  1. At least you are OK...that is the most important part. Cars can be replaced.
  2. Just FYI....I have seen numerous folks go to aftermarket headers and LOSE power (as measured on a dyno).
  3. A different opinion...the stock headers are designed quite well....their length is just about optimal. Best thing you can do is to help the flow by porting and polishing them. On a 4S I doubt you will see any HP gains. You won't on a turbo either.
  4. I sure hope you had disconnected the battery. Whenever dealing with the steering wheel (aka airbag) it is wise to disconnect the battery. In any case you will need a durametric, PST2 or PIWIS to reset.
  5. Tuning the ECU will go through plugs quicker....if you are using the Beru 5 plugs they will die quickly...go with the Bosch FR6s. I would replace the plugs and check the coil packs while you are at it.
  6. Usually when you get P0300 you get another code as P0300 is a sum total of misfires. Possible fault cause ♦ Fault in ignition system ♦ Fault in injection system ♦ Flat-base tappets (valve lift fault) ♦ Mixture too rich ♦ Mixture too lean ♦ Mechanical causes YES it could be plugs or coil packs and Check for leaks in the vacuum system! Did you figure out when the plugs were last replaced and what they are?
  7. Get the codes read! Report them back here. When was the last time you changed plugs? What plugs are you using? My guess is plugs or coil packs, but getting the codes will help with diagnosis.
  8. Heh, thanks yeah paragon used to be a regular GTG, however and for whatever reasons they were...uh closed. Kuni...I have bought 10 Lexi over the years...great cars. You should join our rides one of these times....lots of folks from your neck of the woods. My HREs have the same problem...one of the reasons I went with OZ rims....
  9. read this reversed lip If you have reversed lip rims....that could indeed be the issue.
  10. I'm confused....a reputable shop as you call it and they don't have a Porsche scan tool. There is no substitute. Until we get the actual codes we would just be guessing.
  11. Not sure, but I seem to recall re-training the windows...something like hold the switch to drop the window and keep holding for 5 seconds, then do this on the way up as well.
  12. This might help: link 1 Not a huge difference, but supposedly more free flowing.
  13. I used to have the GIAC loader and I have the durametric software. The durametric will pay for itself quite quickly....You will eventually get codes. You are welcome to pm me if you need assistance using the GIAC loader. Here is the link GIAC Flashloader Manual
  14. Actually I have set my browser to bring up certain sites...and contrary to popular belief, I just focus mostly on 996 and especially 996TT. I learn a lot from everyone and when I can I help out. BTW, what is Pelican? Also on flat-6, rennteam and turboflatsix.
  15. see here: MOST This is the "communication system" Porsche went with MY03. In any case you don't need the code (explained above) as long as it is the stock radio and ECU. You need to find someone who knows MOST.
  16. blinking cel is NOT good...you should not drive it....did they inspect the coil packs when they changed the plugs?
  17. Welcome aboard. Please try the search function Like This this one is for the hood, but the rear may also need some adjustment: link 2
  18. First....make sure all of the doors/hoods/brakes are engaged or closed. Try manually opening the top. It's in the manual. May just need some lubrication. When was the last time you lubed it?
  19. · The door mirror (left/right) can be adjusted with the PST 2 or PIWIS! 1. Connect the PST2 with the ignition off, then switch the ignition on. 2. Switch on the PST2 and wait for the start−up screen. 3. Press the >> key to go to the next level. 4. Select the vehicle type 911Turbo (996) in the left−hand window using the v key. 5. Press the −−> key to activate the right−hand window. 6. With the v / ^ key, select the Seat memory control module and press the >> key to go to the next level. 7. Select the menu item Parking aid on door mirror using the ^ / ^ key. 8. Press the >> key to go to the next level. 9. Select the desired door mirror right or left using the v / ^ key. 10. Press key F8 (coding)
  20. You should be OK, just take it easy. Or you could request a flatbed from the dealer and see if they are willing to pay for that or pay for local P-car service (this is what I would do).
  21. Chuck....you'd think I had some data and scientific info to support the Bosch recommendation, but all I have is anecdotal evidence from my tuner and the fact that my car runs great...so n>2. Keep in mind mine is bone stock :D NOT!
  22. IMO, fix the faults first...then OK to use those products.
