  1. $500 for a key...yeah right...are you a porsche dealer...LOL
  2. I have heard of several issues with the float and the sensor being unplugged...also have heard of the error message when the fuel level gets too low. there is a parts picture in this link
  3. If you have a mac with intel processor, you can run parallels, bootcamp or VMware...in all cases you will have to get a copy of the dreaded windows....LOL. I have a Macbook with durametric installed and it works great!
  4. I use performance box by Racelogic for track data and times. As far as prep goes (I apologize if you already know this stuff): 1. check brakes and brake fluid (s already mentioned) 2. check tires...do not over-inflate prior to the session (or at least check them often) 3. check the safety requirements of the venue...(helmets, roll-bar, etc.) ahead of time 4. i put clear self-adhesive shelf liner to protect the front and areas behind wheels 5. get a map of the track...learn the track (and listen to the instructor for apex advise) before going at it. 6. have fun!
  5. depending on the brand...tirerack is another source. contact damon@tirerack
  6. No worries, just bustin' your chops...LOL
  7. uhhhmmm...from the link I posted already...LOL
  8. well you could try re-training the window, but most likely a microswitch or regulator failure...yes it has been covered multiple times...
  9. whenever there is a fault in the alarm system it will give the honk. Some folks prefer this and will purposely leave a sensor open (like the center console lid). of course if there are multiple faults you won't know unless you get the codes read.
  10. If the module was faulty it wouldn't start, so I'm guessing a short somewhere...check ground wires.
  11. long shot without codes, but steering sensor?
  12. P1101 (input variables, charge measurement - below limit) Posible fault cause: >heavily soiled throttle >throttle adjusting unit faulty >MAF faulty. How is the car performing?
  13. :welcome: Russ, Can you give some more info? What rpm does this happen? Changing between what gears? When was the last plug change? What plugs are your running? Have you checked the coil packs? Any mods? Sounds a little like variocam stutter which is normal...you just need to stay on it as you shift...
  14. Maintenance free does not mean it shouldn't be maintained (ha ha ha)...Typically MF means there is enough electrolyte to maintain the proper performance for the life of the battery. On some of the MF you can still add water (distilled), but it appears this is not an option for the Optima. It is a battery and will lose power if there is any drain...so the maintainer will keep the battery well charged while the car sits and no alternator to charge it...It is better to maintain a MF battery with a slow trickle charge...to prevent gas build up.
  15. you can't save a dead battery. you didn't post the MY or model of your car so if it is 03+ you will not have to save radio codes as they are stored in the DME. if <03, you can try the cig lighter plug-in to save the codes. you should keep your new battery on a maintainer as well.
