  1. First congratulations on your new ride. Loren answered the first 2 questions...for the third, the RoW remote will not work for US cars (thanks DoT). My suggestion is to check out the SmartTop. I have had mine installed for 3 years...works great. Cheers
  2. First congrats on purchasing an icon! Can you provide some more info.? Does the sound happen at idle? With the clutch disengaged? Only in first gear? Is this your first Porsche? Have you had the codes read?
  3. There is a plastic piece that just pops off (item # 7 in picture). You then slide the panel forward to get it free of the lugs and it just comes off....don't know how else to put it. I did it 5 times replacing my seat belts.
  4. Well one of you was OK, they other was arrogant and angry. I also don't use the Porsche manual recommended leather care stuff...that was my point...the Porsche Manual is not always the best for information or recommendations. Cheers
  5. So normal that it has only ever happened once? When you get in your p-car and just insert your key, your radio turns on? Yes every time...as long as the radio was on when I shut it down.
  6. Mr. White, I am fine with us giving opinions (some with references and basis)...as I recall it was you that challenged my opinion in the first place. You're not running for office are you? Just for future reference....I have pasted part of the Porsche manual....seems they insist on cleaning all of the leather (BTW they suggest to use only their product....is this what you do?)
  7. i may be wrong but i thought it was only the C4 with the saddle tank that needed calibrating after battery disconnection. loren will know for sure though That is what I posted! (it was a direct quote from the workshop manual BTW)
  8. It was very interesting and you get this neat badge when you tour the museum:
  9. How much is it off and how do you know? Note the fuel level sensor need not be calibrated if the battery was disconnected. The values are stored in the instrument cluster. Calibrating the fuel level sensor is not an easy thing. It requires removal of the sensor, all of the fuel, refilling the tank with an exact amount of fuel (12 litres) and calibrating using a PST2 or PIWIS.
  10. So Chuck and Mr. White....I give you the quote (with reference) the links...no whitty replies....WOW!
  11. The leather Porsche uses on the dash contains almost no moisture - it is specifically dried so there will be less "movement" as it goes through the big temperature changes that can occur on the dash. Introducing moisture back into the leather by using a conditioner will cause the leather to "move" with temperature changes and possibly break loose from the surface it is glued to. Here's what Porsche has to say about the leather used on the dash... "All leather is not the same. We work with classic upholstery leather, but we also work with low-shrinkage leather. The instrument paneling, for example, can get extremely hot in summer. If the material starting tightening, what would that look like after a while? So we're talking about leather whose residual moisture has been largly removed, which means that it won't be able to shrink later." (Christophorus, No. 276 January 1999) And links: Eric@Bumperplugs Rennlist I'm out.
  12. So your tone "not sure this is the best advice"...because YOU have not heard of this... is acceptable? Pot calling the kettle black. Do take the tour....it is very informative.
  13. The preparation of leather by Porsche was told and shown to me on the factory tour in Stuttgart. Perhaps you missed the tour? I will look for links to this as well. I have used 303 on the leather for 4 years and the dash is in perfect condition. The 303 is an excellent sunscreen...I live a mile high so UV is bad.
  14. IMHO....I drive 3 hour trips and love the GT3 seats....much more support. I did put custom padding (memory foam) in some spots (easy to do as the pads are velcroed together), but love the fit. Of course I would recommend you try them out for your body size.
  15. Mine is all leather as I think most turbos are. Realize that Porsche treats the leather differently depending on where it is located in the car. The dash and door panels for example have had a process done where by the moisture is mostly removed from the leather. You do not want to use a leather conditioner that moisturizes for that leather. I use Aero 303 on that type of leather and Zaino on the other leather (seats, armrests).
  16. First question is fluid level? Then my guess is clutch Slave & Accumulator.
  17. Well perhaps this is what you need then...Mine has no boing.... another fix
  18. The infamous...boing....yes there is a fix. It actually has to do with incomplete installation. The rubber washer/bushing off the stock suspension needs to be installed. I point you to this thread: PSS9 Noise
  19. I don't know what your car MY and model is, but in some Porsches there is a hump in the fuel tank. The sensor for fuel level is in the upper hump (it actually estimates when you will run out based on mileage at the time the sensor reads no fuel)...so you have to add enough fuel to get into the upper hump...hope that makes sense.
  20. This type of question is better asked on 6speed or rennlist IMO.
