  1. I think what Loren is suggesting is to search the many forums for opinions on oil...I suggest you search on Doug Hillary (Rennlist I believe) in particular. Loren just doesn't want to continue the oil debates ad nauseam... (BTW 10W60 is way too thick)
  2. well the caps are known to fail...easy enough to try. usually a tank issue shows signs somewhere....
  3. Sorry, one dyno graph on a car that is not yours does very little to prove anything...you have no idea the conditions/ecu/other mods/environment....I'm with Loren on this...total BS
  4. Just a quick response for you....the bose of the '03+ models is fiber optics...you would have to rewire the entire system. Better to go for an aftermarket system...head unit, amp and speakers....
  5. Every Porsche I have ever owned was particularly sensitive to weak batteries. I would bet it is the battery. Do you keep your battery on a maintainer? If not, replace the battery and hook one up.
  6. I have occasionally had the cab top fault, but it always goes away. I also have the SmartTop module. Sounds like a sensor may be at fault. Probably need a PST2 or PIWIS to find the sensor.
  7. First check fuses D3 I believe. Another possibility is the hydraulics are low. see here. The manual has instructions for manually moving the top. It also says to re-calibrate after such activity (although I have done this with no calibration necessary. Also get codes read JIC.
  8. MY and model of car please... P0030 & P0134...Oxygen sensor heater in front of catalytic converter, bank 1: check the sensor connection, sensor faulty, DME faulty I would check connections and reset the codes (disconnect battery if you don't have a code clearer)
  9. Glad you got it running. One thing I have learned in years of owning multiple Porsches....they love their fully charged batteries. Keep the new one on a maintainer.
  10. Sounds more like a cumulous rectum...or nimbus rectum report (pulled it out of your *ss)...sorry chuck I couldn't resist. Why have you been through so many SSKs?
  11. Yes this will indeed create the wear problem (or at least exagerate it). In fact it doesn't have to break. The stock drop links (I hope this is the right name) are rubber and they can be effected by hitting bumps in the road...they can actually become misaligned quite easily. I plan on putting some aftermarket drop links to fix this in the spring. I have one of the rear tires with more wear on the inside as just one of the links was "out".
  12. OK..first relax...then get the codes read. We will be guessing without codes, but it could be as easy as a MAF (possibly associated with the CAI). It could also be as simple as plugs or coil pack...
  13. Well I suppose the list just got bigger. I did have an issue with the alarm control unit that died (996-618-262-03)...car made no sound. Replaced under warranty.
  14. So is your battery 5+ years old? If so it is on its last legs...my guess is battery...lights will still work, but not enough to start her up.
  15. I'm a little confused...you have the CDR220 (CDR22) and you can't play CDs? What type of CD are you trying to play? Try a factory CD vs. one you burned..also no mp3...
  16. Then why ask? what do you plan on using your car for? For track, you obviously give something up. But in comparison to other cabs, other makes the TT Cab handles quite well. The flex is very minor in this version. But, seriously if little things like this matter, stay away...I just crank the stereo (or listen to the EPs). The creaks do not effect me at all....much rather have one of the greatest sports cars ever...sans top.
  17. Sorry you are so wrong here...and you always call others out to show data (which I did and Doug Hillary has done) and yet you have NEVER SHOWN any data...Show data or stop preaching....I am out
  18. Could you define fact please?...seems to me you have opinions (perhaps hypotheses) but NO DATA to support your claims. read post 66 Search on Doug Hillary and you will find someone who has studied oil in Porsches and actually has data instead of being an internet jockey.
  19. FWIW 1999 has been bad mouthing 0W40 forever...I have read multiple reports from competent people (such as Doug Hillary who did an extensive test on oils). Remember oil is not just for lubrication, but also for cooling. I am fine sticking with Porsche recommended oils: 0W40, 5W40, 5W50 for normal use. BTW, the most critical lubrication time is a start-up. The thicker the weight the less lubrication (first number on the multi-weight oils) at start.
  20. uh..turbo...are you kidding... btw..beautiful car dude.
  21. Yes there is a description of removing the coolant pump with the engine installed..31 steps.
  22. LOL...one of these days..Chuck, you are going to be right.
