  2. That made me believe that your clutch start lock switch #16 in JFP's diagram above is SHORTED inside. It's a micro switch with a metal lever on it when pushed (by the clutch pedal when depressed fully) the two terminal are shorted. But when the clutch pedal is not depressed, the two terminals should be open circuit. You can remove the two connectors on the switch and put an ohm meter on the terminals of the switch. Then push the clutch pedal all the way down to test. If you remove the two terminals, you should NOT be able to start the car either.

  4. Can you describe a bit about the aftermarket exhaust part? Any exhaust leak? Also check intake leak like at air filler tube, AOS, intake manifold, etc.? What are the TRA and FRA values on both banks? What are the O2 sensor readings pe-cat and post-cat on both banks look like? Also, what's the MAF reading at idle fully warmed up with a/c off.

Imagine the long USB cable hooked up to a tower so that it can reach multiple bays, and the tower to a large flat screen that can be swiveled so you can see it, makes life really easy, particularly when the tower is connected to your backup server that stores copies of client data files................. :thumbup: Now if you connected the Durametric cable's USB plug into a wireless bridge with power for the USB port, and the tower on the other end setup to receive the signal, you could make the leap to a wireless connection. Of course with the flat screen TV professional setup like you have, I can definitely see that :) I did think about the wireless brige with powered USB port setup like you said. Just never had the time to make one yet. Also, the stock (short) cable will still dangle from the dongle even with that setup. It would be nice if Durametric comes out with something similar to those low-profile bluetooth dongles that completely eliminate any cord.
  6. Even with a laptop, I don't like the short cable getting in the way. Would prefer wireless between the laptop and the Durametric dongle (unfortunately this setup does not exists yet). I can't imagine using a 50' cable...almost impractical especially when you need to rev the engine or run tests.
  7. No, there are also pendng codes Durametric will log (and show you) that do NOT trigger the CEL.

  9. Refer to post #20 by JFP, which one of the four warnings is it? Does your temp gauge read normal temp (~180F) once the car is driven 10 miles or so? Can you use Durametric to log IAT, coolant temp, and all 4 oxygen sensor readings for a 10 mile drive starting from a cold engine? That should give us a much better picture of what's going on.

  11. No first hand experience but if it's not too difficult to remove, why not remove it to shake out any cleaner inside. Then let it dry completely, reinstall and retest?
  12. Yes, a garden hose (~50 PSI) even with a jet nozzle is ok. Don't use a pressure washer for sure. A stiff brush will also help a lot.

  15. I can live with the noise, but by my concern is the not properly working idle purge valve could be the reason for the irregular idle.Thanks Agreed and the valve is not too expensive if memory serves.
  16. What if you jump the start lock relay pins 30 and 87 so power can be supplied to the starter? Then when you crank, if starter spins and engine fires up, you can eliminate the immobilizer and focus on broken wire between the DME and the relay. If the starter spins but engine does not fire up, most like it's the immobilizer. You can also check for sparks during cranking. The immo will also disable spark and fuel.
  17. That does sound like an immobilizer problem. Does your key head have the immobolizer pill (don't know what it's called) installed? If you have Durametric, I rememeber it shows you if the immobilizer is activated although I have never looked into that in detail.
  18. You may need a new valve. A slight ticking noise is normal though. I remember seeing others replaced that valve because the clicking is too loud.
  19. Most likely your bank 2 cat (passenger side) is physically broken inside hence the knocking. You can put a screwdriver between it and your ear to check for the knocking noise. P0430 alone is likely the bank 2 cat since bad o2 sensors have their own codes.   20. Not too surprising the original bearing is still good. Most ppl who changed out their bearings experienced the same. It's a preventive measurement and rarely you see ppl catching a bad original bearing. Anyway, it's done now and that should give you a peace of mind.
  21. So there's 12v power to the start lock relay (pin 86) when key is in crank position but DME is NOT supplying the GROUND to energize the relay (pin 85)? Is fuse C1 (engine electronics) good?

  23. On my '03, the pump has 7 bolts (yours the same), there are two holes with steel inserts. Two of the bolts are longer. See here http://www.vertexauto.com/UserData/Images/Large/4615.jpg Those two holes receive the two longer bolts.
