock, I don't recommend using it. The one for our car should be easy to find. Have you checked with local dealers? The coolant lines are there to prevent AOS freezing in cold weather. If you really want to, you can just connect the two lines with a pipe nipple to bypass the AOS. 5mm ID amd 8mm OD.
  4. It's going to leak because that valve will be pushed to the UP" position by the pressure once the coolant is in operating temperature. You need to id the leak and if it's not the hose, your tank is bad. If it's an aftermarket tank, I strongly recommend swapping it out for a genuine one as the aftermarket ones don't last.
  5. Is that a genuine Porsche coolant tank? Looks like the leak is from where the hose connects to the tank? Maybe try to reseat that hose and hose clamp.

  7. Of course it can also be the pump itself, which can easily be verified by hot wiring it.

  9. Welcome to Renntech! The red wire is connected directly to the engine bay positive jump start point (i.e., it's always hot so be careful). The brown/black wire is connected to the SAI pump relay then to a "Maxi Fuse" then to the ground. When engine is off, the relay is not activated so it will NOT supply ground to the pump. When the engine turns ON, the DME activates the relay, which then supplies ground to the pump. So you should check at least he "Maxi fuse" 40A under the left rear seat parcel panel. The SAI pump relay is also there (position #10). If the fuse is good, you will have to check the relay itself and whether there's power to the relay.
  10. Now I watched the video. All the sprockets on the IMS are only interference fit (light pressure). Can you believe that? Anyway, LN Engineering can help you rebuild it.
  11. Just send your IMS to LN engineering for repair/rebuild. They are THE expert on IMS among other things. They will pin the sprockets and balance the shaft for you.
  12. Btw, it looks like there are no valve piston contacts on the bank 2 pistons. Is bank 1 the same? If true, you are very very lucky.
  13. Um, you said the cams didn't turn when you turned the crank. There got to be somethng broken between the crank and the cams. The IMS can't be removed without separating the crank carrier from the engine case half. You may as well remove the crank carrier at this stage so you can extract the IMS for further inspection. You may also try to hold the sprocket while turning the crank to see if the sprockets slip. Be careful not to pnch your fingers though.

  15. That makes sense. You need to split the case to get to the IMS then. Most lkely slipped sprockets on the IMS.
  16. Thanks for the update and glad to see your progress. The big piece looks like the water pump impeller but it seems too big to be found inside the head. Where exactly did you find those pieces? Are all 5 chains intact? If they are, that sounds like the IMS sprocket(s) is slipping.

Cool, so I'm not crazy haha If you look at the autoatlanta site http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-parts/hardparts.php?dir=996-99-05&section=105-00 you can see that the 997 pump can fit M96.03 engines but only from '05 and up. I suspect the OP's '04 is at the transition year so it's possible it got the 997 pump from the factory.
  19. Ah, maybe you're the one I was thinking about :) You got your pump from ECS tuning, right?
  20. AFAIK, the 997 water pump's diameter is a little bit larger than the 996. In fact, one 996 owner once fitted a 997 pump and hand spun it and he could feel the blade scrapping the engine block. He switched out to a 996 pump and problem solved. Would be nice to see if a new 997 pump spins freely in your engine case. If it does, that's a further proof that's the right part. Again, a simpler and more direct way is just to call the dealer.
  21. Just call Sunset Porsche parts department and give them your VIN. They can tell you with certainty if that part is meant for your car.

  24. Nope. Tire wear is normal. The Rear tires will always wear faster on the inner side.
