  1. I second what John said above. After you've fixed the P0343, if the misfire still comes up, you can start to check the coils and plugs and go from there. Sometimes the wet weather exacerbated the issue with cracked coils. If your coils are healthy, they should not be affected by weather.

  3. You need to check for short to B+, not continuity.
  4. Most likely the cat itself with that code because O2 sensors have their own codes. After the engine is fully warmed up, at idle, the pre-cat sensors should swing between ~0.2 to ~0.8v every few seconds while the pos-cat should stay more or less at 0.7v flat. If the post-cat follows the precat voltage pattern, the cat is bad and needs to be replaced.

  6. Yes, a regular 3.4 also has a scavenge pump on each bank.
  7. Yup, that's the bank 2 scavenge pump. Can be removed (if enough space) without removing the cam cover. Hard to imagine it making such clanking noise though. You can use a mechanic's stethoscope to pinpoint the source better.
  8. It does sound like it's coming from there in the videos. However, there's really nothing rotational there other than the crankshaft after you removed the belt.
  9. Btw, this noise reminds me of my failed clutch fork. The noise sounds like it's from the engine or cats and not the bell housing, is that how you feel too?
  10. Oh man, that doesn't sound good at all. Have you checked if the clanking is comimg from one of the cats? You can place a screwdriver between the cat and your ear and try to hear the tapping. Another thing to check is if the spark plugs are all tight.
  11. The rhythmn doesn't correspond to piston knock or valve train. Sounds too slow for those. The crank pulley spins about 12 revolutions per second at idle. Most of the pulleys are smaller so they spin even faster. Also there is some non uniform double tapping. Indeed a strange tapping.
  12. Sounds quite external to me. You may want to remove the aftermarket airbox and see if it's interfering with anything. Also check the entire belt and see if it's damaged anywhere. Then remove the belt and spin all the moving pulleys by hand (clockwise) and see if you can duplicate the tapping.

I actually meant you need to verify the following normal pattern during cold start, not about any DTC's or any info from Durametric (other than the actual voltage): When the SAI pump is running Pre-cat O2 voltage starts at 0.44v, then tapers to almost 0 at around 20 seconds or so Post-cat O2 voltage starts at 0.44v then tapers to 0 before the pump stops Once the SAI pump stops running Pre-cat O2 voltage will swing between 0.2 to 0.7v every couple of seconds Post-cat O2 voltage will stay at ~0.7v
  14. It's actually very simple based on almost all similar threads I read. First, try to see if you have any real issues in the SAI system by logging the O2 sensor voltage for all 4 sensors for the first 2 min of cold start. That itself will tell you if you have any issues. If no issues, just keep putting more miles or doing more drive cycles. If still not set, go to the dealer or anyone who has a PIWIS, which can force the car to execute the SAI test. Not guaranteed to pass. If there are no issues, the flag will set. However, if there are underlying issues, the flag will still not set despite the commands from PIWIS.

  17. No, the high pitch noise should stop. Also, the noise doesn't start till the key is left in that position for some time (say tens of seconds). It doesn't sound like your's is normal.
  18. High pitch noise and clicking sound is normal. That's the e-gas calibrating itself.
  19. Perhaps you can remove the scavenge pump on the same bank and see which chain is broken. If you have not restarted the engine (sounds like you didn't which was very smart), maybe it's repairable?
  20. Sorry to hear that. Seems like you did all the right PM and regular maintenance. Any warning like debris in oil, strange noise, etc?
